we arrived at banu hotel around...
6 / 10
Sep 2008, Mrs L RAWLINGS

we arrived at banu hotel around 9.30pm, two coulples in our fifties. the first challenge was getting the suitcases up the steps into reception. after checking in which was very quick, the cases were taken upstairs in the lift by the staff, who were very helpful. we were left to climb the stairs which in the heat, with no air conditioning was quite taxing.
the rooms were small but very clean, we had ordered airconditioning, which we knew was extra £5 per day, but we expected it to be up and running, we had to go back down to reception to pay for it and get the key and remote. we had missed the evening meal so we strolled down the street and came across the magic garden restaurant and bar. we had an excellent meal, the waiters had fantastic personalitites and were very entertaining, they really made us welcome and they were our first introduction to turkish hospitality.
we awoke the next morning and we, and our friends in the room next door, were delighted by the sea view we had from our balconies. we went down to breakfast which consisted of cheese, meat, tomatoes, olives, boiled eggs -a couple of days only- jams, tea, coffee and juice and melon, toasters provided to make toast, no shortage of bread and always nice and fresh.
the evening meal at banu hotel was very basic soup, tiny burgers with cold potatoes rice and salad garnish, melon and grapes, the burgers were
replaced by chicken on skewers one night and pieces of fish another. the restaurant was not air conditioned, in fact no area in the banu is, even the few comfortable chairs in the reception area is kept cool
just by an open door and window, and with the heat that we experienced would have been more comfortable with aircon. although we had paid for half board, we ate at the magic garden most evenings.
we were going to hire a car but decided that we would use the cheap bus service to give the drivers a rest.
the day trip to rhodes was good value. duty free cheaper there than in turkey, so buy it before you leave rhodes. we were lucky to get onto excursion on bus which cost an additional £10 each, you are taken to some of the sites and the courier speaks good english and gives you lots of info. the rest of excursion is on foot, but everything is close by.
half day boat trips are a good day out too at £8 per person.
the banu is definitely not a good hotel for people with walking difficulties simply because of the amount of steps. there is a lift but it only holds 4 people at a time and is a squash at that. cant fault it on cleanliness and the staff are friendly although english is limited with some.

What can I say about the Petrakis....
9 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs K Bannister

What can I say about the Petrakis. Fantastic apartments. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed. good size high ceilings plenty of space for My husband and I and 2 teens.
The pool is clean and the site is very well looked after. There is no need to get up early to get a sunbed there are plenty for everyone.
Dimitri who runs everything is simply the best!! He goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your holiday, nothing is too much trouble ,and he also thinks he's funny hehe!! a great bloke. You leave as a friend.
The only downside to these apartments is the main road for the first day or so you hear every car going past. But you do get used to them. I wouldn't reccommend these apartments for families with young children as you have to walk into Sidari down the main road which doesnt have pavements!! It can be a bit hair raising as the Greeks drive like maniacs!!
We would definitely return to these apartments without a doubt.

Me and my Girlfriend both 24 stayed...

Me and my Girlfriend both 24 stayed at the the petrakis apartments for 1 week, and can honestly say that it was brilliant.
The apartment was spotless and sheets and towels changed every other day, the pool was nice and clean and there were more than enough sun loungers.
The bar is well stocked and the bar snack menu is good for a poolside feed or a good breakfast.
As everyone has said in previous reviews about 'Dimitris', its all true, he honestly is a top geezer, he speaks better english than most of the people that stay there, he makes all the food and drinks and works like a maniac to make sure you have the best holiday.
The complex is situated just off the main strip so you dont get any noise, a 3 minute walk will take you to the supermarket, and the start of the bars and taverna's.

Feb 2008, Mr Judd Bird

Aye it was cracking and Sidari was extremely clean compared to the standards of cleanliness of my home town of Barnsley. The pool was beautiful, it had a lilo in it.
All the kids enjoyed themselves so that was pleasurable, i have no kids of my own.
The only slight grumble was it didn't have as many ramps for my wheelchair as i would have hoped but overall, it was top!

We had a fantastic time on the island...
9 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss RA Dunne

We had a fantastic time on the island of Corfu, I went with my boyfriend and two children (aged 7 and 13) and there was something there for all of us. Aqualand Water Park is a must with some great slides and something for all of the family. The resort that we stayed in was called Sidari, and to be honest it is a little 'touristy' with lots of shops that sell the normal tat, but it is not offensive. There is also the young and lively crowd who enjoy the music bars in the centre of Sidari and again it is all good fun!
The Petrakis apartments were in a quiet area of Sidari and they were clean and were set in beautiful gardens. There was also a pool there which the kids loved. Finally the beaches were great especially the canal d'amour end.
All in all I can honestly say that our trip top Corfu was one of the best holidays that I have ever had!

Jul 2004, Mr Imerson

It is the most relaxing holiday I have ever had.
The manager Dimitris was absolutely first class trying to make our holiday as good as he could as well as the owners Jimi and his wife.
The beach wasn’t too clean but as far as a holiday was concerned I would recommend this place to anyone who has children and want a friendly place to go on holiday.

Petrakis Studios/apartments were...
8 / 10
Jun 2004, Mrs S Hilton

Petrakis Studios/apartments were clean and set in nice gardens. The apartments had obviously been newly painted, but kitchen equipment and furniture looked a little 'tired' In common with many Greek apartments it was very dark inside, this is probably to keep the heat out. There is air conditioning but a charge is made. Plenty of hot water for showers at all times of day, although no shower curtain and only a hand held rubber shower which was rather blocked. Good clean pool and lots of sun beds, pool bar also serves snacks.
Quiet in June, but there is a go-cart track next door, which could become busy in season, and also the main road to Corfu Town directly outside. Set at the edge of town about 1.5k from beach through main shopping/bar street. Close to 2 large supermarkets and half a dozen reasonable restaurants.
Sidari is fast being taken over by the 'Watneys red barrel' brigade and apart from the beautiful beaches, which sadly were not very clean when we visited, has little else of interest and not much Greek atmosphere. The seawater seemed to be full of toilet paper and other related flotsum, so we did not swim from the beach.
