This was our fourth holiday to...
7 / 10
May 2007, Mr J Peavoy

This was our fourth holiday to Tunisia so we knew what to expect. Don’t go to this hotel expecting everything to be perfect and you should be fine.
The food was nice except for the breakfast, but you will definitely not go hungry at this hotel.
The hotel is a nice walk down the beach from the town From here we went on a trip aboard the Paradise. It cost us 30 dinars for two and we enjoyed it very much.
We also attended the hotel Bbq which was good value at 54 dinars for two and we drank two bottles of local wine while enjoying the entertainment and food on offer.
The holiday ended on a bad note when we were asked to leave our room 8 hours before departure for our 10 past midnight flight, despite the fact that we were told otherwise by reception at 8 o clock that morning. The empty rooms were reserved for the east Europeans who were staying at this hotel.
As I had handed out plenty of tips during my stay to the staff and I never saw one of them tip the hardworking staff, it was annoying to be treated in this way.
I probably won’t return to Tunisia again. The hotel owners may not miss the Brits but the waiters will.

The hotel was wonderful could not have asked for anything better. The rooms were adequate and clean, maid came in every day cleaned, changed beds and towels.
The food we could not fault, there was a good selection at every meal to suit all nationalities. It was hot and plenty of it.
The facilities at the hotel were good, gym, sauna, massage and beauty parlours, hair salon, indoor pool and outdoor pools tennis court all right next to the beach.
The staff were very helpful and polite, but they are not geared up for bad weather, which we had in March.
Be aware of the taxis that wait in their dozens outside the hotel gates you have to barter with them or ignore and use the local transport, and I don’t think any of the drivers on the highway code.
Do be very aware of the medinas, the store holders can be very nasty and rude, very pushy if you don’t buy the swear at you.
Would not be in a hurry to go back to Tunisia.

We have been going to Tunisia every...
7 / 10
May 2007, Ms J Marlow

We have been going to Tunisia every New Year for the past 10 years. Always staying in an El Hana Hotel.
This year we decided to stay in Sol El Mouradi hotel. We arrived on New Year’s Eve at 20.00 hrs. The gala meal was underway and staff were great they quickly got us settled and we were seated in restaurant eating by 20.50.
I do believe that this was the early stages of the all inc. and we were to experience the teething problems of the surly bar staff, who did not want to serve us drinks (problem was they were used to receiving the spare coins left over from peoples orders).
I understand that they are used to living off their tips but it was not our problem and we should not be the ones who suffer. After all I had paid 700 each for one week for 2 adults, a 13 year old and a 15 year old.
There was always animosity every evening between guests and bar staff. I'd sit back and observe. They even altered the clock so they could stop serving at 23.40.
I spoke with the quality manager about my many observations. i.e. false advertising of free ice creams and pizzeria etc. There was only one bar open.
The children’s entertainers were 100% dedicated my boys loved the sports. The hotel was spotless and reception staff marvellous only fault I had was the bar staffs reluctance to serve I would not go back.
After all I spent 2800 pounds to be banished to bed at 12.00 hours each night.
Being a quality manager myself I advised their Quality team they had some work to do, one particular evening we experienced well over 40 angry people exploding with anger in the bar.
I adore the resort and surrounding areas such as Sousse. Over the last 10 years we have seen many changes to the area and did every trip that there is we have no other complaints what so ever.
I will go back but NOT to Sol El Mouradi.

Feb 2007, andimacc

This hotel has been upgraded to all inclusive and it was lovely.
We went for a winter break and although it was sunny it was windy.
The food was excellent with lots of choice for dinner and tea and theme nights, in fact it’s been the best we have had!
It is on the beach and you can walk either way, not much outside, only a few shops and a golf course and its not far to the port if you want to walk, but a taxi is only 3 dinar.
Would definitely recommend it and I would return.

I have just returned from the El...

Sep 2006, Mrs DM Woodruff

I have just returned from the El Mouradi at Port El Kantaoui with my partner. This is the first time we have visited Tunisia. When we arrived at 3 a.m. to a deadly quiet hotel and a less than welcoming receptionist (not even the offer of a drink which we could have done with, but I bought a bottle of water). A porter appeared from nowhere and whisked us into the lift without a word. I found this a bit scary.
We didn’t know what the place was like till the morning. What a lovely surprise, beautiful blue sky, sea view and the room was spotless. We noticed there was a leak from the toilet cistern which we reported and it was mended within about 10 minutes. We went for breakfast where we were warmly welcomed, and the friendliness just went on.
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, who worked really hard to ensure we all had a good time. As I am not a breakfast eater, I only ate bread and jam, but my partner seemed to enjoy a continental style breakfast. I thought the breakfasts were geared towards the French and the Germans. But the evening meal - spoilt for choice, absolutely delicious, something for everyone. Anyone who complains about the food, I don't know what they are used to! Our bed linen was changed daily, by a lovely cleaner. We would go back but not on a night flight.
Our Panorama rep Nabil was informative and humorous and told us all the little things to be careful of i.e. crossing the road, which we didn't try, but got a taxi into the marina. I have never come back from a holiday with so much money left, everything is so cheap, eating out and leather goods. I didn't haggle but went to a fixed price shop. It was a bit of a nuisance when you couldn't browse in peace.
I did get had by a dear old man selling English magazines and old papers. I bought this crumpled magazine, and when I got back to the hotel and looked through, the crossword had been done! I expect he likes people like me! Hope other tourists find this review helpful.

Imagine waking up every day to the...
10 / 10
Apr 2006, Miss Globetrotter

Imagine waking up every day to the sound of the birds singing, as you draw open your curtains sunlight seeping into the room fulfilling you with warmth and the satisfaction of you staying in a beautiful, hotel and surrounding, with friendly, helpful people, amazing but weird culture, and the gorgeous food.
The Sol El Mouradi, port el Kantaoui has been one the best holidays I have been on, the beautiful beaches and complex emphasizes how beautiful Tunisia can be.
The grand reception gives a great first impression with marble floors, winding staircases, and chandeliers. The doormen run to your assistance to help you carry your bags and friendly help and advice surrounds you. Rooms are placed over 3 floors, and gives a more welcoming feel as size can often be overpowering, we where situated on the 1st floor. The room was of an average size very clean, and tidy with modern televisions, and furnishings and was very nice.
Rooms are tidied cleaned and changed every day.
Food was amazing and there is soooo much variety. Taste the culture while there is still food for all other tastes. The breakfast is great as you can have crepes, omelet, loads and loads of different breads, cereal, salad, fruit and lots of cooked food. But you are just as spoilt for choice at dinner with all the carefully hand crafted flower and food arrangements and the biggest and most beautiful cakes and dessert i have ever seen. All this is self service so you can go up as many times as you want and eat as much as you want.
There are 3 main pools inside with a Jacuzzi which is very nice, two outside with adjoining baby or smaller pools for younger children. The ones outside are not heated however it is usually sooo hot that it is really nice to cool down and they do warm up as the day goes on. Relaxing by the pool is one of the best things because you get the sun the pool and the beach.
The complex is basically on the beach and you are so close, you get great views.
The water is so clear and clean and the sand is warm and soft. The beach is suitable for all ages as of the space for younger children and also there is lots of water sports for all ages to participate, the parachuting is definitely the best one they have going though. Just down the beach about a 20-5 minute walk you will come to the port, a beautiful setting, surrounded with shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, ships and boats.
At the hotel their is also ongoing entertainment all throughout the day with regular timetables for loads of activities for everyone to join in with from yoga to darts to Tunisian dance lessons! There is something for everyone and will keep you busy and amused!
There are two bars and a restaurant open for lunch, the bars are open for all of your drinks you need during the day in which are reasonable in price. Also in the evening they stay open until 2 am in which includes entertainment in one which is great fun for all.
However if you want there are many excursions in which you can go on I went on three and had such a laugh. The trip to Carthage in which you visit a small artist village with beautiful views, a mosaic museum and the roman ruins which are amazing. I don’t think this trip would interest younger children however the roman ruins are a must see and would go on this trip just for that factor.
The Zulu dance and wildlife park was the best trip. An afternoon and night of fun. You get to see wild animas, eat traditional food, endless water wine and coke and watch amazing dancing music acting and you can even join in with a bit of tribal dancing belly dancing and drum playing!
The camel caravan was also very good choose between a camel, horse, donkey or horse and cart and begin your trip through the olive trees! You will see bread making as well as tasting, feed the camels, watch them drink there favourite drink coke, and relax on your ride.
This holiday was great in, weather, culture, excursions, people, history, complex, food, tradition and the spirit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I am sure they would have just as good as time as I did.

8 / 10
Dec 2005, plokij_uhyg

Family of 5 went to this hotel over Easter. Weather was cool for the locals but very pleasant for us.
Hotel decor was a bit dated, but the complex was huge. Kids loved playing hide & seek. Main outdoor pool was out of action, but the second pool was being used by a few brave Germans. Indoor pool was in operation & did have a life guard on duty all the time my son was swimming there.
Nightlife in the hotel was varied, the animators kept the kids entertained twice a day for 2 hours each, & the mini disco was well attended by the children. Songs from various countries were played in the evening &all the kids seemed to enjoy themselves.
After the mini disco, there was a show put on, from a magician to local musicians, a quiz night, & a bizarre lady balancing pots on her head.
Hotel rooms were cleaned daily, towels were replaced daily. Rooms were comfortable with 3 beds.
Food was excellent, buffet style. The cakes were divine!!! Make sure you fill up on the salads first if you want to keep trim.
Kids were sad to leave, made a good friend with Nabila, one of the animators. Had a lovely time.

Hotel is very nice with HUGE gardens,...
7 / 10
May 2004, superscouse

Hotel is very nice with HUGE gardens, tennis courts, 2 outdoor adult pools, 2 o/d baby pools and one heated indoor for cold weather only. They have a disco in a different building so it doesn’t disturb anyone, multiple bars, a mini bank for changing cash into dinars and moorish cafe for smoking that weird Tunisian stuff. Archery, darts, aqua aerobics, you name it. The dining room is large with self service meals so quantity is not an issue. After 10 days I got bored with the meals so went onto salads. The food was good and varied though. The staff were fine, not overly friendly and guest comment cards were liberally distributed. They followed up promptly on any issues raised.
The rooms were fine but the bathrooms were a little shabby where chipped tiles were polyfillered rather than replaced. Loads of hot water and a shower in the bath so powerful the fire brigade could use it.
A sister hotel - the El Mouradi Palace is next door and you are free to use their facilities as well although it is more pricey for payable things like massage. It also has internet that I used for a reasonable fee but only dial up available (slooooooooow)
The only downside is if you want something outside the hotel there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. There is a marina you can visit which is very classy but the touts in the surrounding shops can be very overbearing. One guy told me he knew me and wanted to help me as he worked in my hotel. When I asked him which one, he was wrong. HA HA
If you want to do nothing for your holiday go here. If not stay away.
