For our honeymoon we decided to go to Bali and booked the Melia Beneo resort. WOW!! What an amazing place!! The hotel was absolutely fantastic, the staff friendly and welcoming. on arrival we were given ice cold towels, welcome drinks and garlands, within minutes we were shown to our room. As we had paid the extra for the Gold All Inclusive Upgrade, we were given one of the executive suite...amazing room, clean, up to date, with view onto the pool/ garden and a sea view from the door. Couldn't have asked for more. The other benefits to paying the extra for the Gold Upgrade were mini bar, a variety of different drinks, room service, daily laundry, reserved beach chairs, free internet access, room cleaned daily- new bed linen and towels, late check out plus everything which is on the blue package!! The food was amazing, the the choice of three different places to eat- buffet on the beach/garden, El Patio or Amarta italian restaurant (both a la carte). Each mornig breakfast was held in the El patio room, looking onto the garden and pond. Not once did we think "don't like that" as there was so much to choose from. The staff always served us with a smile a friendly greeting. The grounds were spotless along with the beach, each day they were cleaned removing any leaves that fell from the trees to removing the seaweed from the shore!! Entertainment was Balinese cultural shows and cabaret shows, so if you want the clubbing/disco night life, then book a taxi from hotel transport desk and head for Kuta, as this is one thing the hotel does not offer, which was absolutely fine with us and it was nice to stay somewhere and just hear nothing/sound of the sea in the evenings. When we were there they were celebrating the full moon and held a ceremony in the hotel temple, preparing for three days but it did not have any knock on effect on our stay. As part of their culture/ ceremony, they did hold a cock fight around the back of the hotel, which some people found upsetting and cruel. No one made them watch. Our answer to this is either don 't watch, or go out for the day!! I would recommend anyone to go, it is an outstanding hotel and deserves its five stars and more. Will definately returning The island itself is a truely stunning place with people to suit.
