Risata Bali Resort Hotel

We spent a week at the Risata in June. As this was our first time to Bali we were unsure of whether to stay in Kuta or not and decided the location of the Risata was a good compromise. The hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk from the centre of Kuta and about 10 from the Discovery Mall. The hotel also runs a shuttle service but we found that it is was easier (and probably quicker) to walk as there is very heavy traffic along the route. We recently stayed in Bali for three weeks with our 4 kids. This is our 3rd/4th trip to Bali, but the first time post-bombing and with the kids. Our 1st week was at the Risata, which is by far the best Kuta-based Hotel we have stayed in. The hotel is primarily time-share based and this is how we came to stay there. We did have to do a 90 min presentation, which was very relaxed and easy. This was our fourth time that we stayed at the Risata Hotel and we will be heading down there again February 2008. We have nothing but praise to say about the hotel. The staff are incredible and really they all try to get to know all of their guests. My husband and I have lived in the tropics for many years so it was not necessary for us to be staying at a hotel on the beach. We went to Risata Bali on a timeshare exchange and it was an inexpensive exchange points wise so we were happy with what we got- that considering. The beach at Tuban was grotty and there was rubbish everywhere and you couldn't move for hawkers- we know they are trying to make a living but in the end you just staying by the pool. People we spoke to said they went up to the waters edge and saw feaces. Our unit was fine but when we ran water it stank of sewerage. We purchased an RCI Timeshare unit there some years ago and have only had the opportunity to stay there about 3 times since, however we could not have lucked into a better timeshare in my books. Can't speak highly enough of the location - close to some great restaurants, waterbom park and shopping, 20 min walk into Kuta. Hotel gardens are some of the best I've seen, and each time we've stayed the staff have been very friendly (1st name basis in 2 days and keep a watchful eye on the kids) you also get to use some of the neighbouring... more
