Too many mosquitos!
from JakartaMember
I stayed at the Sanur Paradize Plaza for one night as part of a conference package. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly enough. My bathroom (toilet and bath) was outside, although if that bothers you I think that there were some rooms with inside bathrooms. I had lunch at the Brasserie restaurant, and it was decent. The hotel is not on the beach, though it is close to Sanur area beaches. It's about 20 minutes by car to get to the Kuta/Seminyak area. The price of the hotel was included in the conference package, so I can't speak to the value. It is more of a leisure hotel than for business - the wireless internet in the room did not work (although the hotel guide said there was dial up available...), and the business center was not always staffed. My only real complaint is that there was a massive mosquito problem in the room. I woke up with at least 15 bites. There were no coils or electrical deterrants in the room, so I would suggesting asking for some. Or, bring some repellent and douse yourself before bed!
Not a paradise at all
from Ray26
Me and my family went to Bali from 17/2/07 - 20/2/07, stayed in Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel, from airport took around 30 minutes to reach. Hotel security is good as they will check your items before entering the hotel. We were greeted by front desk staff, and a Japanese speaking guest services officer as well. While checking in, we were served with some cold drinks which is good as the weather there is unbearable - too hot. Booked 2 rooms through travel agent, rooms were given nearby each other. My room was okay but the other room were stinked by smell of cigarettes. Requested to change room, it only took 5-10 minutes for the process. After putting down our bags, found out that the room's furniture was old, broken drawers, old towels, bedsheet & shower curtain were stained, and bathroom really need some maintenance work. Went to Jimbaran Beach for dinner, whereby you can see sunset and have barbeque seafood. View was great and food was good as well. Came back found out the safety box was locked by previous guest. Called up operator, but was informed that only tomorrow morning able to unlock it as their General Manager only has the security code - which I wondered what if in emergency cases? Went for breakfast the next morning at the Coffee House, breakfast varities were limited, so imagine if you are staying for 3-4 nights, same breakfast everyday. Overall the activities there consist of watching traditional dances, sightseeing and shopping. For shoppers, please bargain the items that you would like to buy, if the prices can't be reduced, just proceed to another shop as mostly shops are selling the same items- wood carving products, t shirts and women accessories. For money changers, please find authorise money changer only as some will charge you 5 % of interest which I think is ridiculous. For transportation, please find a meter taxi only as some of the taxi drivers are not using them. Overall, my experience in Bali was average only, didn't exceed my expectations.
Loved our stay !

We stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks during Sept 2006 we had another couple with us and we all really enjoyed our stay here, the staff and service was great and eveyone of us said that we would stay there again. We booked the basic rooms and when we got there we paid to upgrade to the courtyard rooms which are very nice, the lay out of the pool is great and you geta little deck area with chairs to sit and relax in the evenings with the view of the pool, the upgrade cost next to nothing .....when you are there they charge you less than the internet rates. They had a gym that we foun to be good enough for being on a trip and the breakfast was always good .....a great place to stay !
I Love Sanur Paradise
from baliselalu
Sanur Paradise Plaza is a lovely big and sprawling hotel, yet cozy and intimate. The rooms and bathrooms are well appointed with tasteful upholstery, and extremely clean. The buffet breakfast that is included in the room rate of Rp380000 p/nite is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is quiet and relaxing in this northern part of Sanur. The area is safe, bright and clean. The hotel provides free shuttle coach to/from the beach which is less than 5 mins ride away. I'll be back!
We just had a great staying!

We stayed in the hotel for the periode of 2006.04.14 until 2006.04.30. Some people let us doubt for choosing this hotel, because: . not situated directly on the coast . no windows can be opened (in the not superior rooms), there is no balcony . rooms are close to each other (like a 'chicken battery'). (we stayed in room 351third floor, at the end of the corridor) None of these disadvantages seemd a problem for us, because: . hotel is not situated directly on the coast indeed, but only a couple of hundred meters away. It is only five minutes walking, and you dont have the disadvantage of noise,.. of the coast activities . windows cannot be opened, but the airco is excellent. We have to admit that we nearly never stay in the hotel during our stating, a hotel is just for sleeping and the use of the bathroom. Why using a balcony when you have an excellent garden and enough place to sit and ly down near the extremely long swimming pool?? . we only once had ten minutes problem with the bad accoustic between rooms, when, the second night after arrival, a couple of Chinese people arrived in their room at 02.00 AM, and made a lot of noise busting doors, shouting at each other,.. I knocked on their door, and the noise stopped immediately. The staff was very friendly, we had a couple of nice attentions (fruit at arrival, a nice peace of pastry the day before we left, with a poem for my wife (was the manager mr. Bell trying to pick off my lovely wife? ;-) ). Just had a great time! Paul Braem Bruges-Belgium
Good hotel in a quiet position on the outskirts of Sanur.

We stayed at this hotel over Christmas & New Year (24.12.05 – 7.1.06) Room number 114 – ground floor overlooking the pool Flew out of Manchester with Singapore Airlines and had two nights stopover in Singapore on the way out to Bali and on the return. We arranged for the hotel to pick us up from the airport in the courtesy bus. No problems here and the driver was waiting for us with a signboard. The cost was 9 US dollars or 80,000 Rupiah. He was very pleasant and informative. I think it is slightly cheaper if you take one outside of the airport, but as 50,000 Rupiah is approx £3 it didn’t break the bank. Our first impressions of the Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel were not good. However, this quickly changed when we got into the reception area. I think that after the glitz of the Singapore hotels it is a little bit of a shock when you get to Bali, as some parts of the buildings all look as if they could do with a good jet clean. We soon found out that this was because of the high humidity and that the statues were all made of dark grey concrete. From the first moment we stepped into the hotel we were very well treated and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. We were presented with our room keys and vouchers for breakfast and discounts for the spa. We were then taken to our room by a porter who took charge of our cases and also explained how to use the a/c, TV etc. The breakfast buffet is very good and caters for all tastes. ROOM: Pleasant and roomy with a door directly out to a small patio and the pool area. Basic but had a comfortable double bed, TV, mini bar and cocktail cabinet, adequate wardrobe/drawer space (could do with more hangers), two armchairs and small table, dressing table, hairdryer in dressing table drawer (blow drying nozzle) – this was secured to the wall and could not be moved). Sockets are of the European type (2 pin), but there was one 3 pin plug on the cocktail cabinet. Two bottles of drinking water were delivered each day. Tea & coffee making facilities are available and these are also replenished daily. BATHROOM: Not plush but adequate. Good shower over the bath that had hot water at all times, shower curtain. Wash basin unit with large mirrors on three walls. Flush toilet and tiled floor and walls. Towels were changed every day and toiletries replenished on a regular basis. POOL TOWELS: Available at the pool – no payment required but you did have to sign for them. SAFE: In room and free of charge. You can book trips from the hotel and the service was very efficient. You also book outside as there are many tour operators that are after your business. Outside you will find taxi/mini cab drivers who will take your wherever you want to go and these are very cheap. We used the services of ‘Bobby’ who looked after us for two weeks. He took us all over the island and to places that were not on the regular tourist routes. His phone number is ------. He was very pleasant and only took us to where we wanted to go. The cost of a taxi to Kuta was approx £4/5 = 70,000 Rupiah. Sanur was 20,000 Rupiah that is approx £1.20 – about 10 mins away. Agree the price before you get in. We only eat in the poolside restaurant and this was very good (Café Komodo). A little bit more expensive than outside, but worth it. We tended to go into Sanur or Kuta in the evening. The food is good and you can get western food if you want a change from the excellent Indonesian noodles and fried rice. The sate we had both in the evening and in the many beach bars was always very good. Alcohol is more expensive, but not over the top. The local wine (Hatten) is drinkable (usually Rosè). You can get Aussie wine, and this usually worked out at about £12.00 bottle. GROUNDS: Very well kept. Meandering pool area and gardens with pools, fountains and statues. Lush tropical greenery and plants. The hotel is situated in a street close to a beach that is not used by holidaymakers and is more for the locals. You can walk to the hotel beach if you want to – takes about an hour and is pleasant (turn right at the end of the road). You do have to run the gauntlet of lots of vendors who are keen to sell you there wares. We did this a few times, both ways but mostly took the hotel shuttle bus. The hotel section of the beach is a little disappointing. The access is over a really scruffy section and could be better. There are pool towels available and sun beds. There is only three parasols and these were always taken before 11.00am. If you want shade you will need to move your sun bed under the palm trees (oh dear what a hassle). With a little though the layout could be much better – two sunbeds with table and parasol. There is a small café where you can get snacks and drinks. You will be waiting on hand and foot and you really do not need to stray very far if this is what you want to do. You will be hassled by ladies who want to give you a massage, manicure and pedicure. Again very cheap and we took advantage of all three. The ladies are very pleasant and if you say no will go away. All other hotel beaches are the same and have their own set of ladies. The beach is okay but do not expect pristine soft white sandy beaches as in the Caribbean – they are more golden in colour and not as pretty. There are plenty of boat trips, pedalos, hang gliding etc to be had all along the beach area. Also many different bars and restaurants that offer good food at very cheap prices. Service at all is exceptional and friendly. Sometimes it can be a little slow, but it is hot all said and done and local beer (Bintan) is good.

Hotel is located on the quiet side of Sanur. It would rate a 3.5 just under a 4 star. Rooms are comfy and very clean. Bathrooms are a bit dated and need renovation. Staff are great and very helpful. For the price this hotel is great. If you don’t like catch lots of taxis or like lots of night life then this is not the place to say.
Paradise Plaza Hotel

Hotel was lovely, but it was out of the way from the beach and Sanur town. There was nothing around to do round about. Apart from the Hotel restaurant there were only 4 small tavernas - best one was the "Corridor" Bali was quite a disappointment, doubt I will be going back
Good option for affordable luxury beach hotel in Bali
from hibachi
We stayed at this hotel in February 2005. It has some definite pros and cons. The cons: it's not directly on the beach, so it doesn't have any big "views" or direct beach access (the hotel is oriented around a nice inner courtyard/pool area). Rooms were on the small side. The Plaza is an older luxury hotel so it doesn't have the ambiance or services of a newer / more expensive hotel (like the Sanur Hyatt down the street). The hotel at the edge of the Sanur tourist area, so it's a longer (and hotter) walk (or a short cab ride) to the Sanur main street (shopping, restaurants). The Sanur tourist zone is smaller than the Kuta zone, so it's less "first world / fully westernized" than Kuta is, and has fewer restaurants, shops, bars, etc. The Sanur beach is OK but overall not as nice or pretty as other beaches (Kuta, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran). There also aren't as many water sports options (parasail, banana boat, diving, etc) at Sanur compared to Nusa Dua. But this hotel has a lot of pros: it's much more affordable than the higher-end luxury hotels (Hyatts, Four Seasons, etc.). By contrast, we had drinks and dinner at the Sanur Hyatt and it was expensive (full American prices, $20 for fruit drinks and $70 for dinner). The Plaza's common spaces and our room were very clean. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Food at the hotel was fine, with several restaurants and bar areas, including poolside. Pool was very nice. Hotel has a spa. Beach is only a 5 min walk away. There are a number of pleasant restaurants and bars in Sanur, both on the main Sanur street or in the adjoining big hotels. You can walk to them via street or along the beach, or take a a taxi for a dollar or two, there are drivers everywhere offering to drive you. (Check balieats for restaurant recommendations.) If you need western food, Dunkin Donuts and KFC are across the street, as is a nice jazz club, bakery, and restaurant (we had lunch there and it was good). This hotel great for people-watching, very international: most high end hotels in Bali seem to get dominated by one type of tourist or another (mostly Australians, or mostly Japanese, or mostly local/Indonesian, etc.) but you see a big mix of people at the Plaza. The Plaza has become a place where well-off locals have their wedding parties, etc. so the lobby is always full of people coming and going. The hotel is a very convenient location if you want to stay near the beach but you're also doing driving tours to the rest of the island. Almost all the island's tourist spots (Ubud, various temples, etc.) are north of Sanur / Denpasar / Jimbaran / Nusa Dua, and traffic is heavy and driving slow. From Sanur, Ubud is only 45 min away, so it's easy to go to Ubud just for the day. If you're down in the Nusa Dua area, it's a 45-min drive just to get to Sanur. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, as long as the person was aware of the pros and cons. If somebody was only in Bali to do a beach vacation and wanted to pampered and never leave the hotel, then there are other hotels in Nusa Dua or Jimbaran Bay that would offer a better (if more expensive) experience.
Paradise Plaza Hotel is just that - Paradise
from lucksta
I have stayed at the Paradise Plaza Hotel in Bali twice and most definitely will stay again. A short walk to the beach markets at Sindu-beach then back in time for the full buffet breakfast. Then a dip in the pool, a game of billards, table tennis and I think time for a 'Tom Collins' at the bar. (It's 11 am isn't it?) The Paradise Plaza really suits families as well. The Sanur area is quieter than in or around Kuta and it's only 20 minutes to go there for shopping. Then back to the quiet life. The Paradise Plaza's bars and restrauants are excellent. They often have great deals where you can purchase a passport allowing to get 1/2 price food/discounted drinks at the Paradise Plaza. This will save you a fortune, particularly if you buy it from day one. Get a massage everyday at the plaza or go across the road to the local shops for it. The people are friendly at the Paradise Plaza and ALWAYS eager to help. You give them all a tip as it costs you hardly anything at all. Bali is a beatitiful place and Sanur is as good as it gets there. Very central area. Call in at the jazz club for some live jazz or blues. It 3 minutes walk away (near KFC.) I cannot speak highly enough of the place. The management team are all great and the CEO is always willing to help where he can. Not that you'll need any of his help as there are always an abundance of staff around. Need to get around? I use a very trusted friend. His name is Julian. He is very trusting, looking after your valuables in the car, he drives well and can help you out where to go, and how much you should pay for things. He has a email ketutjuliana@hotmail.com Send him an email and he will turn up at the airport in his 8 seater mini bus to take you around. He will soon become your friend too. Ask for Julian when in Sindu Beach. They all know him or call him 08123944518. This num,ber is from Bali so look up the internation code. This is all you need whilst there. You won't be disappointed

we went to Bali with global for my husband's 60th birthday, we had a fabulous holiday, accommodation and flights were exellent, we were so impressed with them that we are going to thailand with them next year, we have been with many travel agents over the years, and we would recommend global as they were exellent.
