I would recommend this resort to everyone. It is very big. We went in November and had a lot of rain. The swimming pools were massive and very clean. The food was varied with chicken, pasta seafood pretty much everything.
The lobster thermadore was about £10.00 for one that was too big for the plate.
The hotel room was big and spacious. The room service was also very good and quick.
Where the hotel is situated there is a promenade. If you turn right out of the back of the hotel you will come across lots of different restaurants and bars. There are also lots of shops.
Unfortunately, there was not a lot to buy out there for gifts for people back home.
We went on a trip to Ubud which is really a little town of arts and crafts. We saw lots of rice fields along the way!
My most memorable trip was the elephants. We rode on the elephants and they took us into the water and got us wet! Then we had lunch at the sanctuary and after watched the elephant show where the elephants performed clever tricks.
The sea is very warm here. We also went to the bomb sites which was quite disturbing.

This was our 3rd visit to the Grand Bali Beach.
It’s classed as a 4 star but is getting in need of some TLC in some of the rooms.
The beach frontage is extensive, which is very nice. We spoke to a few people who were staying at hotels that weren’t on the beach and from their reports the GBB scored high here. The beach is raked and cleaned every day.
We stayed in one of the Garden wings and our room was large and well furnished with a massive extra-king-sized bed (our request rather than twin beds), table & easy chairs and fridge.
The air-conditioning was very effective. The bathroom, although clean, was in need of some refurbishment. The room boy was lovely and the service he gave was excellent.
The public areas were very clean. The lobby of the Tower Wing is very impressive.
There are shop units as you walk through the hotel but unfortunately quite a few of these were empty which adds to the ‘run-down’ impression.
There are 3 swimming pools, we used the Tirta pool. There were quite a few sunbeds around the main pool and dotted throughout the grounds, although some of the garden rooms that faced the pool (ours didn’t) seemed to have ‘acquired’ sunbeds for their own personal use, a practice that the management should put a stop to.
We were on room-only basis and never ate in the hotel at all.
We were happy with the location, although some people may find it a bit far out as it is on the extreme end of Sanur Beach.
