Perfect combo for Patong Beach.
from ThaiGuy
The Amari is really nice. Good food, great location. This place is the perfect combo of action and relaxing. It takes about two minutes to get to the main strip at Patong Beach via a Tuk Tuk (a mini taxi) or you can walk in about 10 minutes. There are two nice pools with bars, but they still maintain a relaxing feeling. I suggest getting the one of the Superior rooms as the spa is on one side and the pool and a nice buffet restaraunt (where breakfast is served) is on the other, with the beach right in front. So if you plan to spend time at any of those places, that is the room for you (It's the mid priced room). It really pays off to get off that Patong strip from time to time due to the constant hassling of Tuk Tuk guys, Suit Makers (the most annoying), and Clothing Shops. They are in a sell, sell, sell, mood all day and night. If your staying on the Patong strip I don't see how you can really escape that, as I was sitting at a bar having a beer and was getting hassled half the time to buy a wooden frog among other things. When you get back to the Amari, it's like a 50 pound weight lifted off your shoulders (22.679618 kg). Haha. Overall the place is really nice & clean, modern, the staff is wonderful, etc. It's great.
paradise at an afforable price

My boyfriend and I stayed at Amari for three nights following a 10-day tour of northern thailand. The service was by far the BEST out of the five hotels we stayed at in thailand. In addition, we ate at two of the resorts' restaurants and found the meals to be absolutely delicious. The spa is another experience not to be missed. The massage room is set in a jungle like setting high on the cliff. The room is actually an open air thatched roof hut overlooking the ocean. The massage itself was a great stress reliever after a very hectic tour and was probably one of the best massages I ever had. The selling point for this hotel must be the ocean views from EVERY hotel room. Our room, 1210, was right by the beach and we woke up to the sound of ocean waves and the beautiful patong bay every morning. We did travel to thailand during low season, but at $65 dollars a night this resort is an AMAZING value. I would DEFINITELY stay at Amari Coral Bay Resort again for our next vist to Phuket.
It's like visiting heaven!

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel and I can just say there couldn't have been a better place for our honeymoon! The hotel is beautiful, the service is excellent and the people are so friendly! You must try out the buffet breakfast and the Italian Restaurant La Gritta, which has some of the most sumptuous food i've ever tasted. Especially visit La Gritta for dinner and you can catch a view of the coat area and the cool ocean breeze! Of course, the Jetty was my all-time favorite for an evening alone. The rooms are clean and tastefully done up. I'd advise a stay on the ground floor to watch the sea water reach up to the balcony. I think the hotel staff gave us the best room possible. This is one place I wouldn't mind going back to and it's something to be experienced!
Didn't measure up

After reading the excellent reviews for this hotel, I was excited to book at what I thought was a pretty good rate. After staying for a long weekend, I cannot believe that this is the place that others described. The hotel room was furnished in a style that made me think of my son's dorm room at college. This probably would have been fine except that our air - conditioning stopped working the second day there and the hotel did not move our room. The hotel was not very full and yet their option was to give us another room to "sleep" in for the night but that we should stay in the original room. They never fixed the a/c and we continued to move rooms to sleep (but had to shower and relax in a room without airconditioning) The areas that I felt the hotel was significantly below standard for both Thailand and Phuket: - rooms were only adequate - poor response to serious issue (it was in the mid-90's outside with no a/c) - no service ethic - the staff was not focused on offering service in any form e.g. sat at the pool for 5+ hours and was offered a beverage one time (though there were 4 staff standing near the bar), tried to book a dive trip when the shop was closed and they did not know how to organize. I had to get the number and call myself. Sat in the upstairs bar for a long while with no one asking if I wanted a drink. - no beach (the small strip of rocky sand is not wide enough for a towel and quite dirty) In summary, for the price there are any number of much nicer hotels in Phuket. To get this quality service, you should be paying much much less. I checked out early and left and others I met during my stay were also considering cutting their trips short.
Great Location and Hotel ...
from ThailandLovers
My husband and I stayed, along with a couple of friends, stayed at the Amari Coral for 2 weeks in August. Having stayed at the Amari Palm Reef Resort in Koh Samui last year and found the standard of service, food etc to be extremely good, it prompted us to look into staying at another Amari. We were not disappointed. The location is great for those that want to be in walking distance to Patong but also enjoy a tranquil location. We, like others, found the top pool to be much quieter than the bottom one, although we did have trouble getting pool loungers on the last few days. We only ate in the Thai restaurant once, as we found the price and quality of food to be much better outside. Drinks were also rather expensive, especially the wine, but we did enjoy happy hour cocktails of an evening where you got half price drinks. All rooms have a view over the ocean and we stayed in a standard room which was a little small but then again, you don't spend too much time in there anyway. We did get to see a Deluxe room and were glad we didn't spend the extra money for one. Breakfast was fantastic, and the staff are very friendly, efficient, helpful and always smile. We had some suits made at the Tailors - my friends had quite a bit of trouble with a couple of dresses, but my husband's suit was fine. Overall, a great place to relax having the benefit of being in walking distance to Patong.
Great 2 weeks at the Amari
from MrB999
Just returned from 16 days at the Amari with wife and 11 yr old boy, all really enjoyed it. Idillic beach side location, good service with friendly staff always ready to help. We got a good low season deal with Trailfinders, flights and b&b hotel together. Also arranged our airport transfers through the hotel, this worked out well and was reasonably priced at 650B each way for efficient and friendly service. Location great, 100B for a tuktuk into Patong, although we tried to walk one way to burn the breakfast off - great choice at the buffet. We went for the standard room which was fine, we got a lovely room overlooking the sea which was fine for 3 of us. We didn't eat in the resort restaurants although they look very good if relatively expensive, generally had a beer at happy hour watching the sun go down (50% off at the lower pool bar) and went to town for dinner. Had a massage in the Spa which was excellent - great setting overlooking the sea, but be prepared to pay for it! - well worth it though. Couple of minor gripes to look out for. They put mineral water and regular water in the room and allow you 2 bottles a day. Don't have any more than this - we got an additional 600B bill for 2 small evians and 2 regular water after we checked out - if we'd done this everyday it would have been a big bill at the end. although we had tried to avoid the minibar - just emptied the fridge and loaded up at 7-11. Internet in the hotel is a bit of a rip off at 5B/min and can't be charged to the room. Much, much cheaper Internet elsewhere in town.. All in all, would definately stay here again, already thinking about next time. We also considered the Le Meridian Phuket, but having seen it we thought it had a poor location (for us anyway) further out of town and more remote . Holiday Inn Resort also looks a good alternative, more central to the hussle of Patong if thats what you're looking for..
Wonderful Holiday at the Amari
from ChrisPaulMikey
My family recently spend 12 nights at the Amari, and had a wonderful relaxing holiday. As we had our 8 year old son with us we did not want to be right in the middle of the noisy nightlife of Patong, so the location of the Amari is perfect. All the staff were wonderful and friendly, and could not do enough for you. Our son's favourite meal was the buffet breakfast with a huge variety and a lovely outlook over the bay of Patong. We would highly recommend the La Gritta Italian Restaurant, the food is fantastic with magnificant views at night. Additionally treat yourself to a massage or treatment at the spa. Whilst they are more expensive than the ones you can get in Patong, the location and the view from the individual huts is well worth the extra cost. My Husband obtained his Open Water Diving Certificate through the SeaBees Diving School who have a store at the Resort. They are very professional and he recommends them highly. We also had some suits and clothing made at the Tailor at the Resort, and can also recommend them and the high quality of their work. We will definately be back.
Loved it!!

We stayed at the Amari for 10 days during July It was a fantastic experience, the room was great, bed lovely and comfortable. The staff are absolutely unbelievable, they are so friendly and go out of their way to help you, from the bellboy, to the front desk and the lady who sweeps the floor, all had a good morning and a smile-makes the world of difference- top marks. The three restaurants are great as well, the Thai buffet is sensational, so many choices of food and a great floor show. Also funnily enough we had one of our best ever burgers in the restuarants!! Go to Thailand and have a great burger!! The pools were nice and warm, I would recommend the top pool as you don't get all the noisy kids, it's the quiet pool. The distance from Patong is perfect for that comfortable stroll in for dinner or a drink, far enough to be away from the noise, but close enough to be convenient. My only criticism would be there is absolutely no promotion for the happy hours in the bars, even the front desk staff weren't sure about the timings, they had a band playing and only a couple of people at the bar, because NOBODY knew about the happy hour!! Crazy when you think they are running a business, but also good for the sociability of the guests that a nice busy bar is running- that is my only minor complaint Overall a fantastic hotel, in a great location with terrific staff. Top marks!!!!
Only the Amari ...
from checkers
Just returned from an amazing holiday in Phuket and stayed at the Amari Coral Beach Resort for 4 nights. Having previously experienced the Amari Service in Bangkok with the Atrium in February, opting for the Amari Coral Beach over the other hotels was a natural decision. From the many reviews I've read, it does seem that the Amari is rather generous when it comes to offering complimentary upgrades. And I must say - that should be the way to go ain't it? If your rooms aren't filled up, then why not make your guests happier by proferring them a better room? Quintessential Amari Service in full swing (",) ... Personally I know of some hotels that flatly refuse to do any complimentary upgrade on the so-called rationale of "exclusivity". Fair enough for airlines - but hotels? Exclusivity? Doesn't make much sense, does it? To be fair, we were already expecting an upgrade by Mr Duncan Webb - VP of the Amari chain on a goodwill basis when we checked into the hotel at 8am although we weren't absolutely sure that the Amari Coral Beach would allow us to do an early check-in the same way they had when we were in Bangkok. This though, proved to be the least of our worries when the ever-smiling Thai Front Desk folks completed the administrative matters with ease and informed that we've been upgraded from a superior room to a suite! Warm towels and refreshing lemon-grass tea were served. Hmm ... Celestial. In all honesty, we had only anticipated ourselves to be upgraded one class higher to a Deluxe Room but Mr Webb had proved himself to be a Service Champion by exceeding our expectations and further exemplifying the Amari Service through such demonstration that true service indeed begins from the top! The suite we were given was literally Heaven on Earth - and it most probably would be my first and only time I'd ever get to stay in a suite. We had a huge TV that rotates to whichever angle you preferred, a couch with comfy cushions, a king-sized bed with an additional bed (there were three of us) and best of all - a connecting balcony that overlooks the stunning Andaman Sea! A huge bathroom with a bathtub and a shower cubicle, complete with a toilet, two sinks side by side and a weighing machine - which I refuse to go anywhere near. And we had a separate toilet as well on the other side of the room, so we didn't have to experience the agony of having to hold our bladder while one of us is happily immersing ourselves in our bubble-baths! Breakfast is a regal affair. It's a dilemma every morning trying to decide what to eat ... totally spoilt for choice. Western, Asian, Continental, Fruit Platter - you name it, they've got it! And imagine sitting alfresco having your breakfast while listening to waves lapping on the shore. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience ... Service as always was top-notch - everybody always ever ready to help. From the porters to the chambermaids, to the techinician who had to fix my internet connection, to the plumber who had to clear my choked toilet etc. Nobody gave me a face or even made a single negative remark. On the contrary, I was the only one who had to keep looking down and wishing that I could be swallowed by the ground for causing them so much trouble at 3am in the morning. Our return flight to Singapore was rescheduled to depart from Phuket at 8pm instead of 8am - and we were only informed of it at the last minute by the airline. Explained the situation to the Front Desk and were granted a late check-out at 4pm without too much hassle. Even when we were held up at the last minute and could only return to the hotel at 5pm, there were no reprimands nor curt-faced staff telling us that because of our tardiness, we've got to pay an additional day's charge. Phew! Checkout was swiftly processed and we even had time for a shower and some last-minute packing. I definitely concur with the rest who thinks highly of the Amari Coral Beach. The odd one out who made so much noise must have been a hermit who didn't know what stepping out and looking for adventure means. Definitely a place where I'll give two thumbs up! And more if I've got more hands ;) .... Experience the Amari ... and you'll never want to go anywhere else when you're holidaying in Thailand.
Excellent Hotel
from Italy2007England
We have recently stayed at the Amari Coral Beach Resort which was our 4th visit. The hotel has been completed refurbished to an excellent standard following the effects of the tsunami. The hotel is in an excellent location for relaxation and to visit the night life of Patong is only a 10 minute stroll away. The 3 restaurants are of a high standard and the staff provide an excellent service. We can also highly recommend the hotel tailor shop for excellent service and top quality at very reasonable prices.

I used to work for Thomas Cook and got a discount with this hotel. This hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. There was an Italian restaurant within the complex which is very romantic - the bed and breakfast basis is definitely the way to go. Breakfast was via a... more
