beautiful island
I took my 9 year old niece to phi phi in june, it was absolutely beautiful. the rooms were basic but very clean and the service was excellent!! the staff were sooooo freindly. i thought my niece may get a little bored but she loved the swimming pool, and the staff in the diving centre situated in the resort always kept her entertained with snorkels and flippers to play with!! and in the evenings they had entertainers dancing or singing which we both enjoyed!! we also both loved the canoeing in the sea in front of the resort. its not... more
3 years on and the memory is still strong
I stayed here in November 2003 and although that was some time ago, I wanted to share just how memorable this place is. As some have pointed out and yet others seem to forget, this is a remote island. You go there to get away from civilisation and relax, that is the whole point. If you are looking for TV, activities and adventure then go to Las Vegas for cripes sake. There is a TV room by the pool in any case, which was important when we were there due to the Rugby World Cup games. We tranferred to the island via private speedboat,... more
Wonderfull
We stayed 3 nights here in may 2006. We had a wonderfull time. We got a very nice bungalow in the second row with a nice seaview from the terrace. This resort was build many years ago but you can't see that because its so very well taken care about. Everywhere you go it seems fresh and modern. The general manager is a spanish guy called Antonio and he is really taking his job seriuosly, wandering around speaking to the guests. Him and his staff are really trying to do their best so that every guests feel special. The Sunset bar is a must... more
Lovely site
We stayed 4 days and loved the place. Fantastic sunsets and great snorkelling off the beach at mid tide. The local reef was kept rather secret, probably in order to sell more boat trips - we just took one, to Bamboo & Mosquito Islands and Nui Bay. Drinks prices are steep but you can stock up cheaply at the gypsy village along the beach. Our room was excellent - we'd booked months before and got a cheap upgrade to a beachfront room. The food was fine, if not very Thai, except for an appalling, tasteless meal in the bar area. Service was... more
Paradise
This was stop No6 on our three week trip around Thailand as part of our 20th anniversary celebration. WOW. I will try to condense in words how much we loved this place. From the moment our limo (opps I mean tractor) drove onto the eastern side of the island I was in love with this place. It automatically felt comfortable and after our last stop (No5) at Phuket, this was a complete backflip. The water in front of the resort was the most beautiful we found in our travels. The staff were relaxed, happy and friendly. There were lots of... more
total relaxation and peace.
Just returned from 7 nights at the Holiday Inn Phi Phi, the resort was every thing that it was said to be on the web site, just could do with sun beds on the beach instead of deck chairs which are uncomfortable. Very good maid service all linens changed daily, plenty of shade on the beach. Great sea food restaurant (little expensive, but worth it) they are extending the Hotel at the further end of the beach but no noise at all. Bit of a haul getting there but worth it to chill out.
Just came back: 5 out of 10
Me, my wife and our 4 years old son just came back today from a 15 day trip to Thailand. We stayed three nights at Phi Phi island holiday inn. Here are the reasons I gave 5 out of 10 to this so called resort; 1. They are building new 17 bungolows. In the day time you hear construction voices. 2. Holiday Inn Phi Phi is far away from the center of the island and the traditional long tail boats are the only way to reach to the hotel. (one way 650 BHT- 17-USD) For 17-USD (only one way)you can have a great open buffet sea food in... more
Had a nice time at the Holiday Inn
We stayed 3 days at the Holiday Inn and enjoyed ourselves. Three days was enough for us though, as we like to have lots of activities to do. We stayed in a little bungalow, hidden in tropical gardens. Very pretty location, with best waters I have seen in Thailand. I enjoyed my massages every evening after a day at the beach, and loved the band that play every evening, they are really funny, but have good voices. There is a sunset bar, upon the hill where you can sit and watch the beautiful sunset. The hotel was nice enough for us for 3... more
The Paradise
We have been there in January 2006 at a very reasonable price (USD 150,00), cheap, for staying on a exclusive place in peak season. As we were on a long trip and stayed only three nights in Phi-Phi Island we left the hard luggage in Phuket Hotel and paid 1500 bath for a driver to meet us on the Rasada Pier and take us to the airport. This was the best step we take, since carriyng heavy baggage on the way to the Island would be very complicated. The bungalows are very nice, despite of the electric shower. The hotel food is good, but below... more
Fantastic Beach, disappointing service
I returned to the Holiday Inn on Phi Phi Island after a fantastic trip there 3 years ago. Although the beach and the resort itself are fantastic (very quiet, romantic) the service levels of the staff seemed to have dropped dramatically. We constantly had to wait long periods of time at each of the restaurants for service, and when we did order our meals took ages to arrive. Also, on at least 4 occasions, the meals we were served were completely different to what we had ordered. The staff offered no apologies or explanation and were even... more
