Beautiful and relaxing
We spent 6 days at the Santiburi as part of our honeymoon trip to S. E. Asia. A beautiful place to be to relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea. The swimming pool is like a lake and is very quiet. Guests seem to prefer the beach to the pool area, however the beach area never really gets crowded as there are plenty of sun loungers (and hammocks) and a long beach. We stayed in one of the garden villas. Very pleasant but I am not too sure about the bathroom. A little dark and not helped by having a black bath. Food in the hotel... more
family friendly
we (2 adults and 2 children, aged 11 and 8) spent a week at the hotel in April 2006. on arriving at the hotel we were told that we had been upgraded from the 2 bedroom equitorial suites to 2 interconnecting garden villas, a lovely gesture. the villas are in relatively good shape, although the bathrooms could perhaps do with updating. ours had views only of greenery (they were near to the spa) and were some way from the main hotel. all in all we prefered this location to those that looked over the inland waterway which we found too... more
Decent, but not worth it
The resort is very nice, save for the truck tires on their beach. No Thai Iced Tea, which was surprising being an American, as it's in all our Thai restaurants here in San Francisco, even the one called "Koh Samui and the monkey". The staff actually got pissed at me when I asked for it more than once, which was surprising since they say Thai people never get mad. Anyway, the hotel is indeed very nice, and the staff is attentive and attempts to give you good service without getting in your way. That said, there seem to be a lot of other... more
Fantastic honeymoon
Last June we went on honeymoon to the Santiburi in Koh Samui. I don't have words for it. I still whish I was there. We were welcomed by the very pleasant and helpful manager and shown to our rooms with all the help one would expect from a property in this class. It is fantastic 5 star hotel! We stayed 10 nights in a garden villa and had a very romantic stay. The room is of high standard. You also have separate shower and huge bath. The service is very good: the staff's ability to anticipate and look after your every need in such... more
A beautiful place for a relaxing holiday
My husband and I spent two weeks at Santiburi from end February to mid-March and really enjoyed it. The fabulous gardens really make it, along with the lake-sized pool. It was actually less expensive than we expected. Wine and Cocktails are much less pricey than in the Maldives, for example. The hotel restaurants were perfectly acceptable, if not particularly exciting, but we quickly got bored with them, and ate out most evenings. Zazen became our favourite, followed by Prego. I agree with another reviewer that the bar needs a... more
Check out time 5 AM
This is quite a funny story, we wanted to go to Samui but because of the weather we landed in Phuket. We stayed at the Marriott Hotel, what an experience. 2 days later we went as planned to Samui. The staff of the Santiburi was very friendly, they adjusted the reservation and although the hotel was full we could stay for 4 nights.(at least that is what we thought)after the second night they woke us up at 5 in the morning and told us that we had to leave? I have heard about check out times but at 5 in the morning? <br... more
a wonderful resort
I and my family stayed here for six nights over Christmas 2005, flying from Singapore where we all based for a festive season family get-together. On arrival at the hotel late on Christmas Eve we were welcomed by the very pleasant and helpful manager and shown to our rooms with all the help one would expect from a property in this class. We all stayed in garden villas with private jacuzzi. The rooms themslves were very elegant, spacious and comfortable with plenty of outdoor space including the enclosed private courtyard in which the... more
Wonderful Hotel
My boyfriend and i have just returned from a weeks stay at the Santiburi Hotel & Spa. It was a beautiful hotel. We were lucky enough to stay in a Garden Jacuzzi Villa about 10 steps from the beach, room 305! Our villa was lovely, simple Thai decor, you can never go wrong! It was abit of a trek to our room, but we enjoyed the peaceful walk. We didnt use the hotel restaurnt once, although the food did look and smell great, to be honest we thought it was abit pricey. About £20 each for breakfast and £30 each for dinner. Taxis were so cheap... more
Nice Time
We fled the Le Meridein for the Santiburi and had a nice stay. The villas are lovely except for the small round bath we had that took an hour to fill. The jacuzzi was a great extra and nice to relax in with a glass of champagne. The restaurants were a bit tired, lacked va-va-voom and the resort could do with some re-investing but we still had a good time. I would advise pepole to look for some of the boutique resorts that are opening up all over Koh Samui - Zazen, Napasai and others that are new, small and offer great facilities.... more
your private beach house
The Santi Buri resort is a beautiful setting, offers great comfort and privacy. The staff and management is very successful in keeping the place clean and beautiful all the time. We enjoyed the beach, warm water and local food. Our villa on the beach with a private jakuzi-pool was a dream tool. The Spa is very modern and professional. Thanks to Atilla, the manager and his boss for making our stay very pleasurable. Efsane&Nedim Askin
