Buriraya Resort & Spa Hotel

We stayed at the Renaissance for five nights in early April and were very pleased with the service and the surroundings. Everything was five star, including the food, service and facilities. The massage at the spa was top notch as well. Wonderful relaxing holiday, and we would recommend the Renaissance to anyone looking for a quiet, restful resort vacation where you would want to spoil yourself away from the stress of the city.

It was our first going to Koh Samui and someone told us to stay at Sala Samui and the Renaissance Koh Samui. We started our holiday at the Sala Samui and needless to say we left after 3 hours of noise, traffic through the resort and poor service. Well, what was meant to be a very relaxing honeymoon for 10 days, in our own private villa with pool and garden surrounds, turned out to be not quite so! When confirming our reservation, we were advised of some renovations that would take place, but when asked if it would impact our stay, the hotel advised that it was only fire safety and sprinklers so there would be no impact. Going into this vacation we used our honeymoon in Jamacia as our 10 on a 1 to 10 scale. The Buriraya was a 9.5! The hotel itself is an amazing paradise and our room was perfect! Everything matches the photos and descriptions on the webpage. It was extremely intimate and we only ran into other people during meal times. The lush gardens made us feel like we were in a tropical hideaway, and around every corner there was a sculpture, statue, or amazing flowers. We had one of the rooms that had our own lanai and plunge pool. It was fantastic. The rooms are beautiful and very private. The staff was very nice too. I had a massage that was fantastic. It wan't busy while we were there and that was great too. The beach is very small but the set up with the pool and beach was good. We hired a driver to take us around and he was very professional and nice. My only complaint is that it is expensive. At least we felt like we got our money's worth. You gotta pay for luxury.

We decided to go to the Buriraya as it was rated one of the best hotel in Samui. Although the hotel looks beautiful on the web site the reality is very different. We like nice beach, especially if you go Thailand and want to relax. The Buriraya beach is a disaster. It is dirty and you cannot swim and you a mosquito everywhere. So we stayed at the pool which is actually small. The atmosphere is also depressing. My wife went to the spa for a french manicure and got her nail in a worst state as before. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Buririya Resort in March 2005. We made the booking after reading some of the excellent reviews on this site. We had an absolute amazing holiday (and to top it off we also got engaged!) We don't normally write travel reviews but the overall quality of our holiday warranted it in this case. This place is amazing. We have just got back from honeymoon here and it was fantastic. The people are wonderful and can't do enough for you, the food is great, the location is perfect - away from the crowds of the resorts of Chaweng and Lamai but easily accessible by a short, reasonable taxi journey. Great looking resort in a very exotic setting. Good service (although somewhat superficial). Had dinner at both restaurants (Mango Tree and Banana Leaf) - good meals. Breakfast buffet did not spoil us with variety and the food was average, at best. Pool villa was spacious and comfortable - obviously by well planned design. What can I say.. the photos and the brochures that I saw were all true. We stayed at the garden view villa with our own private pool for 5 nights in March 2005. The whole traditional look with beautiful trees and tropical plants made you feel refreshed. The occasional statue or wall murals among the plants are also a great touch... especially at night with all the accent lighting, it looks as if the whole place is glowing.
