A good basic hotel in a great location
I am a travel agent and did a site inspection here for work. This was quite a basic resort, had sort of a budget feel to it. Would suit budget conscious travellers who just want somewhere central in Chaweng. Rooms are of a small to moderate size and have wooden floors with white duvets. It is the bathrooms that let this resort down. They are very dated with blue plastic toilets and blue plastic basins. Deluxe Rooms are of a really good size, but once again they have the same bathroom as the Superior Room and this really lets... more
Friendly, very attentive and happy staff
Hi, We have been to this little hotel 3 times over the years, and we found it a lovely place to stay, the staff were very nice and helpful, the room was clean and quiet, the food was excellent, and the location on the beach could not have been better. We alway choose to go back to this one Hotel because we felt at home. It is right in the heart of a busy part of the Island but once off the main road you hear nothing, it has a lovely garden, and the pool alo small is ideal to cool off, once you walk the few yards from the lovely sandy... more
Lovely location
We stayed here for the last week of our three week stay in Thailand and after Bangkok and Phuket, Ko Samui was much more laid back and we were ready for some relaxation. The airport is an experience in itself - just a couple of thatched buildings, completely open with no walls! It has to be seen to be believed! Ko Samui itself is about 20 years behind Phuket, but still has MacDonalds and Burger King etc. The Beachcomber's location is perfect, right on a beautiful white sandy beach. Each hotel has it's own part of the beach and sunbeds... more
3 Star is about on the money
We walked in off the street looking for some reasonably priced accomodation for our last 2 nights in Chaweng. There was one room left, which we took for $132 Australian per night (3800 baht). The service upon checking in was very good. The villa was closest to reception, but was very quiet all the same. Unfortunately, our air conditioner had some issues, and we woke up in the middle of the night, boiling hot and being bitten by mosquitos. We were off to our (very good) Blue Stars Anthon Marine National Park kayaking and snorkelling... more
A top notch 3 star hotel.
Beachcomber is located at Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui. It's location is great and it's surprising quiet considering it's located right on Chaweng Beach (however, you'll never escape the beeping taxis if you're staying anywhere on Chaweng beach). It's a short walk to all the bars and clubs, so no need to worry about getting a taxi. It is rated as a 3 star hotel, but I think it deserves a higher rating, or a special distinction because this hotel is definitely at the top notch for a 3 star hotel (and the price was on the lower end of 3... more
Fantastic fantastic fantastic
Trip Advisor member Lincoln England We stayed in this hotel during August 2005. Although listed as 3 star it deserves a higher rating. You have to look beyond the building as compared to other hotels it does need a revamp and the rooms are dated, but comfortable and exceptionally clean. We arrived late at night after a long flight and a slight delay at Bangkok. We greeted at the Beachcomber warmly and given a drink, check in was simple and before we knew we were taken to our room to find our luggage there. Several minutes... more
Excellent hotel, way above its star rating
We've just returned from Thailand where we spent the first six days at the 3 star Beachcomber Hotel on Chaweng Beach. We chose the hotel as it is in the noisier, busier part of the island so that we could have plenty to do to combat the jetlag. We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay. Not only is the hotel much quieter than expected (although you still have the bustle of the main drag in Chaweng at your doorstep) its motto is "Swiss Management with Thai hospitality" (or similar) and it lives up to this. Rooms are very comfortable... more
What great service
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday on Koh Samui. The Beachcomber is a small hotel extending onto the beach. The service was second to none and we were taken care of so very well. The food was very good with plenty of choice at breakfast and excellent evening meals cooked by their New Zealand chef. Again, plenty of choice of Thai or European food. Some of the rooms could have done with a bit of refurbishment but they were very clean and everything else made up for it. The Beach Boys were the best - they really looked after... more
