Pimalai Resort & Spa Hotel

I stayed at the Pimalai with my partner in December 05. The resort itself and in particular the beach was stunning. The room (we booked a one bed Beach Villa) was to a very high standard although the bathroom was a little dated. The staff were good, if not as personal as other 5* hotels in Thailand. I found the food to a high standard, although expensive; tip – there is a great Thai restaurant (forgot the name) on the same beach as The Pimalai where you can eat great Thai food for a fraction of the cost. We spent 14 days there over Christmas and New Year and had a wonderful time. Overall the hotel is high class but before you consider whether you would enjoy your stay there as opposed to other places you should note the following which are, in my mind, the Pimalai's good points and not so good points. We had a wonderfull 4 day break here. this hotel is very expensive for Thailand but this is as good a hotel as I have ever spent my own money to stay at. The airport to hotel transfer is done as well as it could possibly be, a great start. We arrived late and as the restaurants were going to close before we got to the hotel they phoned ahead and booked room service food for us. We have just spent 14 days at this resort and compared to other thai hotels we have stayed in were mildly disappointed. It does some things very well, the staff are all excellent and very friendly and the service is good without being obtrusive. The beach is superb and one of the restaurants is situated right on it. On the non buffet nights when it isn't too busy it is a wonderful setting. They have managed to build the resort without cutting down too much vegetation - there are trees everywhere. My wife and I spent 7 days there ... wonderfull hotel and location... the staff are awesome but we found some of the prices almost borderline criminal. On arrival I my wife and I sat by the beautifull pool and ordered 2 drinks and lunch... it came to almost 1700 baht... The next day we rented a motorcycle and drove down to 7-11 and bought some food and drinks theres. In the resort they charge 155 baht for a small Singha, at 7-11 its 40 baht for a large one... when we asked at the resorts information how to get outside the resort... more

everything was perfect there. the service was excellent. all staffs were friendly...they always gave you a smile. the room was beautiful. the pool was great. love everything there!!!

My wife and I just spent 6 days in a beach front one bedroom suite. On arrival our bed had been beautifully decorated with a heart made of flower petals... ;-) And a cold bottle of chamapagne was ready on the sofa table. Everything else about the resort (spa, service, food, employees, surroundings, design etc.) was more than fantastic. The only blemish we can think of regarding Pimalai is the rediculously high price level of the spa services, drinks and food. I just returned from staying 5 days at the Pimalai and have nothing but great things to say about the hotel. We were lucky, although it was rainy season it didn't rain once. The ride from the airport to the hotel is a bit long (2 hours) don't let it scare you away. It's a very nice ride through Krabi and the boat trip to Koh Lanta is very pleasant. It doesn't feel like 2 hours. We stayed in the jr. suite which i highly recommend. It more private than the regular rooms as it's almost a mini house. The rooms are quite large... more

We have just had a great stay at Pimalai, Krabi. It's a perfect retreat from the rat race. Our superior room (room no. 133) is very spacious and cosy. It's also equipped with a DVD player and you can also borrow DVDs from the hotel's library free of charge! It was also a courtesy of the hotel to welcome us with a platter of local fruits and (very nice) cookies. Even though we went during the rainy season where we only saw 3 days of sun out of 14, we had the most wonderful holiday. The superior room was much more than superior. We really felt totally cut off from all the outside world, protected and pampered. The food was the best. It was like having your own personal chef to cater for your every whim. If there was something that wasnt on the menu then nothing was too much effort for the staff to produce. The staff became more like family during our stay. We all cried when we left and are... more
