The hotel itself was nice, very traditional but the decoration, especially outside was looking a bit tired. The choice of meals was very limited and I ended up picking the lesser of the two evils.
The prebooked packed lunches were miserable and consisted of one dry roll with a bit of ham and an apple. No juice or water included. You have to book these lunches the night before and one night I forgot. At breakfast the following day I apologised for forgetting to order and could she organise something for later in the morning. She immediately started ranting at me. The last time I was spoken to like that I was in short trousers and in primary school. Maybe I should have retaliated but decided to air my grievances on this web site.
It is a shame that a nice hotel, in a prime spot is spoilt by someone who doesn't realise that she is there because of us.

Arrived here from Bali on 30th December. Didn't realise we had a Premier room but were given a Club City room on the 21st (top) floor so could see towards Raffles & Orchard Road. One of the benefits of this was that we had access to the Premier Lounge so could benefit from free champagne breakfast each day as well as afternoon tea and evening cocktails and canapés. We did take advantage of this each day but on 2nd Jan (4th day of going into this lounge), they then decided to question certain dress codes and deny me access due to not having on leather flip flops as others did. Nothing was mentioned prior to this visit and I was wearing the same shoes throughout the trip.
Don't mind a dress code being in place, but some consistency wouldn't go amiss, especially as there were other guests wearing flip flops in the lounge at the time. Had a great New Years Eve there, great food, free flowing drink and fantastic fireworks.
Shame about the change of rules just because the staff changed and this seemed to take some of the excitement out of our stay and due to this attitude, we wouldn't stay at this hotel again, which is sad as we have stayed at many Mandarin Orientals and this one did not quite meet to their usual standards. If you don't have this service, then you'll have no issues. Remember, the drinks from the mini bar are cheaper than room service!

Arrived to the friendliest welcome ever.
Due to us being newlyweds we were immediately upgraded to a suite, This was 2 rooms that were the biggest i have ever stayed in complete with a luxurious bathroom that you could have held a party in, settees, coffee table large wall to wall executive desk i could go on and on. To say the least it was absolute luxury. Singapore was fantastic we just loved all the people they were so freindly ..........................
Thank you Oriental for making it a great start too our honeymoon we will certainly be returning.
