Shangri La Rasa Sentosa Hotel

I will keep this brief having stayed there before our expectations were high. Our stay was January 2010 on route to Australia. Having made all the relevant bookings direct with the hotel you would think all would be in order. Well on arrival it was less than organised,I asked for conformation re late check out (6pm) which we had been promised on booking to be told the best they could do was 2pm. The hotel is in need of a make over, the staff are pleasant and appear to be industrious however leadership and direction appears to be non existant. On our second night it was our intention to have a romantic meal, with a sea view in Barnacles (a la carte restaurant belonging to the hotel) which we had booked several weeks earlier. We thought we would have a drink at the pool bar before we went into the restaurant. This closes at 8pm so no luck there. Upon arrival at Barnacles we were told there was no table reserved for us, however they sqeezed us in after standing around for 10 mins. The table wasnt set and after another 10 mins having sat there left twiddling our thumbs we left. I made my disappointment known to reception and then we went into the city for a very enjoyable evening on the courtesy bus which is great. The next day we were invited to have breakfast in the executive lounge which to be fair is standard at the other hotel we have visited on Clark Quay. A further invite from management was forthcoming to join them at the Sunday buffet at Barnacles which was OK cos it was free, hate to think I had been paying for it because it was overpriced. I did pay for a bottle of wine which was awful didnt complain because by now I was fed up nor did staff ask us why we leftrather abruptly. Would we go back, No! There are other hotels of a better standard. Its not about the price its about the quality of the hotel and service.
