" Booked as a 3 day stopover on return... "
Submitted By: Mrs A Hayward
Booked as a 3 day stopover on return from OZ & NZ, this was a wonderful hotel.
The room was quiet, well furnished with a superb bathroom with separate shower & bath. There were clean sheets & towels each day.
The meals were buffet style but the selection was huge with everything very high quality.
The pool, set in tropical surroundings, was spotless as were the stack of towels provided. We didn't use the refreshment service but it seemed very popular. The public areas were vast and comfortably furnished.
Singapore was hot & humid and teeming with people of all nationalities - a great experience.
We took the cable car to Sentosa Island which was fractionally cooler. We loved it and would be happy to go back which, since we are not usually City visitors, is a good recommendation.
Austravel only helped with our stopovers as we self booked everything else but they were still a big help with advice. They also arranged our visas at very reasonable cost. When we go to OZ & NZ again (planned 2009) we'll probably use these people again.

The service is awesome, the staff are lovely.
We had a little problem with ants - but i had spilt sugar whilst making coffee, within minutes of phone call they were up and it was sorted.
Saw a man have difficulty in swimming pool - the attendant took very good care of this elderly man and wouldnt leave him till he was sure he was ok.
The food is quite expensive in hotel, but you can go to the Rose Varandah and have afternoon tea, really a meal after 4pm.
Gardens are really nice to sit out in - the shop has everything you need even Mars Bars.
Tours - Night Safari, China Town, Sentosa is a wonderful place to visit - but i would give hte Bird Park a miss that was very dissapointing indeed.
Take the Dragon Boat out into the bay and islands - really lovely and the breeze will do you good.
Take a taxi down to lUCKY pLAZA AND GO INTO THE SHOPS thats a great mall for the normal person's pocket - the jade shop on first floor was great i got jade to bring home.
Tangs store has wondeful jewellry on lst or 2nd floor and you get discount if you show your room card for key! Got lovely pearls to bring home to best friend.
We have had 3 stays in Singpaore usually Traders, but its gone very Chinese and not suitable for us now - but Shangri la has won our hearts.
We will be back, even as it wil be from the UK, again and again and again.
