Arrived after a long flight and the only gripe being an £80 deposit payable at the check in desk with which we were not made aware of. Lovely room. Pool and Restaurant, staff superb but use the laundry opposite the hotel it’s far cheaper.
We ate our food locally mainly in the Net Cafe - great guys and not one icky tummy during the whole two weeks.
Look out in the hotel foyer for a taxi driver with a pony tail, he took us on tours and really made them fun and affordable.
Hope you all have a good time in Penang and I’ll be back this year.

We had stayed previously at the next door Casuarina Hotel which is now closed for renovation/rebuild. The Bayview was much larger but the hotel was excellent. The breakfast had an enormous choice of both Western and Asian food. The porridge was delicious. If breakfast is not included try the Happy Garden Chinese restaurant a short distance along the road. She does a fantastic British breakfast at an incredibly cheap price.
Free water was delivered to the room each day. The room was spotless with a large balcony, bathroom with 2 showers and a bath. The bed measured 8' across - the biggest I have ever seen. The room also contained a small fridge/mini bar and a TV showing BBC News and magazine programmes.
The hotel gardens were lovely and provided much needed shade in the heat of the day. The gardens bordered the beach but it was too hot for us to spend long on the sands. Outside contractors provided horse riding, paragliding and jetskies.
The tailor's shop within the hotel provides an excellent service and is no dearer than those found along the road.
Penang is the place to go if you don't mind a long air trip and just want to laze around and read.
