Mutiara Burau Bay Hotel

My family and I stayed at the 3 star Mutiara Burau Bay Resort for 11 nights from October 13th, 2007. Despite turning up with three teenage children and being allocated one Studio Cabana which is not big enough we were quickly reallocated 2 Superior Cabanas, both with sea views for just a little extra charge. The staff on duty at this time were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. This place was our last destination on our 8 days honey moon to Malaysia...we spent 2 nights at Mutiara Burau Bay and I wouldn’t hesitate to say that these 2 days were the best days of our honey moon...it has got lovely cozy cottages by the beach..and it is absolutely peaceful to hear the waves hit the shore in the night...this place makes you feel absolutely close to the nature..with monkey's and lizards (they aren’t so scary believe me...) on the lawn...you can actually go on and on clicking snaps of the scenery and the beach..it is... more

I have just returned from Langkawi last week. I am sorry to say that i will not be going back to mutiara burau bay again if i am going back to langkawi for a break. First the plus points: Friendly staffs i will strongly agree. The room is neat and tidy. Very near the beach. Sunbathing @ my doorstep. Room-service. Now for the minus points: Carpark is not brightly lighted up. Neither are the paths to cabanas. You can't see a single thing from inside your room when it is dark outside. I wrote a review of this resort with my first impressions after two days. Now we have returned home after spending nine days in total there. Much of what I said with my first impressions hold true. It is a quiet, well laid out resort with good gardens, pool and beach area. The staff were very friendly and cooperative with nothing being too much trouble. Our beach view family cabana was adequate in size for two adults and two children. They were cleaned daily. Everything was within a couple of minutes walk with very few steep gradients.<br... more

One week we will never forget for sure! Located in the pristine Burau bay, the Mutiara resort is the ultimate in beach resorts! It may not be a five star resort, but the superb location and helpful, friendly staff definitely make up for the star rating.Breakfast was plentiful and varied and the inhouse band provided fantastic entertainment nightly in the open air terrace; the giant guitar to the rear of the stage provided an excellent backdrop to to the musicians. I stayed here with family and really loved it! Many of the reviews here cover the basics, but I wanted to mention something about all the small touches around the hotel that make it really special and unlike the big-named hotels you can find elsewhere. Mutiara pays special attention to its natural surroundings and there are little signs everywhere bringing your attention to thinks like the little lizards racing across the main lawn, the parrots, the roosters (apparently chickens originated in Malaysia), as well as the plant life. I booked for this hotel online and stayed there for 5 days 4 nights. Honestly I was not very pleased with the reviews online and tired very hard to book into another hotel that was of at least 4 star rating. But you know what!! I am gald I went to Mutiara Bay. Hotel transfer can be arranged at the hotel and the check in is effortless. The welcome drink is rather nice and it is fresh juice not the cocktail type mixtures of sweet drinks that you get in other hotels. Hi, Visited the Mutiara In June, was there for 3 days. Was very skeptical while booking there mainly because i'm not really a wild life person, and that was probably the only highlight mentioned by fellow travelers for this resort on various sites. The place is beautiful. Dont go there expecting super luxury because its not, but its not bad at all. We have just returned from a second visit to the Mutiara Burau Bay resort in Langkawi after having the most amazing trip. The staff at the hotel were truly wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The island itself, is amazing and if you enjoy learning about traditions, culture and wildlife, it would be worth contacting the activities desk to take a trip out with Jimmy, Indera and Hirman. My family stayed for 2 days in April'07. Though located in a far corner of the island, ideal place for calm holiday with beautiful rooms looking over the sea beach. Not many eating joints nearby, though (nearest place is a decent KFC joint near the petrol pump - a good 10 minutes by taxi). Be prepared to spend for transport if you are keen to see around. Otherwise, the hotel staff are very friendly and nice. You can hear the birds sing while enjoying a cup of tea in the morning.
