Pan Pacific Hotel

Just stayed on and off for 11 days at this hotel , i had in the past found it very good value for money , but i am sorry to say it does not seem so good any more. Also noticed that there did not seem to be so many europeans staying there as before . The breakfast each day was terrible and very limited choice , in the past it was alot better, always seemed packed out and finding a suitable table hard , then getting the staff to actualy clear the table was very tiresome. I actually have a rather mixed view of this hotel. My first visit (December 2005) was all positive. My second experience was not quite as positive. My room's mini bar was empty. There was garbage on the floor behind the bin in the bathroom and the light in the bedroom cupboard wouldn't turn off. On the positive side, the staff were very prompt in fixing problems when I had called them about it. I stayed in the city centre Pan Pacific hotel for two nights in October. It provided good value for money and a good room. I had a large, comfortable room on the 'no smoking' floor. It contained a double and a single bed, sofa, coffee table, desk and separate wardrobe and large bathroom with separate shower and bath. The staff were helpful and always pleasant. I satyed in the Pan Pacific for two(seperate) nights with the family.It was a fairly typical city/Business orientated Hotel which is absolutely fine if you are only staying a couple of nights. Rooms were fine.Breakfast was good.There was a bit of a problem with getting the bags to the room it did seem to take an age. I know that some people have complained about its location but really this isn't a problem.There is a monorail station next door to the hotel which takes you in a couple of minutes to Chinatown etc.The system is very... more

My wife and I stayed here for one night in November before heading off to Pangkor Laut and one night on our return trip. We were quite surprised how run down the hotel was especially the furniture. It was also not centrally located. The shopping mall next to the hotel is not trendy at all as described in the travel books we read. The worse thing for us was the service. This was my 10th visit to the Pan Pacific KL and I was really looking forward to returning. In the past the hotel always provide an excellent standard of accommodation, meals and value for money. Upon arriving in my room I was very disappointed at what I found. The room was very run down and many of the amenities were not working (the hairdryer etc). We stayed at the Pan Pacific in 2003. It was a beautiful and clean hotel and our room was huge and beautifully clean. Although slightly out to the North of the city it was located directly opposite a huge mall - good for shopping and a minute's walk from the train station which provided excellent links to all the major attractions. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

For the price this hotel can't be beaten in KL. Officially rated 4 stars the hotel is a little old which takes a bit of the shine off the rating however it was neither neglected nor dirty. The staff were very helpful and friendly while the rooms were large and spacious. Location wise the property is a lit off the beaten track but taxis are cheap in KL and the hotel is only 100 metres from the train station. The hotel was minutes walk from the railway station which could quickly get you about the city, though taxis are cheap. The rooms were clean and spacious, the bathroom was fab, spacious clean and bright. The view from our room (Panoramic room) was exceptional, we looked out onto the Petronis Towers. First of all i must say i was very disappointed with the difference between Pan Pacific Singapore and KL. The front office staff are much better in Singapore as compared to KL, the room service staff was good. The pool was quite small and the location was such that anyone in the adjacent buliding cold see what was going on. Food was not too good either. One thing i found very strange was the lifts, they have 6 lifts, but even if there is a lift one floor above you it won't come down, instead a lift 20 storeys down comes up to service you!! I... more
