Escape Beach Resort (EBR) is located...
3 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr P Dennis

Escape Beach Resort (EBR) is located in one of the most beautiful locations in turkey. We came to this resort under the advice of Chapa Travel Ltd. On entry to the complex the view was breathtaking. But we found that things were not so good with the complex.
Chapa Travel rated EBR as four star when all other holiday companies rated it as three star. I think three star is the absolute maximum. We were on an all inclusive two week holiday And here are the following results from that.
Food
All meals were buffet and we found that there was always a good selection of salads but found the lunches and dinners were low budget as regards to meat portions and cuts and very monotonous however the puddings and sweets were really nice. After about four days we had to go out and have a steak and get away from salads. We had budget level meals that were finished at 9.00 pm but guests of the management were given waiter service meals after 9;00pm and fed for example a whole fish where we had a piece of fish about three inches long.
Drinks
In the two weeks there was no whisky or brandy but there was Vodka, gin, beer, wine and soft drinks, You have to pay for bottles of water even though you are all inclusive. There is a fridge in the rooms with drinks in it but you have to pay for any drinks you have out of there including water and soft drinks.
Entertainment
Turkish night once a week. There is one bar that seems to have a real shortage CDs that are played very loudly at times. It seems you are encouraged to go out at night so you don’t drink there.
Facilities
The Resort appears to be open to none residents who are allowed to use the complex facilities these have the use of sun beds, pool etc, this made the pool area very busy and noisy, not what we expected from a holiday sold as a quite break. You are lead to believe that the beach is private but it is in fact a public one.
Cleanliness Room
Sheets were only changed once in the two weeks, The fridge smelled and had mould in it. A large amount of ants were in the bathroom we had to get a spray to kill them. Apart from that a cleaner came in most days.
Cleanliness Resort
At least five dogs were allowed to roam around the complex including a Rottweiler. We found Dog poo on the grass were kids played and outside our room on the path. I had flea bites on my legs from the grass, I know it was fleas because I am allergic to them but not mosquito bites. The kiddies play area was overgrown and unusable. There was a strong smell of sewage near the rear entrance of the dining aria. Apart from that most other aria’s were kept fairly clean.
Staff
We found the working staff were very hard working, polite, friendly and had a strong urge to learn the English language. Not so with the senior staff or owners.
General
This complex made a mockery of the all inclusive facility and could be a real good Resort with a little more effort from the owners. We love Turkey and Torba Bay but will not be using this complex again. Our rep was Eline who worked for Noya Tour She was really nice, helpful and was one of the best reps we have come across. We were also fortunate enough to make friends with another couple of wickedly great English people at EBR, The resort catered for so many nationalities we found communication was an ever increasing problem. (“I know, I should learn another language”).

We went here on a very last minute...
8 / 10
Jul 2006, Mr S Carpenter

We went here on a very last minute deal and couldn't complain. The staff were very friendly and really looked after us, as its name suggests there is a small beach within the hotel grounds, yards from the rooms.
The drinks were fine, food was ok not too much choice but definitely edible. Once a week they cook locally caught fish which is free, all they ask is you buy a bottle of wine to accompany it which is at the most £10 and very nice too.
There wasn't much entertainment but we did go off season and the rep was saying it would be being introduced more in the near future. Due to the lack of entertainment I would say it's ideal for couples of all ages and although children would enjoy beach/pool on the door step there isn't much else for them to do.
There is a small play area but it is small. Bodrum itself can be reached by taking the dolmus which are frequent and pick you up from outside the hotel door for only 1 lira! As it was off season the dolmus couldn't take you back but if you go peak season they run all night. Taxis weren't expensive though.
Rooms were very clean, regular maid service and are air conditioned with safety deposit box and minibar (both at a charge). All in all a great holiday, first time to Turkey, made some great friends at the hotel and at the bars in Bodrum too. I highly recommend First Stop bar in Bodrum on the bar strip for food and drink. The owner is called Chic tell him Geordie Steve sent you and he'll take good care of you.
I had never fancied Turkey before due to the reputation of the Turks but I've been to Greece, Spain, Portugal and France and never met such warm, friendly people and great hospitality. Enjoy your holiday.

The hotel is in a stunning position,...
4 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs J Heaps

The hotel is in a stunning position, the rooms are basic and dated but adequate, food is repetitive and uninspiring but edible, the staff are magnificent they really work hard, as did our Chapa rep. unfortunately this hotel has a few problems not least of which is the overall standard of hygiene, not really good enough for a 4 star, linen not changed enough, tablecloths in dinning room really grubby, poolside shower and loo very dirty. Another area for concern was non residents who are allowed to use the hotel facilities these are guests of other hotels, also anyone who buys a drink in the poolside bar can have the use of sun beds, pool etc, this made the pool area very busy and noisy, not what you expect from a holiday sold as a quite escape.
The poolside bar was lively during the day ,but in the evening the resident DJ really got carried away playing inappropriate music at ridiculously loud levels, soon all guests would vacate leaving a empty bar with mainly staff management and there families enjoying the music, again not suitable for a quite get away from it all holiday, this was complained about by many guest of all nationalities, still nothing done, it made us wonder was this a ploy to keep all inclusive guest away from the bar, if so it worked couldn’t have a conversation or even be heard to order a drink.
There were other problems such as seemingly no health and safety measures anywhere to be seen, dogs (including a rottwieller) roaming around many children were afraid and the kiddies play area was a disgrace’s we have visited Turkey many times and have stayed in 2 star with higher standards, this is no where near 4 star.
After saying all this if you have booked to go do as we did make the best of the beautiful surroundings, enjoy the sea and the sun, and you may like us be lucky enough to make new friends and have the laugh of a lifetime. PS that’s if anyone else speaks English.
