The Kervan is one of Side's older hotels with approx 50 rooms. That said we found staff and guests more friendly than those of larger, better rated hotels. The building is 4 story, the reception and entrance/exit to road level is on level 3. THERE ARE NO LIFTS .. so... more

Good Points: Excellent location 15 mins old town, 5 mins local beach. Free shuttle service to Dolphin beach (other side of town) with free sun loungers. Spotlessly clean hotel, pool area very good. Staff very friendly (especially to kids). Food fair to good. Popular with... more

Clean hotel, helpful, friendly staff. Not much in the way of entertainment but enough going off in close proximity. Large pool with children's section, again, very clean. Breakfast is wonderful with a variety of choices. Also a poolside bar with extensive menu. Reasonably... more

good hotel
we,ve just got back from the kervan hotel at the start off the hol everything was going fine until a pair of germans complained about my twin boys splashing to much in the pool which i can say no one else was in the pool at the time the owner told the boys not to splash, dive or have any fun in the pool it was for guests to swim up and down in only.what a joke. the pool is very small and the pictures on the net make it look much bigger than it is.i found that they dont like to cater for children just the older traveller, would i go back to the the kervan NO.the beaches were brillant if you want to sit next to hundreds of germans, but if you walk a little bit theres a bit of beach with just locals on and we sat there where the boys made friends with some local kids. the main grumble i have is with thomas cook check in at gatwick told 2hr delay not a problem then they put us on the plane and we sat there for a futher 3hrs nothing was offered to us at all i would reconmend flying with someone else not thomas cook
Great Turkish Bath
Have just returned from my first visit Turkey. Stayed at Kervan Hotel for one week and had a wonderful time. The hotel is very clean and the staff so friendly. They can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Stayed half board and the food was excellent, much choice and very well prepared and presented. The turkish bath at the hotel, which has only just opened, is a wonderful experience and well worth a try. The hotel has no lift which was no problem to us, but may be for anyone who has difficulty with stairs. Will definately return in future.
The Kervan...
After using this site for a while, I finally thought I should write a review of somewhere I have been... My and my girlfriend spent a week at the Kervan, Side, for a week in August and were very pleased with what we found. The hotel overall is clean, in a decent location, had a nice pool, balcony, and everything one could ask for at this price we paid (which wasnt much. The location was fantastic, a twenty minute walk will take you into the centre of Side where it becomes very busy; a five minute walk in the other direction takes you to the main beach which was also very nice. In our transport from the airport we went through most parts of Side, and there were a couple of parts that didnt look nearly as nice as where we were staying. A couple of minor points would be the fact that they charge quite a lot for air conditioning in your room. We were there at the end of August/start of September when the temperature wasnt quite as high as summer time so didnt bother. Even so it was quite cheap i thought. Also the food was pretty poor- we ate in the hotel once at didnt again. On the up side, there is a fantastic restaurant next door and lots more on the beach front. Prices for food were generally excellent. These points aside, as i say for the money it was a very good hotel, and more than we were expecting. It comes very much recommended
The wonderful Kervan hotel
Cannot rate this hotel highly enough, the staff, accomodation and food were all excellent, the rooms were very well equipped with satelite TV,fridge, hair dryer, air conditiining, beautifully decorated and a lovely sea view. The staff were very friendly and helpfull and nothing was too much trouble for them, all areas were very clean and the maid service excellent. The free bus to the beach was excellent and once you got there the sun beds and parasols were free, the beach bar was excellent and reasonably priced. All in all an excellent holiday,i cannot wait to go back to the Kervan next year.10 out of 10
Loved It!
I stayed at the Kervan for 2 weeks in June this year. First time at this hotel, although 3rd visit to Side. The hotel was very quiet but the staff were excellent. The Manager was very helpful and used to dine with the guests in the evening and made a point of coming to every table to ensure we were enjoying our holiday. The food on the first week was a bit disappointing but this was because there were only 10 guests at the hotel. But the 2nd week was a vast improvement, with both hot and cold buffet. if you wanted wine with your meal, you could order a bottle and the staff would take the unused bottle away and store it for you until the next meal, which was great.. A small family hotel with lots of space around the pool area, no fighting for sunbeds or queues for food. The rooms were slightly on the small side but we could have moved to a larger room if we had wanted. No lift and plenty of stairs to battle to the restuarant if you stayed on the upper levels. But apart from that I would recommend this hotel, and will definitaly be returning next year!
Enjoyed the Kervan
My husband and I had an enjoyable stay at the Kervan for two weeks in May 2007. The Hotel was in a good position close to the beach and Side itself. All the Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and in particular the General Manager Bay Kamuran Elbay. The rooms were clean and a good continental breakfast was served with the addition of cereals and toast. The evening meal was adequate. We would recommend the Kervan and hope to return again next year.
lovly holiday
We spent a week at the kervan hotel and absolutely loved it. The hotel staff were so nice and friendly. the place was so nice. The pool area was nice and the pool bar was very handy. The food was lovely every day, The hotel staff go out of their way to ensure you are being seen to and are happy. The beach is literally 2 mins from the hotel. We went into Antalya for a day and found that a waste of time and money cos you can get the same stuff in the local area and at a much cheaper price. Overall it was a great holiday and I loved the hotel. I was really sad when we were leaving and would love to go back there.Special thanks to Mustafa yuksel kamuran ramazan who was so nice and helpful
Hated the Kervin
When I stayed at the Kervin it was the end of the season. The hotel was only half occupied, mostly Germans and I was the only Brit. The room was clean and tidy although the shower did not work well. The water is heated by solar power and the temperature could not be controlled. It was either freezing or boiling, no happy medium. The accomodation was half board, however, the breakfast was basic. The first three days there was a choice of cerial or ham, cheese and rolls. There was also toast and coffee available. After the third day the cerial was not available. The evening meals were mostly salad with an occasional cooked meal of curried battered fish and croquet potatoes for example. I mostly ate out.......even though I'd paid for half board....it was that bad. When praising the hotel the staff could speak very good english, when complaining the staff could not understand.... funny that. I realise it was the end of the season but the hotels one and only bar was hardly ever open. Oh and anything you purchase within the hotel has to be made using the hotel debit card which you top up with cash. They get paid for drinks etc before you get any service. At times the attitude of the hotel staff was like "Fawlty Towers". If you have any sence don't stay here if you're the wrong side of the Rheine.
Load of rubbish
We thought the hotel room was dirty. The swimming pool was too deep for teenage children. The food was poor. The hotel management had an attitude problem. The tiles in the shower had black mildue growing on them. The hotel room had a hole in the wall where eletric wires could be seen. The cost of the air conditioning was astronomical at approx £8:40 per day.
Enjoyed the Kervan and Side!
I found the hotel to be good value for money. It was very clean, friendly staff, although English not known proficiently, did not interfer with the enjoyment of the holiday. There was no majority of one nationality, English, Dutch, Russian and German guests. The location was ideal for my family has it was not in a noisey area, but at the same time not far from all amentities that Side has to offer. The food purchased at the pool bar was of a decent standard but at times could take some time for its preparation. Ali's restaurant across the road was excellent value and very good service. Trips purchased in the hotel were expensive and there is an abundance of travel agents offering the same trips at half the price. We purchased our trips from Toni, to be found down the hill by baba boat travel. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and all our trips went smoothly and without any problems whatsoever. I would recommend this hotel for families, couples or singles and you can take from the resort what type of holiday you require, both quiet or a very lively, active holiday.
