I have just returned from my family holiday at the Rubicon.
It was without a doubt the best holiday I have been on... With non-stop entertainment you'll never get bored, "the blue team" is the hotels entertainment team and the loveliest people i've ever met... They never fail to crack a smile and have so much energy.
There are 5 big pools that I could find and a few small ones and a childrens pool area with two little slides on...
The main pool is not used much as its salty water and very cold, the other two big pools are fine.
There is constantly food available, and I had no problem with the food, as there was a varitey for everyone.
The night time entertainment was very good. With at least one show a night sometimes even two. The shows produced by the hotel staff was my favourite... after the shows there is music on until 1am which is usually for the teenagers and my teens loved it!
The rooms where spotless. We upgraded to privilige which I highly recomend, and recived bath tobes and slippers which actually came in handy!
The main beach is a 5 minute taxi ride into Playa Blanca costing 4 euros max and then a short walk to the beach.
Overall I had a amazing holiday and would highly recomend the hotel and happily go again!

We stayed 10 days at Rubichon Palace and the first impression was good, nice foyer with a great view to the ocean, great pool and garden. The person at the front desk was very helpful and gave us a warm welcome. Our room was very spacious but the furniture was poor in spite of the huge beds, only one chair and one armchair, no glasses or cups, no possibility for preparing a coffee or tea, the balcony offered a poor view to the parking lot. One light bulb beside the bed was broken, explaining that to the room service brought no new bulb. Even as we went to the front desk we had no success in getting a new bulb until the end of our stay and we were sure they got the problem. Using the safe costs 17 Euro a week!
In the restaurants we had breakfast and dinner. The choice was good and the quality as well. In my opinion there were too many tables for the space, made me feeling squeezed sometimes. The waiters were mostly friendly but not as engaged as I expected. The glasses were not clean and far away from shining. Even if we ordered a good wine we didn't get other glasses except the last evening. Maybe other guest were compling as well. Another problem were the cats which sit at the outdoor space of the restaurants waiting for food. From the cats point of view very understandable and I love cats. The hotel management had hang up markers that the guests should not feed the cats but who can resist? I think the responsibility of the management is to care for the animals and even more to care for sterilization of the cats so that they are no longer able to produce more kitten all the time which want to be fed. Animal protection organization often help to manage such an intent as I saw in similar hotels on Fuerteventura.
One evening we were invited to switch the dinner from the buffet restaurant to the pool restaurant for dinner. We loved the food and the service was great, thanks for that, it was a great experience.
As mentioned before the pool area was nice and everybody could find his place but it was squeezy as well.
We mostly went with our rental car to Papagayo beaches which we can be recommend.
All in all we made the best of it but next time I would look for another hotel.

Check-in - Nice and easy.If you want to use the safe in your room then ask while you are there as this saves time having to come back later.
Rooms - Largest we have stayed in and very clean. Air con works well. We did have a few mosquitos get in while doors were open. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room so bring your travel kettle if you like a hot drink when you wake up
Bars - the most used one was the one by the pool. You can help yourself to soft drinks and lager. Bar staff are friendly. Us Brits will queue happily until we get served while our European neighbours will just push in !
There is a 'Beefeater Pub' which was showing the World cup while we were there. Not got much of an atmosphere but it was Ok for a bevvy or two.
Food - Nice variety. Something for everyone. However I do wish parents would look after their kids in the dining room and not let them run around causing havoc while paople are trying to get their food.
Pools - Didn't go in as it was too cold for me but looked clean. Theres a small shallow pool for little kids and they seemed to like it.
Beach - There isn't one ! This is pointed out at the welcome meeting by the 'holiday advisor' ( new name for rep)so I think there have been a few complaints from people who have been sold a 'beach holiday'.
Outside of hotel.- Bit of a walk to the nearest bar. It takes about 40 minutes although you can get a bus from outside the hotel.
All in all a nice hotel. if you are not bothered by the non-existant beach then you will like it

This has got to be one of the best holidays we've ever had. We arrived back in the early hours of this morning feeling relaxed and certainly well fed. The variety of the food was incredible and should we have wished we could have eaten all through the day as the pool bar is open til 7 pm. Normally I like to sit by the pool and read my books but the entertainment staff are so energetic and such fun that we found ourselves joining in most of the games so the time we spent there was not at all boring. Where they found so much enthusiasm from beats me. They not only worked tirelessly throughout the day but into the night as well. Our only disappointment was the view from our balcony but as the nights turned chilly we weren't too bothered and as we booked only 2 weeks before going we had nothing to complain about. One downside which is probably a minor point is that the bathroom and beach towels were a little worn. We were able to make good use of our last day as the courtesy shower room was easy to book at the time you wanted. We would certainly use H10 hotels again and are even considering going back to the Rubicon Palace in the future.

After reading some poor reviews on here about the Rubicon Palace, i was feeling apprehensive about my holiday at this hotel. I had no reason to worry, it was fantastic. The hotel was spotlessly clean, i could not fault the hotel in any way. The food was lovely, and the choice available surpassed my expectations. It was beautifully presented and plentiful. The staff in all areas of the hotel were helpful, polite and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant staff worked extremely hard to deliver the impecable service they provided, and were always smiling and pleasant. The pools were clean with plenty of sun beds around for everyone. My only disappointment was the evening entertainment which was not to my taste, but lots of people were enjoying it, and there was also the piano lounge to enjoy a quiet drink and to listen to a pianist.
The hotel is about 35 minutes stroll away from Playa Blanca. It is a lovely walk along the sea front. If you dont fancy the walk there is a bus from outside the hotel which runs every half hour and costs approx £1.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Rubicon Palace. On arrival to the hotel we were upgraded to the Sea view rooms, which were very nice and clean, the rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels which was also nice.
Pools were great, although the largest main pool is salt water, there is also a heated pool which we tended to use the most. Entertainment was a mixture of animator and professional shows which doeant start until 10pm, some a little late for my 3 year old.
Waiting staff were nice, although when ordering drinks for a party of seven my dad got told he drank too much which I thought a little rude. When ordering drinks they will give you the livers busters unless you ask for the branded drinks, such as Gordens, Bacardi, Baily's. Some of the branded drinks such as Jack Daniels and some cocktails were for only Privelege customers, to upgrage to privilage it will cost 13 euros per person per daym but this does give you access to the spa, Italian restaurant on site, made to order meals and much more.
The only bad thing i will say about this hotels is the Food, tops marks for selection, although on more than a few occasions, we found raw pork, fish and burgers from the kids selection. It was an all round good holiday, although I would not visit the hotel again.

We stayed at the Rubicon Palace for one week from 25th March to 1st April 2010. We are a married couple in our early 60s (although I can't believe we really are that old). We had read the reviews before booking and found them very useful. We had a great time. Everything very good, the staff, the food, the drinks, the cleanliness. We would go again, we had a splendid time.

Travelled to this hotel on Sunday 28th June 2009 and stayed till the 12th July 2009.
My wife and I travelled with our 18 and 16 year old daughters.
I had read some of the reviews that were less than complimentary, all I can say is they must have gone to the wrong hotel.
We arrived at 9.15 at night and as we were one of two families the booking in was quick and efficient. We had time to put our cases in our rooms (we were on the next floor up from the reception) go for dinner and sit in the piano bar and have a drink.
The reception and the surrounding piano bar area was very nice with some large comfortable settee’s and armchairs to sit in.
We had a sea view room which was large although the décor was a little tired, they were cleaned every day and had a TV and to be honest when you are on holiday you just need a place to sleep so they were more than adequate.
The grounds were impeccably tended and looked very nice, the set up was like a small village with little courtyards dotted about the place and with rooms in two and three storey blocks.
The pool area we used was next to the pool bar, this was where the daily entertainment was held and always seemed to be popular and well supported.
The main pool was very large although not used that much. It isn’t heated but on the incredibly hot days we had it was more than welcome. However it is far too salty and irritated if got into your eyes, it could be that I may have been over sensitive to it.
All the areas were kept tidy although some tiles etc are missing and could need sprucing up, but I suppose with the hotel open all year that would prove an undertaking, but to be honest that is only a small gripe
There are plenty of sunbeds but despite notices they were reserved and seemed to be reserved very early in the morning if not the night before.
The food is without doubt the best we have ever had on any holiday. If you do not find something that you like then you must be really fussy.
We always found it hot fresh and tasty, it was great to have a choice of three different meats if you wanted a good roast dinner.
The staff work incredibly hard and were always polite, this was throughout the hotel, be it catering, gardening, maintenance and cleaners.
The entertainment staff gave it their all and their enthusiasm was infectious even if at times they were not that good, but they tried and were really really nice people.
Watch out for ABBA Magic they were brill.
The guest were about 80% Spanish, I was somewhat surprised at how rude some of them could be especially to the staff.
They do not queue, and if you show some manners like holding a lift or a door you very rarely got a gracias or thank you.
I have read some reviews that said the staff favour the Spanish when it comes to serving them, this is not true, it is because the staff are rushed off their feet and anyone would struggle to keep tabs on who arrived first. The truth is they needed more staff at peak times coupled with the fact that the Spanish will push in.
That being said overall we had a fantastic time.
Recommend the catamaran and timanfaya trips.
We did the catamaran trip on my 50th birthday and they made it really special and something to remember

The only moan was the entertainment room was stifling(problem with air con) and service was slow 2 bar staff only lot of people to serve, we went to the piano bar to get drinks as there was more staff. This hotel is absolutely fantastic. I went in the first week of May with my 2 kids. It was great. Very quiet out of season and no problem whatsover with being served. The food was fantastic - a great choice every single day. THe choice of drinks included in the "AI" menu was more than sufficient.
Being a single parent on my own with 2 kids I was a litte apprehensive about coming abroad on my own but I felt totally safe and relaxed here.
Our room was on the ground floor, we stepped out of our patio doors onto our little terrace and were ten steps away from one of the pools. Because it was very quiet this pool was practically our very own. Turned to look right and there was a view of the sea, and Fuetaventura. The grounds and rooms were kept immaculate and all the staff always said "hola" as they passed you.
Yes it is a little out of the way of the main resort but for 1.15 euro you could get a bus to the centre. (A taxi back cost around 3.50 euro depending where in town it picked you up from. Alternatively a half an hour to forty minute coastal walk would get you there.
It may well be different whn it is busier in high season but I am keen to find out and have just booked again for a week in August.

We arrived at the Rubicon Palace around 10pm at night and from the bus it looked very impressive. Walking in through the doors the reception is to your right hand side. We were checked in very quickly and efficiently and our upgrade to All Inclusive was very smooth. Within around 10 minutes we were walked to our room with a staff member who was very informative about when the pool bar opened and closed. There is a safe in the room which costs 30€ for 2 weeks with a 6€ deposit. Towels can also be hired for 10€ and cost 50 cents to change them.
Walking in to our room we were more than happy with the 2 double beds and chair bed. My in-laws room had a king-size bed and a fold away bed. Although we should have had a garden view and some people would have complained we had a very nice view of the sea and the walk to the beach and could see the playa flamingo beach from our rooms too. The rooms were bright and looked fresh and were very clean and the maids did a good job every day. There are fridges in the rooms which can be hired for 3€ a day or you order 6 drinks from the mini bar instead.
We headed to the pool bar for something to eat and we weren't too impressed by the sight of hot dogs and hamburgers and chips. But we found toasties and a toastie machine and got some water. The deputy manager stopped to speak to us and welcomed us and explained how the pool bar at 10.30 had more hot dishes etc.
We set about exploring the next morning. There are 2 restaurants to eat in. Having tried both, the one on the side next to the toilets and to the steps seems to have less choice and wasn't that great. We mostly ate in the other restaurant where we found much more choice and happier staff. I know a lot of people have complained about the food and people did complain in the airport queue but I thought I had fussy children but having spoken to others it appears mine aren't so fussy when it comes to food. There is always soup, chips, pasta with a wide range of choices for fish. chicken, pork. They do have a wide selection of fruit at all meals but Puddings aren't spectacular. For breakfast made to order omelettes are available and the pancakes were lovely. My only complaint was the kids buffet, the tongs got very hot and on 2 occasions I burnt myself painfully. But otherwise the food was pretty good.
There are plenty of pools and the first week we had no problems at any time getting beds but just towards the end of the holiday our nice quiet pool seemed to be full of people. You could always get a sunbed but not necessarily in the shade or with a parasol. But the pools were regularly cleaned and yes they were cold but get yourself under and it could be a lovely refreshing swim. All around the hotel you constantly found cleaning staff or maintanence staff. In fact one night we had a power cut until 1am. Thank goodness for mobile phones and nintendo ds's to get round the hotel.
We didn't discover the spa until the end of the holiday but some lovely treatments were to be had. The actual spa cost 15€ to go in and had a range of things to relax you as a Turkish bath steam room, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Pebble Walk and relaxation rooms. The idea's are fantastic but sadly the pool had some missing tiles and I feel a refurbishment for new tiles and a lick of paint wouldn't go astray. They have a kids hour for 5€ per person. Beware though some parents deliberately send their child in with you making it look like you have 2 children with you when really you only have one because the child wants to go in but not the parents. We had that situation and it was only because I queried why we had 4 towels and I hadn't got 5€ change.
My only complaint about the hotel is that the Spanish really have it in for Brits and can be down right rude and there were a few fights in the taxi queues between the Spanish who felt it was their right to walk into a taxi that the brits had ordered. Standing in the bus queue for a while was very interesting viewing in the taxi queue. We found all the staff to be fine and we made an effort to speak Spanish and got served with ease as well as smiles. So learn how to order your drinks in Spanish and all will be ok there. Oh another small moan is the sprinklers. They stink of poo and my hubbie ended up walking through one to which my son called them the stinklers. So bewarew of the stinklers.
The entertainment team always made a good effort. They regularly spoke to our children outwith the clubs and the entertainment and the shows may have been "that anyone can sing along to a tape!" but take a moment to look at all the choreography that Erika and her team put in and they really work hard for the 12 hours they provide entertainment. They don't force you to join in, but they make things fun.
Nearly every night there are stalls of some sort in the foyer next to the restaurants. Saturday/Wednesday is market nights and mostly jewellery stalls the rest of the week.
We really enjoyed our 2 weeks. The first night I wasn't sure but there is so much to do round about the hotel as well as kids clubs (we rarely used as they weren't run the way I'd want them to be run but that's a professional thing with me), the golf, tennis courts and play park. It's a short walk to the rock pools as well as about 40 minutes to an hour into playa Blanca. The most we every paid for a taxi was 4€.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and believe a holiday is what you make it and it was a really good holiday which all 6 of us enjoyed.

Having just come back from this hotel after 14 days as a Privilege guests my husband and I were disappointed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the property, the a la carte restaurants level of food was far from a la carte, the 2 buffet restaurants were akin to a canteen, lighting was too bright and the ambience was too noisy, people rushing round like food was going to vanish if they didnt grad it quick and there was no minimum dress code for a 4 star hotel. I had a trip to the Thalasso spa and actually found a plaster which someone had fished out of one of the pools just left on the side, that worried me as to what I may catch if I lingered too long. The main pool had lots of tiles missing all over it which you could cut your feet on. For a **** star property it lacked a lot of minimum standards you would expect. The buffet food was very repetitive as was the A la carte.
