If you are looking for very basic accomodation then this is the hotel for you. The hotel was made up of two blocks with two small swimming pools, a small pool bar complete with its own resident stray cat which slept on the bar itself. We were bed and breakfast but chose... more

mmmm interesting
We booked our holiday through lastminute(-)/jewel of the crown. We arrived at Seler hotel very early in the morning 2:30. The temperature in Marmaris was very high - 30Centigrade. Coming from UK, this was very overwhelming. We found that we had to pay for air conditioning £25 per week and the hours that this was provided was midday - 7pm & midnight - 8am. Out of the 7 days we were there we had to remind the employees THREE times to put the air conditioning on. This was really appalling service. I don't think you can legally keep animals in conditions as hot as that!! The maid cleaned our room every day but the facilities within the room was alot to be desired. The hotel requested that the guests do not bring in any food and drink from other outlets but their drink and food prices were so extortionate that there was not much choice. The breakfast was a traditional Turkish breakfast i.e. tomato, cucumber, cheese, watermelon, jam, honey, bread and a boiled egg every other day. The boiled egg did not come every other day though. The cutlery and crockery was dirty and the food was not of a good standard, thus we did not have dinner at the hotel. The hotel tends to have late night parties with loud music, this was not too disruptive as the music is turned off at midnight. If you are looking for a quiet holiday then Marmaris in general is not the place for you. We had a great holiday but would not ever go back to Seler Hotel. Our rep Sanjay was fantastic and welcoming. Turkey was great.
Not worth the money - or any money!
My first impressions of the Seler Hotel was Fawlty Towers, it looks as ramshackled on the outside as it is on the inside. Was greeted by an empty front desk (the way it remained for the rest of our stay there) and when someone finally appeared all I got was "Passport" after taking details from it he handed it back with a room key, a porter only varried one of our bags up to the 5th floor, leaviung me to struggle with the heaviest one, and he lingered around our room presumably waiting for a tip. Yes, the rooms are small and very very basic, although not dirty they do not exactly have a clean feel. The noise on a night is unreal, music all hours, I know you expect this in Turkey but majority of hotels turn it down to a respectable level after midnight - not the Seler! So theres the loud music, people literally screaming along to it, the arguments outside, the dogs fighting, then a rooster crows to announce the morning and you can count how many hours sleep you haven't had! We paid for bed and breakfast but nobody told us where or when breakfast was served, we ventured downstairs but again the desk was unattended and we could find nowhere that even looked like breakfast was being served! We spoke to our rep that morning and they agredd to transfer us to the Ozturk Apartments - do not want to go off topic so to find out about Ozturk read my review In closing I would not recommedn the Seler to anyone, I know you get what you pay for but I wouldn't pay anything to stay there
pay for what you get
we have just come back from the seler apartments on saturday the 15th july .we booked as a last minute deal through jewel in the crown. for which i could not pick fault with. anyway we arrived at the seler at 4 30 in the morning and our baggage was taken to the room where we were to stay it was very small just two single beds a wardrobe and that was it.The staff are very friendly and the pool bar is open all night long,as far as noise goes there was more noise from the apartments next to the seler, we found it to be hard work to you have to pay for every thing not having a small fridge to keep drinks cool is really hard as you are not allowed to bring drinks in the rooms from outside the apartments so you need to drink alot over there.this is not a place for people with very young children .like i said you get what you pay for its very basic clean friendly staff who always want you to eat there the meals are nice but you can eat out cheaper and get more for your money. if you do book to go there through jewel in the crown i hope you get to meet sanjay and sidney two of the best reps we have ever meet they made our stay there
Good for starters
We arrived on 25/7/06 were greeted by a member of staff who helped us up to room 103 with our baggage. Slightly shocked at the size of the room but what do you expect from a 2 star hotel. Next day had our rep meeting and got to know the staff very qucikly Jason, Murat, Tuguy. Room was cleaned out every day never had any problems. Stasff catered to our every need and were brillant with all kids who stayed there. It a very relaxed hotel and unfortunately they dont go out there way to entertain you at night (that was was the only let down about the hotel). Few teething problems with the air con but rep sorted that out. Pool area was cleaned every day, meals at the hotel were very nice. Would recommend this hotel to someone trying out a budget holiday in Marmaris for the first time.
hotel from hell
when i arrived at the seler it was about 6.00 we had our suite cases took to our room there was three of us and were put in a two bedroomed arpartment .By the morning me and my boyfriend were fuming as they said they were not moving us we were getting a sofa bed put in ,well i dont no how they were going to fit a sofa bed in when the room was the of a box so we complained and nagged until they moved us .aventully we did get moved to a differnt room with three beds.we did not get a rep meeting and no friendship meeting with the staff.they were very ignorant at the bar as we walked in and out they stared and pattered each others shoulders and pointed as if we were stray dogs it was very uncomfortable.the dogs barked a couple of nights but not that much the done my head in it was open all hours and didnt shut. The clearners were very kind and friendly, BUT were tret like SLAVES off the other staff i felt very sorry for them every time i seen them they worn out and tired.we hated our stay.advise NEVER stay at the seler it is discusting,or maybe the sell go to itler apart over the road.
poor standard
Very disappointing, not at all like computer pictures Bathroom left a lot to be desired hygiene standard poor Lacking in space for shared apartments So disappointed we ended up paying £15 a night to rent other accomodation overall will not be reccomending hotel to anyone ,definately wont be rushing back!
never again
we have just returned from two weeks in the most noisy hotel i have ever stayed in. dont get me wrong the hotel was clean well maintained, and the staff were very friendly, though sometimes too much as i was with my husband and they knew that. Tush, the bar manager was a lovely lady and probably the only reason why we sometimes stayed around the pool/bar. The 24 hour bar was the main problem, the people of a range of ages who obviously cant keep up with the pace in the main resort clubs and pubs and the mums and dads of the kids who were to tired to go out too late, all decided, each night, to get as drunk as they could, make as much noise as they could then all decided to box with each other, something which the hotel staff did not seem to mind. i am only 29 myself, but everyone needs some sleep and the nightly action made this impossible, due to the noise in the bar and the constant slamming of doors which resonates around the small hotel. Me and my husband have been on a few 18 - 30 holidays and the noise level was worse than those hotels. a number of people had complained and some actually asked to leave, but nothing could be done to help them out hence very upset families. We were hassled most nights to eat in the hotel restaurant, which we did do once and it was very nice, but you cant do the same thing each night and it was a struggle trying to get them to understand this. the snax around the pool bar were good value for money and very nice. the hotel itself was very clean and the poor lady and her husband who worked at least 16 hours a day, with new baby in tow deserve a medal. We did have a very good holiday and you could say we got what we paid for at the hotel, though i certainly would not recommend this hotel if you value a good nights sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry i forgot to mention the fact that a house is being built over looking the pool and the rear of the main hotels balconies, which at times was noisy, but it was the constant perving by the work men of an evening whilst you were trying to get ready that was off putting, they work and live on the site.....
noise
hotel was ok, clean, staff friendly, for 8 days we couldnt get a sunbed, 57 rooms (i think) some of them family rooms, the rest double and only 34 sunbeds around the 2 small pools, the beds in our room were like bricks, we asked for them to be changed and it was done straight away. jason the waiter drove us nuts but apart from him everyone was really nice. the jewel in the crown rep, daniel was brilliant. the only problem we really found here was that it has a 24 hour bar and a lot of the rooms are located by the bar, too much noise, everyone we spoke to complained about people shouting and slamming doors all night. ive been to marmaris 6 times and dont think i would return to the seler. want to know anything else, email me at maxinemaple@aol.com
loved the friendly staff
Great staff and good facilities, not so close to bar street but close to beach were probably where better bars are
excellent accomodation hope to come back september 2005
having booked very last min with jewel in the crown we were very happy with hotel seler and its location ideal for seeing my boyfriend who lives and works just 400 metres away cant wait to come back in september
