The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
I don't know how could someone give a five star review to this place. The Good: the location is by far the best in the city. The facilities could be good if it were properly upgraded and maintain. The Bad: the hotel bills itself as a 5 star resort that regularly accomodates royalty - see their web site at: [---] This is not the Ritz or the Four Seasons, although they certainly charge like if it were one by turkish standards. Pool is not heated in case this is relevant to you. Birds walking all around,... more
Wonderful experience
What a great hotel in a wonderful location. The open air restaurant over looking the harbor is so good we (who NEVER eat at our hotel) ate there all three nights we stayed. Our stay began with Al, the manager, introducing himself and was great throughout. The room was large and very confortable -- the location good - the facilities outstanding. In short we loved it and plan to return.
Loved our stay at the Kismet
We stayed at the Kismet Hotel August 22-24, 2006. This is not a large commercial hotel and cruise ship vacationers do not stay at this hotel. I think we were the only Americans there during our stay. It is smaller, very clean and we would definately go there again. Our stay included a buffet breakfast, but the hotel does not serve dinner. We had a beautiful waterfront view. The whole property offered vistas of the Aegean Coast. There is a cork tennis court at the water's edge. You have access to swim in the sea but there is... more
A thowback, but a lovely stay
Stay here if you appreciate the quiet of a breezy peninsula with lovely gardens (lunch; drinks; just hanging out); a very good dinner overlooking the harbor on the outdoor dining terrace; mid-century furniture; and excellent, helpful service throughout. Don't stay here if you need everything shiny and new, or snooty waiters. A good buffet breakfast is included with the room price. There is free internet access on the computer in the lobby. Yes, the rooms need renovation, but I only want a total redo of the bathroom (not just... more
past it
Might have been good 40 years ago. Should be put down now.
Great Hotel, Breathtaking Views
We loved this hotel. You could not ask for a better location and the photos on the web site do not do the hotel justice. Kusadasi is absolutely gorgeous and the grounds of this hotel are spectacular, with amazing views of the Agean Sea and the harbor. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. The rooms were older and in need of a rennovation, but the rest of the hotel was great and in this amazing city, you should not spend too much time in your room anyway. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fabulous
Although dated this hotel is a gem, the views are outstanding and the service second to none. It is nothing like the modern day tower blocks and although the reception speak good english most of the staff do not, but it is not hard to make them understand. The food is superb and service is second to none. The grounds are well shaded and the pool which is very well hidden is so very rarely used it is like having a private pool. If you want to be transported back into time into a typical new resort and be treat like a person rather than a... more
A Faded Beauty
The Kismet is not a museum piece yet, but its glory days do seem to be in the past. The walls of this historic hotel are covered in photos of various heads of state, royalty, actresses, and politicians who stayed here when the hotel was in its prime, which adds a quaint note of nostalgia to the hotel today. The lobby and restaurants are tastefully furnished with antiques and plush Turkish carpets on polished wood floors, but the 100-plus rooms are in need of a makeover--they are small and not in perfect repair. However, my room and my... more
It's a swindle!
I booked a suite there so that me and my fiance could rest after touring Cappadoccia. According to their web site, this is the most luxurious resort in the area - and they charge for it by Turkish standards. We got room No. 007, like James Bond, as the front desk clerk said. While the hotel must have been very impressive when it was built, management failed to invest in maintenance and upkeep. The room was terrible and had an awful smell. The facilities were not well maintained. Some employee actually encouraged turkeys (no pun... more
Great location, poor management
Hi,we?ve been to the Kismet in Kusadasi in the Summer of 2003 to celebrate a good friend?s wedding and have stayed there for two weeks. The location is the best you can think of for a hotel: located on an island overlooking the city and the marina. All rooms have Sea-view and the rooms we have seen were acceptably spacious, OK-equipped and clean. Some might have needed a renovation. They have a very beautiful garden where you can sit under old trees during the day. For dinner, you can sit out on a terrace overlooking the marina and the... more
