Great location, good rooms and pool, universally poor service
from ruth+andy
During our 5 night stay, we found this hotel was in a really great location for exploring the city. We could walk to what seemed like half a dozen shopping centres in 5 minutes, and it was also really convenient for walking round the lively Bukit Bintang area in the evening. For going further afield we used the monorail a few times which was almost right outside the door of the hotel, and taxis were really easy and quite cheap too. The hotel itself was good physcially, with an attractive lobby area and modern rooms with all the facilities you'd expect. The pool was really nice too and fun to swim among the skyscapers! However, we found that the hotel was let down greatly by the service which was either rude or disjointed. When we arrived, the room we had reserved 3 months in advance was not available, so we had to stay in a different room type and transfer the following morning. As well as being mildy annoying, the fact that this was explained to us without any apology from the reception staff was really disappointing. When we asked why the problem had occured, the member of staff shrugged and said "There is no room available."! Throughout the stay we continued to find the staff on reception really unapproachable, unwilling to offer help when asked and generally unfriendly and abrupt. We also found that our room had often not yet been cleaned when we returned from a day's sightseeing at 4pm. Our final example - this time of disjointed service was on check-out. The bell-boys took our cases from the lift and placed them on the trolley. Once we'd checked out and were ready to go to the taxi - which had been waiting all along - they were nowhere to be seen. That meant we had to lift our bags off the trolley and wheel them ourselves! Not an inconvenience as we'd have done that anyway, but a somewhat pointless "service". Considering this hotel advertises itself as 5-star (it's officially a 4), we were quite disappoined by this service and it didn't endear us to the hotel. Despite the poor service, we still had a great time in KL and found the Parkroyal to be a good base and had all the facilities we needed. It was just a base though, rather than an enjoyable experience in itself. The location is the hotel's saving grace however, and if you are looking for a good base, modern facilities and nothing else I'd reccommend this hotel. In the end, you pay for what you get - you could pay more for better service, but the location wouldn't be as good.
Had a great stay

We stayed at this hotel over the Xmas period. It is a great location. The staff were very helpful. The food was of a very high standard.

Arrived on MAS Golden Holiday itinerary with 6 confirmed hotels This was the only problem hotel. . Arrived at 2.30 pm & told "not registered"..After a time a room was found but "had to be cleaned"so joined 4 other couples waiting 30 to 60 minutes for room cleaning. Told by another guest the same wait had occurred on a previous day.. Disinterested male reception manager at 3 pm stated that the hotel was full & a large group had just moved out (Departure time said to be 12mday!) Breakfast at 7.45 was bedlam. Full dining room , 7 in queue for 1 slow toaster ,7 for a very efficient solo egg lady, people milling around buffet.Waited 5 minutes at mid levels for a lift with space. Problem appeared to be several large conventions & large bus tour groups. Room smallish but modern.Pool large but old & surrounds need total renovation.Excellent gym. Staff very helpful but very busy, Excellent location for rail & shopping But wary re returning as individual tourists get lost in the crowd. Stayed in 24 hotels in Malaysia & first difficulty so either lucky or this hotel needs to look at its reception organization & management Melia & Dorsett Regency (3 stars ) & Istana & Le Meridien (5 stars) much more personal & enjoyable in the past
Great location, lovely room
from RGibbs
Spent 3 days in KL on our way back from Australia. The Parkroyal is lovely and modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a room on the 15th floor which was lovely at night but the next morning we noticed overlooked extensive roadworks and building sites. It didn't bother us too much though as we were so high up. The room was very modern and well-appointed and the bed could easily have slept 4 people! The hotel is brilliantly situated for all the shops, restaurants, trams etc. and also has a decent pool on the 6th floor if you want to relax. The spa was closed for refurbishment while we were there which was unfortunate. We booked room-only so cannot comment on the food, but the nearby cafes & restaurants were very good (i.e. Seed Cafe opposite the hotel).
Overrated hotel with a fantastic location
from juanchoja
They say this hotel was 5 stars, but I can assure you otherwise. For a hotel to be 5 stars is not enough to have a magnificent lobby with marble and luxurious decor. The rooms needs to be 5 stars as well. These rooms are extremely small, I have found better room in 3 stars hotels like Holiday Inn. You got absolutely no spaced to walk one you put your luggage in the floor, very uncomfortable, there was a mini desk next to the bed, you could not even sit down properly because the chair was crashing with the bed and the TV was in the middle of the desk. There is a wired internet connection, but again, you will be very uncomfortable in this desk. No 5 stars or 4 stars features in these rooms, in fact I would classify this hotel as a 3 stars plus, it would be 3 stars without their lobby which is purely make up for appearance to me. The bathroom was very bizarre, with a wall separating the bed and the sink, it had to doors or any proper separation from the bed , the shower did not have any shower floor, just a door, you can see al this in my pictures. Breakfast was very simple, not much to choose for The good side is that the hotel is clean, good location, they provide you with umbrellas and the staff is competent. Overall, I would not stay there again and I do not recommend this hotel for somebody who is travelling around Asia for more than 10 days or so because of the amount of luggage you will carry with you it will take most of the little space you have in these rooms.
Great Location
from sjc82
We got caught up in traffic on the way there but once we arrived and walked it the foyer, it looked very nice. Check in was fast and efficient. we had 2x superior rooms which was a good size, the bathroom was nice and had good little amenities. shower head was good. our room service maid was very friendly and the head guy at the front door was great, he gave us tips, told us how much cabs should cost and was always friendly. its in a good location, the sungei wang mall is across the road and there are quite a few restaurants around the hotel. the buffet breakfast was excellent, great variety and no problem getting a table. overall i would reccommend this hotel.
Average due to outside noise
from Tills75
We stayed at the Park Royal for 3 nights at the end of our holiday, on the way back from Sabah. Travelling with 2 small children under 3yrs, location was important which we couldn't have asked for better, but the noise from the traffic outside and the jack hammering going on around the building was our biggest issue. When looking into it further we noticed the hotel had windows which used to open (now locked with keys) , but the seals were never replaced with the refurbishment the hotel had a few years ago, so in the middle of the day or night it sounded like the window was always open, and the location of being right on the main street didn't help with the noise. After bringing to the hotel attention we moved to 3 different rooms but they got worse as we moved. Overall this hotel is in a great location, but due to the noise we experienced (we were on the 8th and 11th floors) I wouldnt stay at this hotel again. Also having stayed at many 5 star hotels before i dont think the overall standard of the room and bathrooms were a five star standard as mentioned to me by the front office manager, as bits were falling off the TV, the toilet kept flushing for a few minutes everytime we flushed and having to call housekeeping on several occassions to chase towels and cots which were missing from our rooms.
Great Hotel in a Great Location
from donnalovescheese
Our main reasons for booking this hotel were previous good reviews, it's location and the fact that the hotel has a swimming pool. We were not disappointed. Our room was clean and comfortable although very small and perhaps not suitable for stays of longer than a few days due to the lack of storage. As we were only staying for 3 nights this did not bother us (we just didn't fully unpack) and I believe that most hotels in the city have similar size rooms. The hotel is located next to Bukit Bintang where there are many restaurants, bars and shopping centres. It is also next to a monorail station which can be used to get to most of the tourist sights. We used the monorail sometimes and walked other times. If you don't mind a bit of a walk (about 40 mins) then you can walk in different directions to most of the main areas (Chinatown, Petronas Towers). The roof terrace pool was an excellent way to cool down and relax after busy days of walking around the city. Overall, this was an excellent hotel and we will definitely stay there again if we re-visit KL.

Very well located hotel for the golden triangle. Big rooms and excellent breakfast selection.
Great Experience
from EagleEyeScotland
My husband and I stayed at Parkroyal for 9 nights in Orchid Club room (20th floor). Almost every aspect about this hotel is great - the room is spacious and clean, the staff , especially in the club lounge, are very nice and polite and attentive to our every needs, and the location is perfect right in the centre of shopping areas (Bintang Walk). Also good value for money. Next time if we come to KL again we definitely stay at Parkroyal.
