The hotel was fantastic and the staff pleasant and attentive. The cleanliness and service provided by the hotel couldn't be faulted. On site facilities such as horse riding, spa, beach reflexologists, and water sports were all of a high standard. The rooms were large and... more

I visited this hotel for Christmas and it was really super. Being out of the town of Kota Kinablu, (KK) l was afraid l'd be marooned. But needn't have worried. Saga had a free bus to the town 5 times a day, plus a free bus to the lagoon, part of the hotels grounds. At the... more

Paradise
We had a lovely holiday as a family at the Nexus Resort. First impressions were fantastic - the scenery was stunning - with an amazing contrast between the lush rainforest canopy and the picture-perfect white coral beach. Throughout our stay we found the staff in the hotel and restaurants extremely friendly and always ready to assist. Although always professional the staff had a personal touch as they remembered our names. The swimming pool area was very clean and looked after - although if we did have a comment it was that the... more
Had a great, relaxing time!
My wife and I stayed at the Nexus resort from June 13th to the 20th/06. We are Canadians who now reside in Taiwan. A travel agent here in Taiwan recommended the resort. Overall, we were very please with the resort. We simply wanted to get away for a week to completely relax and do nothing. Hence, we didn't spend any of our time sightseeing. We spent every day around the pool, on the beach, just enjoying the sun and the sand. We would return anytime. We found the staff to be very friendly. We were staying in one of the Borneo rooms.... more
Poor Service, Food Poisoning, What more could you ask for?
First, I would like to say that the environment of the hotel was amazing. However everything besides the environment was horrible!!! To start off with, the pick up from the airport was late for 20mins. When we got to the hotel, it took another 20mins for us to check in to a room between two rooms which were being rennovated. I asked the staff whether the world cup was showing in the rooms TV and he said no. When I switched on the TV that night, the game was showing. On the second day, when we had breakfast in the hotel, we asked... more
Very good value for money!
We stayed at the Nexus Resort for 5 days. It was a wonderful relaxing time. The room was spaciuos and very comfortable. Staff was very friendly. Swimming in the ocean was wonderful. The breakfast buffett was wonderful. Also, the hotel offers some activities free of charge, such as Mahjong Lessons, Bike trips etc. We had our dinner either at the Penyu or the Kingfisher, both offer buffet or a la carte. At the Penyu a la carte is definetely better. There are two downsides: The Spa is rather expensive and the resort is very isolated.... more
Yes - we say it is heaven too!
My husband and I stayed at the Nexus in an ocean View room on the top floor, from May 26th to May 31st 2006 at the end of our wonderful Sabah tour with Travelsphere. We loved every moment of it - the views, the rooms, the food, the staff and service were excellent. The gardens, empty white beach and beautiful pools ensured we were relaxed and our batteries well and truly recharged by the time we left. The staff could not do enough to respond to any requests we made and were pleasant and available when needed but not overbearing.... more
Friendly, well-run resort
We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room spacious, clean and with a great view of the endless sandy beach. The breakfast buffet was unbelievably rich, the restaurants good, too. (I particularly liked the Chinese dim-sum.) OK, the pool is a bit too small, and the sea-water probably not as clear as we expected, but still our stay there was relaxing and satisfactory.
Not up to Malaysian Standards
We have been to Malaysia four times in the last 5 years and the Nexus was disappointing. It is the first time we were not made to feel very special. On arrival we were given a key card and told the lifts were round to the right - no welcome drink, not sit down chat with a manager. When we got to the room there was no basket of fruit and only one pair ot slippers that had already been worn. Housekeeping seemed bemused that we should want new slippers and flip flops!! It also took three days to get our sheets changed and five days for... more
Liked the Nexus a lot
I stayed here on April 23 and April 29, 2006, on either end of an 8-day tour through Sabah and Sarawak, and wished I had added on two days at the end to take advantage of the Nexus' amenities. Arriving late, I opted for the luxurious and reasonably priced spa instead of dinner at the restaurants, so had room service. It was very good , though limited offerings at 9 pm (it seems to improve after midnight). I even took photos of the beautiful presentation but I haven't scanned them yet. Breakfast was included in my package, as were... more
Some says it's heaven, we say it's hell!
Just want to share what we've experienced while we stayed in Nexus Resort Karambunai, Kota Kinabalu from May-05 to May-08, 2006 at the Borneo Rooms. The first night we (3 ladies & 2 gentlemen) arrived in the Nexus was about the dinner time, we went to restaurant Penyu to have the seafood dinner buffet, there're only square tables for 4 left so we requested the staff to combine any 2 tables to accommodate us but no matter how we tried, they insisted the tables could not be combined due to lack of space & we could only be sited separately... more
Fabulous!!
We have just returned from the Nexus Borneo Villas and found the whole experience there wonderful! the staff are brilliant and so happy and helpful. The food in all the retaurants was fantastic and very reasonable for a 5* hotel of this calibre. Our villa was amongst beautiful gardens leading to the beach which was ideal for sunbathing and swimming. The sunloungers were under palms or shades and dotted about rather than lined up as some hotels do, affording more privacy and space. The villa was large and had very nice quality... more
