stayed there on honey moon, hotel itself not bad, food not bad, staff seem untrained at times, not enough bar staff to cover amount of guests waiting for a drink, not enough chairs on verander, and swimming pool is very dangerous at sloping end found out to my cost,no anti-slip and no warning signs

We have just arrived back from a 12 night stay at Paradise Island. Apartments were basic but clean. Kids loved it. Staff were lovely, entertainment was good.I found food very good for a 3 star complex. Brilliant value for money. Had I read some reviews before I booked I would have been put off.

Absolutley Brilliant!!
Please everyone ignore the rubbish reviews and go stay here yourselves!! So, yeah there we some new complexes being built nearby and the sewers did smell a bit but so what!!!! I stayed here with my partner and our 2 year old daughter and we loved it. The room was nice the food was gorgeous and the animation team were excellent my daughter loved them and there mini disco every night. I was worried after reading the reviews then we were delayed 12 hours flying out so i was so hoping it would not be as bad as everyone said and it wasnt i loved it and we will deff go again!!!
My opinion
They should not be on an english travel agent, not for the english tourist. Clean rooms, nice food but too many ignorent people. Couldent wait to get home
Paradise Island
We stayed for one week and that was too long! It was our first holiday abroad together, we also took our 4 year old and 22 month old. As we arrived at the hotel (via loads of building sites) we were 'tagged' with an orange wrist band (to identify us as all inclusive), they also put one on our four year old which she had to take off the next day because her wrist became red and inflamed. The Cosmos rep was very unhelpful, every time you wanted to ask him a question he disappeared! The food was awful, I'm talking cold, tinned carrots for breakfast, one morning there was even cold runner beans! We ate in the restaurant for two days untill we physically couldn't stomach anymore and then we ate out in Playa Blanca every day after that. The walk into Playa Blanca took about 20 minutes and the smell of sewerage on the way was overwhelming. Playa Blanca itself is lovely. There looked like there were some lovely hotels close to the centre, and I get the feeling if we had stayed in one of these hotels we would have had a whole different experience. What was funny was that we would regularly meet other Brits at restaurants and find out they were staying at Paradise Island but couldn't bear the food either! On the up side the hotel was spotlessly clean and the apartment was cleaned 5 days out of seven. The staff were polite and the children enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings. The highlight of our holiday was our trip to Timanfaya National Park and a camel ride up the side of a volcano.
Fabulous !!
The hotel is immaculate, with all communal areas cleaned every morning before breakfast. our apartment was very spacious, good decor and cleaned 5 days a week. The pool area again very spacious. The hotel was quite full, but it never felt that way. There was a seperate pool area for young children and a jacuzzi for the adults. We had no children with us, but the area seemed an excellant idea - very safe! Mealtimes could be quite busy. The choice was very good, but not the best for English. We are not that fussy with food, but sometimes found it difficult to find something to our taste. Although, three nights there was Chinese and this was perfect. All freshly cooked in front of you and the best Chinese I had ever had. All the staff were great !! Every day there were activities like shooting, archery, water polo, pool competiotions, darts - always something going on. Entertainment every night except Thursday. We only went to 2 nights, but both were good fun and enjoyable. i would recommend this hotel to families and couples. Not on the beach, but transfers 5 times a day and only 3 mins by coach. only bad points for us - no smoking at any bar, had to go out on the terrace and the wind at night can be quite cold.
Family-friendly holiday
We were on holiday with our 2 year old and our 8 month old baby. (And were lucky to have great sunshine every day) The complex: All areas very clean and well maintained, with attractive landscaping. Situation was fine - no sea wind, and easy to jump on free shuttle bus into town and to the beach. Swimming pools: Unfortunately, the kiddies pools and the biggest swimming pool were not heated - we did brave these, but the mid-sized pool was nicely heated and was never over-crowded at this time of year. All inclusive: Definitely worth booking as a family. May not have been "haute cuisine", but there was always something nice to choose at the buffet. The Chinese was a good alternative too, and plenty of fruit, salads, pasta etc. for the kids. Red wine and beer fine for dinner. Plenty of soft drinks, icecreams etc. available during the day and the bars were not overcrowded in the evening for drinks. The apartment: Was great to have a separate bedroom and a kitchenette as a family with baby. Basic equipment (no kettle or microwave, but pans to boil water). Bedding and sofas looking a bit worn and bathroom tired-looking. But nice patio & balcony front and back, and all was perfectly adequate. For kids: Mini-disco was a hit with our daughter - the highlight of her day every day. Baby slept and we could have a drink - perfect. We tried the baby club. Unfortunately the assistant didn't speak English or German, just Spanish, so our daughter wasn't overly keen to go again - besides there were plently of kids to play with around the pool. The mini-club for 3-upwards looked good and plenty of kids were enjoying that. The play area was a nice distraction, and mini-golf - so there was no getting bored. Overall, a nice sunny, relaxing family holiday.
ignore the rubbish reviews
we (2 30 something adults and a three year old) have just returned from a week all inclusive at the paradise island. We were concerned by the occasional poor review, but need not have been. The room was large, clean and well equipped, the hotel and facilities were well above average, the drinks were plentiful (too plentiful on occasion) and the staff were excellent. the hightlights were the food from the on site chinese restaurant, which was probably the best chinese food i've had, and the kids club, which was excellent. The only minus points were the slightly limited drinks choice, and the majority (90%) non-english residents.I feel unresonable mentioning these faults, as the Hotel, and holiday was excellent.
Fantastic
We have just returned from an amazing all-inclusive break in Lanzarote, We stayed at the Hotel Paradise Island. The hotel looked fantastic from outside and was in a perfect location very close to Playa Blanca, taxi fare either way was never any more then 3 euros. The initial check-in for the hotel was excellent, the staff dealing with us were friendly and very efficient. They ensured that everything was explained and all question were answered. The rooms were spacious and very clean (all rooms are single beds!). The barman and free drinks were great with measures far bigger than the typical singles! At all times during our holiday we were made to feel very special. The selection of food on offer at the hotel was good and the chinese becoming our personal favorite. The evening entertainment was good but more suited to people with families and after a night on the free booze hated the start of the children entertainment which at about half ten in the morning was "Good Morning, Good Morning" or "hey Baby".... All in All the holdiay was fantastic, the hotel was amazing and we will be back as will friends and family!
Avoid all HL Hotels
We just returned from a week at HL Paradise Hotel in Lanzarote. (Was a H10 Hotel before and was a very good Hotel. Not natural juices at all. The coffe from commertical machine. very poor quality. The Drinks also. In the all include is is not included normal brandy as Fundador or Felipe II. The white wine was hot. We only drink machine beer with meals. Never take a excursion from Iberjet. The best from lastminute. 30% cheap. If you like beautiful beaches go to Punta Cana. The food just fair...or less..Wednesday and Friday not clean the rooms. The best the complex. If you like drink a lot and not quality maybe is a good choice for You. agus agustingarguti@yahoo.ca
Paradise Island November 2005
My wife and myself stayed at Paradise island, Playa Blanca in November 2005. We are in our fifties. Very difficult to quantify how good or bad it was being a three star hotel as earlier in the year we had 3 days on Tenerife and 7 days on La Gomera in four star hotels which were absolutely fantastic! But in all, at Paradise Island we had a nice time. To sum it up – cheap and cheerful! We booked the holiday ourselves on the Internet through Alpharooms, the flight through Thomas Cook Airlines and the hire car through Auto Reisen. Pre-booked our own car at Parking Express Gatwick – Everything worked perfectly. Got to the hotel and were given our room key and yellow wrist band which identified us as all-inclusive. Free local drinks, soft drinks, coffee and breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Weather was nice for our week – daytime temps around 24°C. Evenings down to 18°C. Nice and comfortable. What was good about our stay:- Nice weather, plenty of sunbeds, good restaurants in town (recommend Restaurante Varedero – garlic prawns are to die for!) Good measures in the hotel free drinks, Coffee at the pool bar was excellent, very clean apartment and pool area. What was indifferent:- The food in the restaurant – a bit like a holiday camp, somewhat bland and boring – but OK. (We went out to town four out of the seven nights). The beer was average. The staff – some were very friendly, some were stand offish, but never rude, generally they were OK. What was not good:- The coffee in the restaurant, and the lukewarm water to try and make tea, The white and red wine…ughh!!!. The sewage treatment plant in the south west corner of the apartments. We got a whiff now and then, the people two apartments down must have had nostrils full of it – and they overlooked a building site. But the greatest negative was without doubt the Animacion team at 10:30 every morning, at the pool with the speakers on full blast with “Good Morning, good morning” – from the musical ‘ Singing in the Rain” Followed by ‘The Birdie Song’ and ‘Hey Baby Oooh-Arhh’. Telling everyone about the entertainment for the day. For us it was the pain barrier – not our taste – but there were people who actually liked it. We thought it was tacky. So in summary – I’m glad we went. For the money it was good value – A real case of ‘You get what you pay for’ Wouldn’t go back again though. The four star hotels have definitely spoiled us. Highlights of the holiday were the trip to the Timanfaya National Park, the local beaches and restaurants and the hire car which gave us freedom.
a bit of a roughouse
just got back the accommmodation was distinctly average . the cosmos rep was not particularly helpful and the beer was terrible. also i felt that i was treated with contempt by the hotel staff and they displayed general roughouse treatment
