Jul 2007, Miss L Naylor

This was the worse place I have ever stayed at.
It was dirty, the food was disgusting, how anyone can say this place was clean is beyond me, they must of walked around with their eyes closed.
Our children were being sick, we pulled the bedding back one night and there was ants in the bed, the food area was not clean, the bins was over flowing.
There is nothing I can say nice about this hotel.

Jun 2007, Miss S Davies

I have just returned from a week’s holiday at this hotel and thought it was brilliant.
The food is amazing but they are trying to cater for a wide range of people so some of the things are not what you'd expect for some mealtimes. There were 6 of us and everyone found something they liked and I’ve come back 1/2 a stone heavier!
The staff are lovely and the whole hotel is very clean and tidy. The only bit that we thought let the hotel down was the mini golf and outdoor chess area which felt like it had been a bit forgotten about. This is at the far end of the complex and is pretty much out of the way and is a bit run down.
There seemed to be mostly Spanish people at the hotel and also a lot of French and German people so there really is a wide range of tastes to cater for which I think they do really well. Most of the Spanish people are 50+ and this generation seem to have forgotten about manners and are very pushy especially at the buffet but this isn't down to the hotel at all.
We were a group all either 22 or 23 but we are happy just with bars and restaurants. If you are after lively nightlife then this resort isn't really for you. There are some bars down in playa Blanca especially a great karaoke bar which is open until 2am but there are no nightclubs.
It is a good 20min walk to the nearest beach and a good 30 mins to the main street but the buses are very reliable if you don't want to walk.
We went on the Grand Tour trip which was great and we saw nearly all of the island. It was definitely worth the money. We are exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel!
We also went on the Catlanza gold sailing afternoon which was lovely. The crew on the Catamaran are a right laugh and you sail round to the Papagayo beaches whilst drinking champagne and then can snorkel with the fish and have a ride on a jet ski.
Please give this hotel a go as I can assure you, you won't be disappointed.

May 2007, Mr S T McClurey

We booked this 7 night holiday as a last minute booking as it sounded ideal. After reading some of the reviews on the internet we were not expecting a lot.
After a good flight and transfer we arrived at the hotel to find that most of the negative reviews couldn't have been more wrong.
The staff were very helpful ,we thought it was a bit over the top getting tagged, although we can understand why this was necessary.
The 1st floor room was clean, nice, and large with balconies to both sides and a large double bed. There was a safe in the room which you paid 10 euro for in line with other hotels we have stayed at and also you could pay to have the air con and telly turned on but we didn't need either.
The food was better than expected with a good choice at breakfast and dinner, if you like dessert you will be in heaven it was cake, puddings and more cake (yummy).
Although the hotel was quite a distance from the beach there was a free bus throughout the day. As I am slightly disabled I tend to notice things like access ramps etc and found that even in a wheelchair there was access all the areas in the complex and the ground floor rooms.
When we arrived on Lanzarote there was a quite strong wind which blew all week, this made it feel quite cool, but when the sun broke through it was easy to get burnt without knowing.
We booked a couple of trips through Thomas Cook, one was a submarine trip which went down 40 metres this trip is well worth the money, and in my book, a must do the second trip was the grand tour of the island, but sadly there was a general strike the day we went and we couldn't access the volcano chain and other sites, although we did manage a camel ride, Thomas Cook accepted that the trip was shortened and refunded half the booking fee.
Apart from the volcanoes the scenery was rocks, rocks and more rocks. We will definitely return to the same hotel as the visit to the volcanoes is a must do.

Mar 2007, Mrs St Francis

My partner and I, decided to take a chance and book an all inclusive 11 night break to the Paradise Island, despite reading many negative reviews.
So glad we did, we had a great time!
Apartment was spacious and clean. Pool area spotless with plenty of sun beds.
Would challenge even the fussiest eater not to be able to find something to eat and the Chinese buffet 5 nights a week was a joy!
The only negative had to pay for bottled water and for use of the TV.
Weather was fantastic! Keep an open mind and give it a go!

Feb 2007, Mrs R Connelly

Having just returned I wanted to let everybody know that this was a lovely hotel.
The food was good, service was great and the staff friendly.
Activities were good. Accommodation was clean and spacious.
In all we had a great time. This is a bit remote, about 15 min walk from other bars and shops etc, but there is a bus and with all inclusive, we didn't feel the need to go too far anyway.

Jan 2007, Ms M Connolly

This is not All Inclusive - you have been warned. There are extra charges for the TV in the room, you have to buy water. And you get charged for use of all amenities.
Food is terrible at best and they don’t have enough staff to cope with all the guests needs.
It is also a hike from the main centre of playa Blanc and smells of sewage.
There is also a building site across the road, with heavy earth moving machinery going past.
Hardly paradise - 2 star - and that’s being generous.

Dec 2006, Mrs A Kenyon

We arrived at Paradise Island and first impression were very good.
Our apartment was very clean and spacious. We were all inclusive but the food was awful.
Breakfast was scrambled egg but not cooked properly peas / green beans or carrots! Plenty of bread and jam, though 1 toaster between the whole hotel. Lunch was fish chips, dinner was fish chips, chips with all meals. In the end we ate out every night.
However I would go back self catering as hotel and pools excellent. Entertainment a bit of a let down and started so late for the kids.

When we arrived at the hotel we were...

Jul 2006, Mr R Whitworth

When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in very quickly and given directions to our room. Rooms here are set out in 2 storey buildings each with a living area, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette, complete with a fridge. We were impressed with the size of the rooms and the layout even though there was no air conditioning, however, this did not prove to be a problem as the temperature dropped in the evening and we didn’t feel the need to hire a fan from reception, which was possible if necessary.
We then went down to the pool area, but found there were no vacant sunbeds. We would recommend that you grab a sunbed early as there is no where near enough sunbeds for the number of people who stop in the hotel!!
The pool was a good size, and not too deep. There was also a separate shallower pool for the water activities which took place everyday, as well as another separate pool for children.
The pool and the area around the pool were always kept very clean.
The staff at the hotel were all very helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English.
THE FOOD:
Breakfast: Consisted of peas and carrots, either bacon or sausage never both, beans (which were often not too warm!) and a selection of continental breakfast items.
Lunch: Was fish most days normally with one other sort of meat, usually pork or veal. There was usually some sort of vegetables and chips!!
Dinner: We used the Chinese buffet most nights, which is in the hotel and is included in the all inclusive price. This was always good food, even though there was only one dish per night.
The canarian night in the hotel was also very good and included lots of roast pork and vegetables.
The only slight let down was that many of the "brand" name drinks were not included in the all inclusive, and you had to buy bottled water. The bar in the entertainment area only had one barman on at a time, so there was often a queue for drinks. The all inclusive finished at 11pm and after this ALL drinks had to be paid for with cash.
There is also a supermarket on the hotel site, which sells a wide range of food and drinks for really cheap prices.
The hotel offered a wide variety of excursions, the prices varied depending on the excursion.
Overall, a very enjoyable holiday, which we would visit again!!!

Jul 2006, Miss Jane Wilikinson

Hotel lovely and clean, staff all very friendly and helpful.
Food would have been lovely if u were prepared to eat fish for breakfast, dinner, tea and supper! Although there is a Chinese buffet on 6 nights a week for those who would eat that! Me and my fiancé thoroughly enjoyed this holiday, and would definitely go back again!
However, ladies, keep your eyes on your men when one of the entertainment reps is about, (the Dutch one, blonde hair!), as she has a tendency to flirt and chat up your man! Did so with my fiancé and two other couples we met whilst out there!
Apart from that, had a wonderful holiday and would recommend it to couples and families, for a peaceful relaxing holiday!

Feb 2006, Miss P Manning

Very pleasantly surprised with this spacious, light, clean and friendly resort. Nice facilities and all the staff were friendly if lacking in spoken English.
The food was plentiful but slightly monotonous on the salad side. Hot food wise it was all fairly bog standard verging on the greasy and they liked using a lot of salt. By far the best meal night was on the Canarian theme night where roast pork was served, FANTASTIC!
Too many naughty puddings and horribly bruised fruit meant a bit of tight trouser syndrome by the end of our too short holiday!
Lovely little apartments in 1 storey bocks, great terrace/balcony sun traps if the weather is kind to you.
Would definitely recommend to others. A lovely resort to stay in couples of small groups, not for large rowdy groups looking for a party style resort.

Oct 2004, Mrs H Currie

This was our first all inclusive holiday and we were a bit worried, having read mixed reports about the hotel.
We found the apartment very spacious and clean.
The food was fine - lots of choice and plenty of everything -our only complaint was, there was no air conditioning in the restaurant.
The entertainment was good and the mini clubs had plenty going on to amuse our 7 year old son.
We did think that the drinks should have been available until at least midnight, but apart from that, no complaints.
All in all we had a great time here and will go back.

5 / 10
Apr 2004, Mr W Mosiuk

We travelled in April (Easter) 2004 with First Choice, 2 adults & 2 boys (18 & 11)
A beautiful setting with nice surroundings and the apartments were well spaced and generally good, the pools were nice, and well maintained, but the gymnasium was sparse of equipment, and what was left was either broken or incomplete. There were also extra charges for named brand drinks, drinks after 11.00 pm, tennis, golf and sun bed mats, something that was unheard of on our previous all-in holidays.
This was our fourth all-inclusive, and definitely the worst. The restaurant left a lot to be desired, empty tables were difficult to find and we usually ended up sitting at a dirty table, because it hadn’t been cleaned up from the previous users. We mostly had to queue for food, and the choice was very poor, and not always well cooked, sometimes cold and usually a mish mash of the previous days menus. Sadly, the only thing that was consistent is the chips. They were always running out of cups and glasses, and tea, coffee, milk and fruit juices in the machines. There just wasn’t enough staff in the restaurant to cope with busy periods.
To be sure of getting a seat to watch the entertainment we had to queue at the door at 8.30 pm (entertainment didn’t start till 10.00 pm). Queues at the bars in the evening were too long, sometimes waiting up to 15 mins for a drink, but there was rarely more than one person serving, and the beer came in small glasses, less than one third of a pint. (Not enough staff again, or just a clever way of making sure that they didn’t run up a large bar bill) the latter I think. This was the most that we’d paid for an all inclusive - but the least that we got in return.
Sorry Paradise Island, but you left us a little disappointed.
