Just returned from a week at Paradise Island and to be honest, me and my partner would not go back to this hotel if they gave us a week's free accommodation.
Only good points are the spacious rooms but make sure you ask for a first floor room as the ground floor rooms are mostly shaded and if the people staying above you make any noise at all, you may be in for a few sleepless nights as the walls/ceilings must be paper thin. The swimming pools are just about ok.
Bad points - Where do I start? Food and Drink, undercooked meats (usually veal) or very dodgy looking fish, the previous nights left-overs from dinner will be mixed together and provided for you again for that day's breakfast/lunch. Honestly, we managed a bit of toast and eggs for breakfast and ate out the other six nights at some lovely restaurants in Playa Blanca. Believe me, we are not fussy eaters but this food was very, very poor.
The drinks were local and awful too. The beer was a poor version of Stella Artios, the spirits cheap and nasty and the red and rose wine the worst I have tasted ever.
We actually bought 'over-priced' snacks and drinks from the supermarket next door to get by during the week. I'm sure this supermarket is owned and run by the hotel too.
The location of Paradise Island is a little too far from Playa Blanca resort, probably over a mile to walk or about 3/4 euro's in a taxi. We also seen some beautiful hotels along the resort that we wished we had booked instead of Paradise Island, we spoke to customers at these hotels that said the food/drink was very, very good.
Entertainment was usually the hotel staff dressed up and performing some awful but funny play/show a couple of times a week. The nightclub was grubby and smelly.
In closing, I guess it's a case of once bitten, twice shy for our experience of Paradise Island. We can honestly say that it's a place we will never cross the doors of again.
The only reason we gave it a rating of 2 was the spacious rooms.

After reading the reviews regarding the food i was extremly concerned but tried to keep an open mind!! found the complex beautiful, pretty and clean, the appartments i found fine, large, comfortable and just what i'd expected. The views was amazing especially from the top floor of the Hotel Reception area, although the smell around the whole complex wasnt so good as it has an open sewer that just had a wicker fence around it quite clearly trying to disguise it but it doesnt hide the disgusting aroma in the air!!
Now the food - it was AWFUL, it was luke warm, sloppy and just disgusting!! This hotel doesnt cater for the English, its all foriegn food the same every day, so we pretty much lived on Chips and fresh bread. 90% of the hotel was Germans,Italians & Spanish. Even the entertainment was in the above languages, so trying to do bingo in German was mission impossible. The entertainment was extremly poor although they tried there best. The best thing by far about this holiday was MITCHELL he was GREAT!! With my older daughters (18 & 19) and really good with my son and friends son both aged 9 if it wasnt for him it would of been hell!! Youre in a baron part of Lanzarote with no where even near, everything at least 30 minutes away by bus/taxi. Woud love to return to Lanzarote but most definatly not to Paradise Island - its no where near Paradise more like HELL!!

just returned from paradise island. the complex was nice with great pools, plenty sun beds, but it was out of the way and you had to get the shuttle to town. the rooms were spacous and cleaned every day, but the pillows were flat and towels you could not get dried on. the food was naff. rabbit, veal and fish most nights, ended up with soup and ice cream for dinner most nights. there was plenty to drink but the cheap spirits and soft drinks in the downstairs bar were terrible. plenty to enterain during the day, john and mitchel work realy hard, but the entertainment in the downstairs bar was of kiddies stuff.

I went to Paradise island with my daughter who is 14, my son of 23 and his girlfriend. After glancing at some reviews we started to doubt whether we would enjoy the holiday and got very anxious but when we arrived there we found the staff very friendly and spoke good english. The food was quite similar but nevertheless enjoyable and there is a chinese resturant on site which is open 5 times a week if you fancy a change. The room was kept clean and their was daytime and evevning activites which we;re varied and fun. The downside to the hotel is that it is not really in walking distance of anywhere but the hotel does have a courtesy shuttle bus to take you to playa dorada beach and their are many shops, bars and resturants there. Taxi's are quite cheap to, beach is about 5 minutes by shuttle bus and taxi. We went for 1 week and wish we had longer. My daughter really enjoyed the holiday and would like to go back so the hotel provides stuff for all ages. Plus their is 1 shop next to the hotel which is like a newsagents and sells english papers and magazines and food, drinks and games. Overall a nice place to stay that offers a quite place to relax but not far from the main area.

location-out of the way and not close to a beach. courtesy bus last run back to hotel is 3.15pm so too early if you go to the beach for the day. taxi to beach was 3-4 euro each way
Accomodation-basic,towels hard, only 1 flat pillow each, blankets grotty
paradise island could be lovely . the grounds were lovely and the pools and the activities were great for my 2 boys (aged 12 and 13)-eg football, archery, water polo
Mitchell from the animation team was great and kept the boys happy as the weather was poor.if you go in winter take a few jumpers, trousers and a jacket as if the sun is in its cold.
you have to pay 1 euro for sunbed cushions and if you need a hairdryer take yr own as there are none in rooms and cost 10 euro a week to hire
Food- not good. ok if you like chips and salad , no variety. lived off jelly and ice cream but at last i had strong nails when i came home.
drink- all inclusive only till 11pm . coffee was disgusting, juices were too sweet and not natural and although there was a choice of red, rose and white wine all were not good. lager was ok .
summary- would not go there again .needs a good manager there to sort all the problems out. I would rate this a 2star not 3 star
weather 3 good days out of 7

paradise island hotel is a clean welcoming massive complex with friendly will and happy to help staff. the food is plentiful but average, the only really hot food is the chinese if you get is straight from the wok! everything else is tepid and quite repetitive.
please do not get excited about the entertainment!!! the south africa and dutch lad together with the dutch girl are tireless in their efforts with the kids and adults alike but to be quite honest i have seen better school productions (which is purely down to what these youngsters have to work with) they are all fantastic kids.
obviously going in january the pool was too cold to swim in and the heated pool wasnt warm enough with the weather we had. all the pools were cleaned daily (the jacuzzi didnt work the whole time we were there).
Think carefully before you book if you dont like CATS - like the food they are plentiful and also like to entertain with a daily chorus around 6am daily.
All inclusive DOES NOT INCLUDE the remote for the tv, drinks after 11pm and air con in the summer - not what i call all inclusive!!
the supermarket next door to the complex is incredulously expensive (and its not just down to the exchange rate) walk further along the prom where prices are a bit cheaper but not much as this is purely a tourist area, not a scrap of culture to be found for miles.
the location of the complex is remote, do not go there if you are mobility impared. the courtesy bus is a joke we tried numerous time to catch it but it had either "gone" early or did not stop as it was full!!!!!

We have just returned from a week at Paradise Island Hotel and we had a wonderful time, although the hotel is a little way out of the town. The hotel is kept very clean and in the buffet restaurant there was a vast selection of food that was very tasty but could have been a little warmer. The Chinese Restauant was very good but had limited choice. The animation staff were quite good but we have seen better, but they made up for their lack of experience with enthusiasum.
The excursions that we would have had to go on to see all the island would have cost us £228.00, instead we hired a car for three days which cost us £92.00 (including fuel). We hired the car in Playa Blanca from Posh Cars, this was quite painless and they brought the car to the hotel for us (there were several car hire companies at comparable prices) there.
Playa Blanca was out of all the resorts the best one for us. The holiday overall was excellent and anyone wanting value for money should consider this hotel and resort.

me,mum and 12 year old son went here ai for a week ...very nervous after reading the reviews...but had great time yes the spanish are rude and made the children give up their seats in the kids club ..which i thought was rude!!!but kept my cool as didnt want to give brits a bad name..my advice is towels on your sun lounger at breakfast...the free bus was good shops and beach was lovely hotel is bit tatty but as long as you have food drink comfy bed and clean place what more can you ask for??met some great people while there family from manchester who were great laugh and my now friend from bristol and her two kids all i can say is holidays are about relaxing not picking fault yes the food may not be to everyones standard but the food is cheap in the centre of playa blanca and i ate tuna steaks and other kinds of fish which i wouldnt at home i admit i did miss british food but all i can say is if you want variety dont go all inclusive (as its people who want the ritz knock it as the pits) and i thought the place was great met some great people and would go again and stay here a holiday is what you make it!!!

My wife and I visited this Hotel last May. The service was fantastic, the staff were great, food excellent and the accommodation was very clean, cleaner in 6 day a week, done an excellent job.
I read some of the comments prior to our visit and found when we got there, they were totally wrong. We have already agreed to return 2009.
Well done to all at Paradise Island staff and management.

we had a week at this hotel but after 3 days we wanted to be home. if it was not for salad we would not of eaten' the food was rotten i would not of fed it to my dog. it said it was a wheelchair friendly hotel as i use a wheelchair i can tell you this is not the case. the ramps are very steep no way can you scail them without a very strong helper in some parts 2 very strong helpers.they did not clean the tables properly but dusted the food on to the floor and swept it up sometimes as we ate.the entertainment well that is something we will never forget. not good.I have told everyone not to go and if i won a holiday there i would give it away.the only good points were the hot sunshine and we made some good friends but weall said the same thing never again if after this warning you decide to go take pleanty of food as the nearest shop is 2mile away as is the beech'''
