If you havent paid much the you will probable enjoy it
The hotel is comprised of a reception with leads to the grounds of the hotel which are very attactive. Small green lawns and beautiful flowers between the three storey block that make up the hotel. A central path takes you to the pool and canteen area. I can't understand why peole have a problem with the food. Why should having Turkish food be a problem when you are in Turkey? Its usually only one option and whats the problem with meaty stew or fish anyway? People complain about having chicken frequently but we had high quality beef just as often. As for the drinks nothing I had tasted watered down but I had a real problem with the cleanliness of the glasses/plastic beakers During the day the pool area is very busy but the beach is only a 100metres away and if you walk a little further along you can your choice of sunbathing spots and free sunbeds. If you don't mind paying for your drink or food you can have them delivered to you on the beach. Use the hotel as a base to explore the area, and don't expext 4* quality.
Chicken luvvly chicken!!!!!!
Just returned from La luna, worst 2 weeks holiday we've ever had. Dirty room, floor not cleaned once. Cleaner very good at petals on bed though. Chicken every meal, never hot, food shipped in from another hotel. Bar\ staff rude and watered down drinks. Plastic garden furniture in canteen (cant call it a restaurant) dirty tablecloths and cutlery. Hi de hi style entertainment with boom boom music from 10am till 1 am. Goldtrail rep says this is a 4 sun hotel, not a 4 star, work that one out. Have sent letter requesting full refund, watch this space.
Four Star------- HA!
Room was not very clean... judging by the size and location of the cobwebs, it hadn't been cleaned for months. Shower mainly cold, of the 7 nights we stayed, the shower was warm on 1 night, luke warm another and cold the rest. Also no clean towels on a daily basis. Food, although plentyfull was somewhat bland, repeatative and seemed to include chicken on a daily basis. Food tended to be cold.. uncooked boiled eggs, cold beans....and what you didn't eat one day was recycled the next. Only one bar serving all hotel guests, and at times bar staff rude, slow and deliberately awarkward. Bar staff used hands to pick up ice, 'plastic beakers' were not clean. All inclusive didn't include icecream, and some spirits...including turkish ones!! or any drinks asked for after 11pm. This was not a 4 star hotel, a 2 star at best. A lot of noise from the hotel sound system, although to be fair, it did quieten down at meal times and after about 1.30am... What made the holiday for us was the new friends we met... and the hotel Turkish bath... very good.. no honestly it was...and the staff were very friendly.
Thoroughly Disappointed with the Bad Attitudes...
I'll start with the good points... the hotel was pretty and very clean, there was staff constantly making sure the hotal and pool area was spotless, but that is where the good things end!!! Maybe if there were one or two minor problems we wouldn't be writing this review but everyday the problems multiplied. When we first arrived at the hotel the "mini bar" (an empty fridge!) in the room was actually warmer than the room- nowhere to keep drinks cold or cool, only luke warm. Then the second day we were there, our shower became FREEZING cold and didn't warm up no matter what time of day we tried. We mentioned this to the reception staff who didn't even ask us what room we were staying in, then started talking over us in Turkish and smirking. We let this go the first time as we didn't want to spoil our holiday and thought it was just a minor hitch! The next day we still had the same problem and mentioned it to the staff again and they again fobbed us off by writing down the complaint then throwing the bit of paper away as we were leaving the desk. We even mentioned this to our rep who said she'd try to sort it but this didn't happen. Eventually after four days of ice cold showers, a lot of trips to reception and several phonecalls to Goldtrail's Turkish head office we eventually were given a new room!! Which was of a better standard. However the fridge and shower weren't the only problems with our room, the toilet flushed constantly and a few of the wall lights did not work. We were on the ground floor and after leaving our lilos out on our verander overnight one of them was stolen after 2 days! The staff on reception were extremely rude and unhelpful and conveniently couldn't understand us when we told them of our problems. As mentioned before they spoke over us when we tried to talk to them and sometimes walked away. The one bar that was open during the day for the free drinks was only ever manned by one person, so there was a constant queue for both soft drinks and alcohol (why weren't the soft drinks self service?) Most people did wait in thre queue but some guests walked to the front of the bar and we served straight away, these guests were the ones who constantly seemed to get preferrential treatment over other guests from the waiting staff too! The bar staff also often took away half drunk drinks even when you had told them you weren't finished. The waiting staff were sometimes over friendly and oftem kept trying to touch us when we were eating our meals and on one occasion one of the waiters thought it was ok to sneak up on me while sunbathing topless and run a block of ice down the centre of my chest!!!!! This is unacceptable in any country, however this complaint also seemed to fall on deaf ears, no doubt this waiter will be doing the same to another guest next week!!!!! The food was bland and boring. The only decent food was the fresh salads. However you had to keep an eye on the salad section as there was often recycled food from the night before put out and this sometimes looked like it was on the turn! Luckily for us there were establishments outside the hotal that were cheap and were of a higher quality. We would definitely recommend Amigos the Mexican just outside the hotal, the food and staff were a cut above the La Luna. Bodrum is a nice resort and the bus stop is to the right of the hotel, they come every ten minutes for 24 hours so you can escape any time of the day! The only 4 star quality was the cleanliness, it wil only ever be a 2 star hotel unless they start responding to the many complaints of the quests. Thoroughly disappointed and would strongly advise people not to stay in the La Luna Hotel.
what is 4 star?
4star is not how we would rate the La Luna The temps were hot day and night, hot...thankfully the room had air con and we were lucky as our room was in the block near the pool and we were not ground floor. The room was about 3 star.standard. We ate our first All Inclusive meal LUNCH-in the open-sided cafe type area (2 star)and I wondered where the restaurant was as I had not seen one -this was because all meals were served in the same area. Help yourself to what ever you wanted as long as you did not want anything freshly cooked. The bread and cheese were always good!.. Day time activities around the pool were silly games but acceptable Evening entertainment was poor only 1 star( you could play bingo in 3 languages or have a karioki singsong.)Local mini bus from outside the hotel to the town was great cheap transport and you could get to (and back from)all the nearby towns for very little money. The day boat trip was excellent and surprisingly so was the "village tour"but the guide we had really knew his location and all about the village we went to..and he made the tour. If you stay here you need to insist on a good room and eat out several times at the nearby restaurants.
Horrible !!!!!
Holiday from hell. Pumping music most of day by the pool (brief respite for lunch and evening meal ) at level of disco loudness : could not listen to own i pod. At 9.30pm turn up music even louder again til 1.30 am courtsey of their on site "night club." !!!! Not suitable for young families due to the noise. Could not even have sleep in afternoon due to noise levels. Food was poor and plain. One memorable dish was yesterdays chips in thousand island dressing which was presented as a salad dish. Have not come across such crass entertainent such as pool games and aerobics at pumping volume, since went on 18 - 30 holiday some years ago !!! Rep described it as "brits abroad" and tried to sell us booze cruises and pub crawls - although it was obvious that we had toddlers with us. Not a family hotel. Lots of twenty somethings getting drunk and making lots of noise. Awful , awful, awful .
Would Never go back!!!!
Well on returning to Newcastle airport early this morning, we discovered that items had been stolen from our hand luggage; a digital camera and a present for my girlfriend. We have reason to believe this happened whilst in the hotel during our final day. That aside, this hotel definetely is not a 4* hotel, by anyone's standards. It barely meets a 2*. This is because, for an "all inclusive" visit, we had to buy any drinks such as cocktails, or ice lollies/ice creams. The food was absoloutley terrible, very repetitive, resulting in us eating out on more than one occassion. For breakfast, we had to live on bread, or nothing else!! The "tea" tasted like dishwater - and the coffee, tasted like tea. For evening meal, chicken was on the menu EVERY night, followed by literally 4 more choices of rice, chips, curry sauce, and salad. The poolside "entertainment" was not only repetitive, but also unbearably annoying, making us not want to stay there! There was absoloutley no relaxation time whatsoever, as the music was far too constant and LOUD! The only time it was peaceful was during the 2 hours of lunch. However, not all is bad! The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy, and most of the staff are friendly enough, but room for improvement. I would certainly not reccommend this hotel or in fact, resort, to any body wanting a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Me and my family will not be returning again. Even though, we did enjoy the holiday overall, this was not assisted in any way by the hotel. And it might be worth noting that we have yet to even encounter our "trust" rep...
In a word good value
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the la luna, the hotel is well situated away from the main bar street, yet just 50 yards to the beach. the animation team work very hard and provide good poolside entertainment and a show each evening. The clientele is a mixture of English, Belgium, Dutch, Turkish. Overall the food was good and i'm not complaining about the drinks as my 3 kids did'nt mind getting free coke fanta and sprite all day 'if you want an ice cream they cost about 50p. The hotel was very clean and tidy and the A/C in both rooms was very efficient 'great to step back into after bathing in 42c each day. The hotel has a turkish bath and onsite masseurs, hairdressers small gym, pool room, internet facilities, darts and table tennis, plus alongside the hotel there is an astroturf footbal pitch. All the bars along the beach front seem to offer a free show each night, and there was a couple of really good restaurants namely the TURIHAN at the far end of the beach where they set out tables directly on the beach 'how romantic' . all in all we had a great holiday and would definately recommend the hotel to others
Not to bad
Me and the girlfriend visited Gumbet last year, and we loved it, however this year we decided that we didn't want to have to worry about money, and therefor decided on an "all inclusive" package at La Luna Beach Club, a hotel that has only opened last year. The first impressions weren't great to be fair, the taxi pulled up outside and the complex is surrounded by unfinished building work.. possibly other hotels in the making.. infact very possible as Gumbet seems to be thriving. However, on entrance to the hotel, your greeted with a fresh clean reception area.. small but to the point. One of the lads on reception is brilliant and can speak very good english and is good with kids also from what we saw, there is other people on reception though that look at you strange when you ask them something. Our first problem was that we had payed for a "pool view" room as apposed to the standard garden view, which might I add, is very nice.. but they stuck us in a room on the ground floor, nowhere near the pool, facing one of the unfinished buildings... we returned straight to reception and showed our booking summary and they moved us to our requested pool view room. Now the rooms arent anything out of this world, and to be honest, I was unsure why they were rated as 4 star, I've stayed at much nicer 3 stars, But, the room had everything that you needed, a fridge, shower, bed and a television.. that shows turkish and german channels. The pool is clean and more than addiquate, very rarely is it overcrowded, and the chlorine levels are spot on.. the only problem is that at a few points in the day, the entertainent team take over the pool with games, but if you get involved, it's not really a problem ! The bar is very very poor, only one pump that serves beer (Efes beer, it's refreshing and quite strong), the spirits vary day to day, somedays you can taste them, others you can't, and there is a poor range so choose from.. cocktails are not included and cost around £5 each. I also found a few members of the bar staff quite moody and unwilling to help. The restaraunt was very nicely laid out, surrounded by impressive food sculptures, there was a good range of dishes to choose from, however the menu was very repetative, especially at breakfast when you would get a choice of a boiled egg, some beans and a mixture of other little bits and bobs.. breakfast in my mind is very poor here, and we eventually started eating out in the mornings.. I recommend Cafe De Columbia, which is near the windy bay steak house. The waiting staff were friendly and kept the place tidy.. they would even come and have a conversation with you at the table.. we found one particular waiter very funny as he could only say "enjoy your meal" and he would say this, even as he collected your empty plates.. but it's the thought and effort behind it that counts. A security guard is on hand 24/7 to make sure everyone behaves so you dont get unruly kids legging it round at silly o'clock. The one BIG difference in Gumbet this year, and it was very noticable at this hotel in particular, was the rise in French and German Tourists in particular, and ofcourse you find that they do in fact display some of the steriotypical characteristics we have come to know... particularly the rudeness.. and wanting to be first.. the british are very much out numbered at this hotel and if you want to find a holiday friend that speaks the same language... this may not be the best choice. The supermarket on site was tiny and sold very litte, but what was there was reasonably priced. My biggest gripe is that we were asked to vacate our rooms by 12pm on the 30th of July, but our flight wasn't until 07:15 on the 31st, and we arrived on the 24th and had payed for 7 nights.. only slept 5, but the hotel werent having any of it and refused us the rooms, and actually told us they had overbooked ! Oh and if you do decide to get a shower after you have checked out, you can use the turkish bath.. only theres no where private to change and you are expected to parade in the buff in front of whom ever decides they want to be there at any given moment ! Overall, I was disapointed at the level of the rooms.. definately not what I would call 4 star material... the food was nice but repetative, the staff more often than not were kind and helpfull, the bar was very very poor and the over all cleanliness was very good. I would consider staying here again if they made the effort to resolve some of the above issues and maintain the good ponts.
good deal/last min booking!
this hotel is a really nice hotel, the standard of cleanliness are aparent everywhere you go. most of the staff are really pleasant, though the bar staff are a bit long faced at times(this is to be expected with one bar for the whole complex!)the food was repetative though nice. the drinks were apaulling!!!! they were watered down to such an extent that they were tasteless!! and only in your all inclusive option until 11pm!!!!12 midnight would be much better! you cant get a cocktail in your all inclusive option! and the meal times could be better organised....8pm is way too late for an evening meal when there is no real entertainment on site therefore you want to go out(spending money that you thought you wouldnt need too!) OVERALL, LOVELY HOTEL, CLEAN GORGEOUS.........DRASTICALLY LET DOWN BY THE SO CALLED ALL INCLUSIVE OPTION.............WHICH MEANT EVEN KIDS COULDNT GET LOLLIES/ICECEAM!!! AND THE DRINKS WERE THE WORST I HAVE EVER TASTED,WE WENT OUT EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS!...OH AND THE COMMENTS BOOK IS PLACED WHERE THEY WATCH YOU FILLING IT IN!!!! IN THE DINNING ROOM!............mmmm maybe not the way they are going to get an honest review? lynda and davey
