Dogan Hotel

Having read the previous reviews I am not surprised- same thing happened to us- we turn up at the hotel and were informed that they could not take us and tried to book us into the Argos, allegedly a sister (?) hotel and a room with a similar standards- absolute rubbish, it was very disappointing and the room wasn't clean at all, no compensation or even apology- we left and found a perfectly good hotel just close by- my advice is yes the Dogan is lovely but you can't rely on your booking being upheld- I wish we had encountered the helpful... more

My wife and I had booked into the Dogan for two nights. We arrived a day early because we had been staying at Kadir's in Olympus and left early (separate review). The Dogan was fully booked on that night, apparently, and it was suggested we stay at the Argos for the night. The Argos seems to be associated with the Dogan in some way. We did stay there, but I agree with an earlier reviewer who suggested that the Argos is simply not up to the same standard. We felt ready to rest when we arrived at the Dogan, as we had flown in after spending four hectic days in Istanbul. Imagine our disappointment, then, when the receptionist told us that the hotel was fully booked! This was apparently due to the fact that a guest had been taken ill, and couldn't fly home until the next day. We were offered a room for one night in a neighbouring hotel, the Argos. I stayed here with a friend in June and we had a delightful experience. The hotel is in the old part of Antalya, which is charming and will probably just get better since there seems to be lots of restoration going on in the whole Kaleici area. The hotel itself is at the end of a street, very secluded and quiet, with a beautiful courtyard where dinner and breakfast are served. We popped in without reservations and they showed us two rooms that were available, both attic style. After being on a boat for 4 days we took the larger room for about 60 euros a nite, cash. We were won over by the beatiful pool situated between the buildings, the furnishings and bathroom, as well as the friendly front desk person. Very beautiful hotel. Moderately priced. Pool. View of the Mediterranean from some rooms. Walking distance to the old Roman port. Close to numerous Roman and Greek ruins. Casesar, Marc Antony, Cleopatra all walked these streets. Hotel staff is friendly. Seda (day front desk lady) multilingual including English. Restaurant is great for breakfast but a little expensive for dinner. Walking distance to many restaurants. Take tram to New Park Beach for a wonderful day at the beach...no volleyball because small stones instead of sand.... more

The Dogan is located in the old city (Kaleici), with narrow streets all around climbing up and down the area near the marina. A cheap internet cafe, a cheap corner grocery are nearby, as are lots of restaurants. The rooms are spacious and very cool. The courtyard surrounds a small pool and seems a world apart from the streets. Breakfast is great, as are the staff. One of the neatest hotels we've ever stayed in.

We went on a last minute trip to Antalya and stayed at the old town of Kaleici. We found Dogan hotel through the web and was not disappointed the minute we arrived at the place. The hotel is one of those quaint boutique hotels with a lovely garden used as a dining area. They also have a small pool were guests can lounge around just enjoy the day. This was absolutely superb. Rooms, service, breakfast, location: we couldn't fault it. The gardens and pool are so relaxing, staff friendly and helpful, standards very high, location - in the heart of the old town, but within easy walking distance of the centre of Antalya and also the old harbour. We would stay again without hesitation.

The Kaleici district is inside the walls of ancient Antalya, 3 restored buildings in an area of restorations. A perfect location, a perfect hotel, terrific staff (helpful, kind, generous, humorous). Beautiful garden cafe, delicious breakfast and even better dinner. Walk everywhere, take tram to archeology museum, take a taxi to the hotel if coming from the airport. Not the easiest place to locate or access if driving your own car.
