In short - it was great, we'd go back. I had read the reviews on this site before we left and was only staying at the Sheraton as a 2nd choice. But we had a great time for the 8 nights we were there. Stayed here in September 05 for 7 nights as part of our honeymoon. We booked a sea facing chalet with jacuzzi and we were not disappointed. The room was of exceptionally high standard with the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. The resort itself is lovely - it is set into the rainforest with a few small beach coves which are beautiful and not at all crowded. My wife and I stayed for 8 nights at this resort in early April 06. We had a superb Sea Facing Jacuzzi room/bungalow. The room was of an excellent standard, with a large clean bathroom, and an extremely comfy bed. My only niggle with the room/bungalow was that they are of semi-detached type, and noise travels through the wooden structure (having noisy neighbours would be a problem). I stayed here with my family in early April and was a little nervous having read some mixed reviews. It was on balance a very pleasant experience. Our sea-view room was quite close to the facilities and only a five-minute walk so we did not have to bother waiting for a ride. The resort is beautiful, set along a series of small sandy coves (not really a beach) - in fact the whole place is green and lush. My partner & I stayed at the Sheraton Langkawi during the weekend and absolutely love the place. We arrived by flight from KL and took a hotel private car, the ride is less than 10 minutes. The recently refurbished lobby is cool and the view is breathtaking. Check-in process was a breeze eventhough we arrive before 3pm (check-in time), we were given our room. Stayed there at end of March...having stayed at Sheraton Perdana, I must say this hotel is a bit of a disappointment. Sure, if you are an average European tourist who likes to sit back and relax and not worry about mobility, then, this hotel is for you. We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Sheraton Langkawi was generally impressed. Our room was one of the renovated ones with a sea view, the size and decor were excellent, wooden floors, comfortable beds, good showers and a fantastic balcony. Compared to other beach hotels I have stayed in of a similar catagory in Bali and Phuket I rated the Sheraton very highly. The staff were always excellent and very friendly. The hotel restaurants were pricey compared to local ones but it is no more than you would expect staying a 4* resort.... more

Have been to Langkawi on many occasions, usually staying at the Sheraton Perdana. Decided to stay at the hotel as the Sheraton Perdana is having renovations. Was really disappointed, not a 5 star hotel by Asia's standards. The lobby has been renovated and the restaurants, as have many rooms. The problem being that you have to take a golf buggy to and from the lobby unless you like at 10 to 15 minute walk. The pool area was the most disappointing and this is due for a refurbishment soon. We went to the Sheraton in a group of three couples as a 4oth birthday treat for one of our friends. What a beautiful place! Having read reviews decrying the place for shabby rooms and an inadequate pool we were a bit worried but I have to say some people should get a life. Sure if you want to be mega-picky, it's not pristine but the setting is sublime, the staff without exception friendly and helpful, and the food is to die for.
