First of all, I am going to say that I wont be going to this hotel again as there are serious issues at management level, and we are currently setting the ball rolling to get compensation. We paid for two family rooms, a double room and a single. The reception staff... more

Do not go by the Star Ratings provided by the Hotel because the Turkish Hotel ratings do not have same value. When you choose a hotel, always read up on an independent review. Comments - Good facilities, decent choice of food available throughout the day and into the night... more

loved this hotel
Went to this resort between 12th-19th May. Ill start from beginning Onur Air very basic no tvs, very basic food not to everyones taste, landed at airport paid the £10 visa met by goldtrail rep told which coach to go on and off we set musnt of took more than 40 mins from getting off plane and setting off on coach. "hr drive to hotel but u do stop from refreshments. Arrived at hotel very helpful staff ,when we booked our holiday we wanted 2 bedroom but they were having problems booking them so we had to accept 2 twin rooms, when i explained this to reception no problem was their reply we can do that for you but it wont be ready till dinner time wee will put you in nice room until then. So off the bell boy takes us in the golf buggy its only the PENTHOUSE my two boys and husband thought this was fantastic it was gorgeous hot tub on veranda the lot but i was on on my hands and knees i really can't handle heights much to the amusement to my family. when it came to changing the rooms bellboys came collected our luggage took us back to reception where the kids told staff about mother being scared of heights and having a good laugh at me, the chap on reception thought this to was funny then said ill give give you ground floor. It was clean and big and just what we wanted. The hotel waas great the staff are great and are extremely helpful ,the food food was varied and plentiful, my boys loved the pool with slides(ages12 + 9) there is kids club for all ages and there was entertainment in the evening in theatre outside. We also went on a jeep safari which was fantastic, which I would recommend as it is for all ages,we booked this with the chap at the bottom of the hill adjoing the hotel, all in all this was a great hotel , very friendly staff, my only moan is and its nothing to do with the hotel as this was fantastic is on coach drive back to hotel you stop for 15 mins the prices were stupid £7.00 for 3 chocolate bars,1 packet of crisps and 2 cans of coke, but even worse weas antalya airport £4.00 cup of tea £12.00 for 1 burger king meal prices were sky high. Euros and sterling are used all over and this is obviously much preferred. This is just a basic review but i would recommend this hotel to anyone .
Great Value
My wife and I decided to go on a last minute deal and come across this over the internet, the total cost being just £250 each..... a bargain.... There are many negative reports on here with respect to Gold Trail (the tour operator), it is true that they are completely disorganised but as long as they pick you up and drop you off at the airport, this really does not matter. Would review the hotel as follows: Location: Not all that great. It is a fair distance from Alanya and there really is not anything within walking distance. Also, the hotel is perched on a 'steep' hill in 4 buildings, so anyone with walking difficulties may find this a problem. Room: The rooms are generously appointed and have a seperate bedroom and living area. The furniture stays with the theme of the rest of the hotel, it is all the same which is superficial grandness, a little over the top and would agree with what one trip advisor has put below as it being a little tacky. Cleanliness: Very clean and staff make every effort to keep all areas spotless Entertainment: Terrible!!! Lost for words really on this one...... Food/Restaurant: Restaurant does get very busy but generally food was good and waiters are very prompt on clearing your plates and supplying you with endless drinks. Also, there are self service snacks available all afternoon from the pool bar area. Pool area: There are 3 pool areas that are Ok but quite small. Never a problem getting a sunbed though, despite how busy the hotel was or what time of day it was. Towels are supplied but you have to pay 20 Euro's on arrival as a deposit that you get back on check out. Beach: Hotel has its own private beach that the hotel frequently runs a bus to. Staff: All generally very friendly despite being treated particularly badly by some of the Russian and German guests. A simple thank you goes a long way The hotel in most definitely not 5 star but if you are looking for a bargain break then go for it... I mean, you really can not complain for the price.
Detailed Review
We stayed at the Orient Palace Hotel from the 28/04/06 - 05/05/06. The flights were with Onur-Air and left on time from Manchester. The aircraft did not have any entertainment on-board but did have the tv monitors showing the in-flight safety. The meals on the flight were not the best ever. on the way out it was pasta with feta cheese and olives on the way in it was tagliatelli or some kind of pasta with green mush in it! Yummy!!!! Dessert was some kind of custard with coconut in it. On arrival at Antalya airport it took about an hour & half to pay for the visas, to get through immigration & for the bags to appear in the luggage hall. Regarding the visas they do accept a £20 note for two people as well. Outside we was met by the Goldtrail rep who advised us which coach to head for. It would appear that most people were on a goldtrail holiday and the rep seemed a little stressed. After about 30 mins we set off on the 2 hour transfer to Alanya with a stop off for the loo and refreshments on the way. Enroute you complete your hotel check in card so dont forget a pen in your handluggage. On arrival at the hotel, check in was very easy. You handed your completed card to the staff they handed you your card. The concierge staff then label your luggage with your room number and place an all inclusive bracelet on your wrist. You are then free to go to your room and your luggage follows a short time later. Due to the amount of people checking in (about 100) we decided to take our own luggage to the room. We did not like the room due it being a small twin room with very small bathroom. We really wanted a double room so I spoke to the reception staff and requested a change of room. They offered me a double in building number 4 at the top of the hill. We changed to this room with no charge and found it to be a very large room with a seperate kingsize bedroom, bathroom, living room with two chairs and sofa bed, dining area, and kitchen area. The view was fantastic over the sea. The hotel is situated on a steep hill with the main building being the lowest of four. To get to the top building it meant a steep climb but the staff would take you up in a golf buggy. The reception shares an open plan with the lobby bar and large seating area which includes pool tables and internet area. Through the lobby bar is the outside terrace with seating area and pool bar. The bars serve a range of all inclusive drinks including 'Efes' beer, vodka, gin and brandy. Whisky and other imported drinks are extra. The restaurant is situated on the first floor of the main building and covers the entire floor. The tables seat six people and it gets very busy very quick. Usually meaning you are sharing with another couple or family. Beware though if two people are sat on a table halfway through their meal the staff will ask you to move and share with another family so a family of six can sit down! The food is served buffet style and was definately aimed towards Eastern Europeans. The english breakfast was egg of the day & hot dog of the day. The cosmopolitan breakfast of breads, meats and cheeses took up the rest of the breakfast buffet. Fruit juices were 'Tang' cordial and not fresh. Evening meal usually consisted of fish, meat, chicken, pasta and other mixed dishes that we never really found out what they were. After 11.30pm they served soup of the night till about 00:30am. Next to the pool bar was one of two snack bars at the hotel. this served burgers, hot dogs, chicken kebabs, pizza n chips. There are four pools at the hotel all were warm enough to swim in. One large one beside the main building with an imitation of Pamukkale. This pool got very busy very quick. Other nationalities placing towels out before breakfast etc got on my nerves. The second pool is quite small with a small kids splash area attached. It has three waterslides that kinda just drop you from a height of three foot above the water. This pool also has a small snack bar next to it. The third pool is situated between building 3&4. It has limited sunbeds and is the quietest of them all. The fourth pool is indoors in the health centre which includes a small gym, and turkish bath which was quite expensive. Entertainment seems to have got better since the last reviews were posted. Not by much though. The evening shows were run by the in house entertainment team and since the 1st of May were done in the 'amphitheatre'. The shows included a Michael Jackson show & a Turkish evening show. Excursions available were, Jeep safari, Boat trip, manavgat river trip and quad bikes to name a few. The rep wanted £82 for two adults on the Boat trip and the Jeep Safari. As you leave the hotel towards the beach is an excursion place run by Emin Ersavas (next to the hairdressers) He loves the English and the price for both excursions including AI drinks on the boat trip was £56. Both trips were fantastic. The jeep safari was up into the mountains and then dinner next to the river (each table is over the river) then through forests and back to hotel. The boat trip was on a galleon with plenty of sunbeds. 4 stop offs for swimming and diving and BBQ lunch on the boat. On the way back we even saw dolphins swimming and jumping in front of the boat. Well worth visiting for excursions. The beach was about 30 mins walk away but the hotel do lay on a bus every 30 mins. Get there early though cos it does get packed very quick. There are plenty of sunbeds but the beach is very stony and shingley. The sea was rough most days but people did swim in it. At the beach is a bar and a snack bar, two tennis courts and beach volleyball. We paid £249 each for a week AI and think that we got a great deal. The hotel is more of a 4* and does attract large families due to the price. The hotel was over-run with badly behaved foreign children who would push into queues & press every button in the lifts before getting out (to the amusement of their parents). If its a quiet cheap break youre looking for then maybe this is not the hotel for you (unless your willing to sit at one pool for the entire break) We enjoyed ourselves but dont think we would go back.
We couldn't believe our luck!
Didn't really know what to expect from such a cheap all inclusive hotel. But really couldn't fault it. Hotel very clean and comfortable, nice pools and beach. Staff and service absolutely excellent and fantastic, fresh, varied and tasty food. We will definitely be going back. Hotel is on outskirts of the town, but the local bus takes 10 mins into town and only costs about 30 pence.
Great value for money
Superficially looks very grand but in fact is pretty tacky. Cleaning was good. Bar and dining room are vast open spaces and if you go for dinner before 8.30pm the noise is horrendous. Breakfast was very good, lunch exactly the same every day, gin & tonic ghastly but the beer OK. The beach isnt up to much, stony & shingly, but the standard of service there was excellent. As has been commented before, airport transfers were very protracted & disorganised. I wonder if the hotel wanted us all to not arrive before 7am and be out by 12 miday which left a few hours to kill. For £300 all inclusive for a single person in a large double room I really cant complain too much..... and the weather was fantastic.
Good Quality Holiday Hotel
I stayed with my wife and 8 year old Easter week. The main reason for booking was the low price. The Hotel is a five star and it seems to be well within the band of 5 star holiday hotels on the Turkish Riviera. Obviously not the Savoy but much better than three star Turkish Hotels which some previous reviewers have suggested it is. The Hotel is superbly well maintained and clean and tidy. We had our first night in a hotel room and then moved to a one bedroomed apartment in one of the three annexe blocks. Both were of a similar standard. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We were the third week of English speaking guests, and they were trying to converse as best they could. I am sure given three months they will have cracked it. There was always a porter to assist with luggage, waiters asking if you wanted drinks (All inclusive) and restaurant waiters keeping the tables tidy. The food was always buffet style. Dinner was a soup, plenty of choices of salads, about 5 different main dishes and 8 choices of dessert. Breakfast was the usual Turkish cold buffet plus fruit, cereals and a small hot sectiion with sausages, eggs tomatoes etc. For lunch there was the option of a restaurant buffet with lots of salads and 3 hot dishes + desserts. As an option there was a poolside grill serving hamburgers, hotdogs and chips from about noon to 4pm. The restaurant food was tasty and adequate in quality. The private beach was kept tidy by beach staff who found you sunbeds and sunshades etc and offered a waiter service of drinks. There was a (complementary) drinks service of soft drinks, hot drinks and beer and a grill serving sausages, hamburgers, potato wedges and salads. Take some flip flops because the beach is fine shingle and is sharp to walk on. There are 2 tennis courts and a beach volleyball pitch. We used the hourly courtesy bus on our first trip but walked other times which took about 15 mins and was through a small farm. The entertainment was poor from start to finish. At the beginning of the week at least it was quiet so you could enjoy a few drinks and chat but as the week went on they had a belly dancing competition, bingo and a talentless singing duo. They have an outside stage which they will use as the weather warms up and the hotel lounge will probably be better for this. The lounge has comfortable sofas and again a waiter service for drinks (All inclusive until midnight) In the Health Spa you can have free Saunas, Turkish baths and use of a poorly equipped gym. The treatments in the spa were competitively priced. The indoor pool is small but OK. The hotel also has Table tennis and Pool Tables. The outdoor swimming pools are unheated and so a bit cold for April but the kids loved the water slides. Most people reading this from the UK will be here as part of a Goldtrail Holidays Package. There is no local airport so the transfer is 80 miles or about 2 hours. However they are civilised enough to stop after an hour for a comfort break. Flights were with Onur Air and in both directions they departed 15 mins early and arrived 30 mins ahead of schedule. Antayla airport is very modern but refreshments are pricey. The Goldtrail rep was very mild mannered and not pushy to sell excursions. The excursions are twice as expensive compared to the agents 50 feet from the hotel gates where you can barter a good deal over a cup of tea!. So overall I think the Hotel was very good for the money. I would not go back because I have no desire to go back to Alanya which having seen once is not attractive enough to revisit. However I hope that my next holiday hotel is as good as the Orient Palace.
By no stretch of the imagination is this a 5* Hotel!
By no stretch of the imagination is a 5* hotel. It is more 3*. Rooms were spacious enough and clean but a little shabby around the edges, eg shower door broken, MDF peeling away in places. For fitness fanatics who wondered where all the obselete gym equipment went - wonder no more. Food achieved a standard all of its own - monotonous, same dishes could appear at lunch, dinner and even the next day. Could be described as barely okay. The hotel has just started taking British guests and the catering obviously still orientated towards German and Russian guests who appeared to enjoy the baked fish heads and the road accident dish described as turkey casserole. Disabled guests should think again before booking here. As a complex it is on a steep and too small site. This means to contemplate going down a disabled ramp means taking your life into your own hands! Also room around the pools very limited, sunbeds touching each other in rows. Hotel does offer guests golf cart rides to the upper levels, however the drivers appear to be failed formula one afficionados. Transfer by Gold Trail deserves special mention. Time between landing at airport & arriving hotel - approx 4 hours. Return journey from chaos in lobby to takeoff - 5 hours! This inc stop for coach drivers to enjoy free meal each way. Gold Trail organisational ability however better than hotel's ability to provide decent entertainment. This consisted of the children's entertainment team encouraging the audience to perform sexually explicit acts on stage whilst all the children were seated in the front rows! Classic! The reason we have classed this hotel as okay is twofold. Firstly staff were friendly and, secondly, we havn't stopped laughly since we got home. Also in fairness we were fortunate to meet lots of lovely fellow sufferers.
Clean, comfortable but a little remote.
I have just returned from a week's holiday at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it! The hotel itself is large, spacious and very clean. The rooms are also large, clean and comfortable. The food is plentiful, if not a little repetative. One of our party got food poisoning on the 2nd day and I was lucky in that I avoided eating a pice of chicken which was only partly cooked. We travelled with 2 teenagers and there was plenty for them to do with pool, internet access, a free bar(!) and a disco. There are 2 pools at the hotel but unfortunately as it was the begining of the season we didn't use then because it was too cold. There is a free shuttle bus to the beach (about 1km away) which is definitely worth visiting. The hotel has it's own part on the beach with sun loungers, a bar and snacks. The only complaints I would have are regarding the entertainment at night and remote location of the hotel. The entertainment is ad-hoc to say the least. One night there was bizarre mime act on (most people left that one), another night there was a belly dancing competetion and leather fashion show, another night was turkish dancing but the best night was a good old fashioned singing duo who sang songing for people to dance to. With regards to the location it is a little remote from the centre of town (about 5km away). It's easy enough to catch a bus there (approx 1 turkish lira (40p) each) but when walking back from the bus stop you have to walk past the gaunlet of turkish shopkeepers trying to entice you into their shops! There is a health club on site but the prices seemed a little expensive. We had a turkish bath (everyone HAS to try that!!!) but booked it through our rep and paid £10 less than the hotel wanted to charge. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes I would. Would I go again? Not sure - it would depend on the price!
Lovely Hotel, Rubbish Tour Operator
We have just arrived back from a weeks stay at the Orient Palace & found the hotel accomodation to be of a high standard, there was 6 of us in our party & we were given a 2 bedroomed apartment, which was really nice. The only problem with the room was that it was in the 4th block, which is up a really steep hill, I am currently 5 & half months pregnant & struggled with this, but if you ask at reception they'll take you up in a golf buggy!! The staff at the hotel were really friendly, but sometimes in the evenings the drinks were very slow to arrive if you sit in the lobby. The food was fine, but as with most all inclusive holidays, can become tiresome after a while. As per the previous review, the pool was freezing!!! All 3 were open when we arrived & I managed to get in once & it made my bones hurt! If you do want to swim in warm there is an indoor heated pool which our kids loved. As has been said, the evening entertainment, wasn't great, maybe it's because it's early in the season? This wasn't an issue for us as we'd chat to other guests & they kids made friends of their own. Overall we had a good holiday, but this was nothing to do with Goldtrail..... They're RUBBISH!!!!! Our tour rep, Kelly, was useless. She made no effort to speak to any of the guests, instead, she stood by the board looking petrifide! We booked 2 trips with Goldtrail & they were well below average. We were told that the transfer to the Manavgat Boat Tour would be 45 mins, it actually took 1 & half hours!! Not good when you have young children. We also went on the Turkish night, which again was poor, we asked 3 different people for drinks for our children & they finally arrived after about 35 minutes, again no good when you have children!! My top tip would definately be do not book trips with Goldtrail! As I said at the start, we had a good holiday because the hotel & staff were good & the food was fine.
Give it a try, but it is not 5*, and a little remote
My family and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Orient Palace Alanya. The good news is that the rooms are great, very clean and ours comfortably slept four and a cot. Very rare to find. The food is okay, lots of choice, although they do have too many brussels sprouts for our liking...maybe seasonal! Dinner is late for families with a 7.30 start, but we coped except for the baby. As it is the beginning of the season things are slow to get going, one pool was open but too cold to swim in. The day we left a second openned. The entertainment (a VERY loose term) was pathetic and rather unsuitable on occasions for the children. Humour based around penises.....and graphic. The hotel is 5kms outside of town which is easily reached by bus during the day. A taxi will cost under £5. We like to walk at night to a bar or restuarant, this is not possible from here. The hotel is a main block with 4 others. The main hotel was where we were and we would STRONGLY advise to be on either level 3 or 4. Ask Not to be in a room ending 01 as these are next to the lift shaft. Generally the hotel is not suitable for those with limited walking as rather hilly and uneven pathways. One couple we met had requested the penthouse...and got it!!! So this might be worth a try, although they are in the other buildings. Now Goldtrail Holidays.... Oh dear oh dear. We waited nearly 2 hours on arrival to Antalya on a bus without explaination. Getting to the hotel, with over 200 other holidaymakers meant check-in took a further 1 1/2 hours. We got to our room at 7.10, very tired indeed. We decided to get a taxi on the return £40 with haggeling. Antalya Airport is an experience, ! Euro needed to have a trolley, non retunable! On exit the food is VERY VERY expensive. £24 for 2 donners and 2 turkish pizzas, would cost maybe £8 in Alanya. We went with an open mind as we felt what we were paying was too little for what was promised. We have travelled to Turkey may times and had a good holiday, but we probably would have done so regardless of where we stayed. Be prepared for some surprises, but go and enjoy yourselves on the cheap!!
