Never again
from Pinklix1967
I was only in this hotel for one week but in that week we had absolutely no air conditioning, despite complaining to the rep on 4 different occasions, our bed sheets were never changed and did not fit the beds, and as for the towels, they disappeared slowly, and we were left with 2 smelly bath towels at the end of the week. We were also woken up most mornings about 4.30ish by the mosques praying or some inconsiderate person talking at the top of his voice after a night out. Whilst I appreciate we did not pay a lot for the holiday, the hotel and Goldtrail had rated it a 3 sun plus, I work in a three star hotel in the UK and have been to 3 star plus hotels in third world countries that are a whole lot better than this hotel. If you can change, you should.
liked the sungarden
from wandereredinburgh
we stayed at the sungarden for 2 weeks from 22/6/07 .we were asked for a 30 lira deposit when we arrived which is unusual for all inclusive. there are no snacks in between meals or ice cream for the kids.the hotel is 30 minute bus journey from alanya .first week we got chicken every meal but after complaints the food improved a lot and you got a choice. the management and staff were very friendly and hospitable at all times and listened to any complaints you made and did their best to amend them. the beach which is over a busy road is all shingle.but there are security guards on the gate who take you across the road. no entertainment for the adults and only a 15 minute mini disco for the kids. rooms were clean and we had towels and sheets changed 4 times in the fortnight. despite the problems we had a good time and can only say its not the hotels fault its the tour companies fault

For all you moaning - nothing better to do - morons, please wind you necks back in and lets have less of the criticism. Before I go into detail, to all the people that have recently returned and expressed negative comments on here then I’m afraid you only have yourselves to blame as there are plenty of unjustly comments on here that are pedantic enough to put anyone off– I’m glad I didn’t listen to the majority. We have just returned after staying a week at this hotel and I we found it to be a very pleasant experience. The air-conditioned bedrooms were very clean with the bedding changed every day. There was an array of food which varied from day to day. Chips were always on the menu which is ideal for children and there was a variety of hot and cold dishes and plenty of it. Everyday there were additional outside cooking stations with a BBQ which provided Pizza, Burgers among others. These stations were also used at breakfast where we enjoyed pancakes on a few occasions. Drinks wise, there was an outside bar situated right next to the pool which provided, fruit juices, mineral water, Coffee, tea, Hot chocolate, Coke, Fanta, Lemonade. Alcoholic drinks were provided throughout the day. They had one draught larger, Tuborg ABV 4.5% which is a reasonable strength, Red/White wine, Vodka, Gin, Whisky and Raki (A popular local spirit). The swimming pool was clean and the staff were very hard working, friendly, conscientious and efficient. People who say they are rude could not be further from the truth. There is a language barrier which people need to appreciate. I must say on occasions we both felt embarrassed to be British as there were many Brits making appalling remarks and gestures in earshot. I’d of liked to have seen them speak Turkish as well as the hotel staff were speaking English. There was a security man at the gate who endeavored to make sure you crossed the road safely to the beach. It’s a 3 Star hotel, not a 5 star and people need to realize this and make allowances accordingly. If you want better then dip further into your pockets. The center of Alanya is around 10 miles away and a regular bus service takes people to and from the centre for about 60 pence. Last bus is 11:30. It’s a vibrant city at night and well worth the visit during day and night. Aspects the Hotel could improve on :- -More Hotel Staff at check-in (50 + tired holiday makers at 5am and 1 person on reception do not go well together - More sun beds around pool -Desserts were mediocre and repetitive -Air conditioning in our room was Substandard. For people New to turkey like we were then these tips may be of benefit:- Always haggle for whatever you want to buy, its their way of life and they don’t expect people to pay the asking price. It’s a hot spot for Fake/Counterfeit goods. You can really pick up some good quality bargains but just be aware that there’s a possibility of a luggage check at arrival back in the UK. We flew from Antalya to Manchester and on arrival the people in front of us and directly behind us got their bags checked for Counterfeit goods. All in all a good experience.
go carlos
from thecucumberman
we love you carlos the cucumber man( the entertainer) who was the only good thing bout the hotel. if your a kid aged between 2 - 8 you would love the entertainment. if your also a fan of wild animals try the food because the veals lush. dont use the womans toilets in the hotel because as found out by one person we wont mention (danielle from devon!!!) you could get locked in. the day trips were the only good thing on offer . if you go down to the beach be aware of the pebbles as they get extremely hot. there was a lack of sunloungers for amount of guests.

To the point!! Problems we/and many others had! 1. I shared the room with wee bro, we were supposed to be beside r mum and dad but instead they placed us on the 5th floor + r parents on the 2nd!! 2. The food is crap u have a choice everynyt 4dinner between chicken, rice or chips!!, breakfast was the best meal of the day as u could av fried eggs etc, but if u wanted a fry u had to pay 4it, lunch was again chips or rice!! all the food is cold including ur chips everyday! 3. There wasnt enough sunbeds 4 the amount of ppl there, it was far to crowded. if you have booked this holiday u can still make it a little enjoyable bring extra money for food and drink as all the drink after 2300 is not free also u av to pay for drinks lyk cocktails the only alcohol to choose from tht is free is there vodka(disgusting), raki, and gin!! You Get What You Pay For
from Smiler175UK-Durham
I booked a cheap holiday (£200) 3 weeks before we traveled and we got what we paid for and then some. The hotel was basic, the food was plentiful and the staff were great. We had clean beds, the pool was clean and the towels were changed regularly. We never had an upset tummy once. The hotel had been closed for 3 years and had never catered to English previously so the staff have been on a very steep learning curve but hey... they could not do enough for you as they were learning by the day. There was a cockroach problem but the day before we arrived, they fumigated the whole hotel and we saw only one during our stay and we spent a majority of the time within the hotel. If there was a problem or issue with anything, they acted on it within 24 hours which I feel is excellent service. If you want a plush hotel with all mod cons then book a 5 star one. If you want a cheap holiday with good food and a clean bed etc then go for this. Just be realistic with your expectations and you will not be disappointed. Everyone has been quick to complain but that's too easy, there are more good points then bad unless of course you expect 5 star treatment for £200 then you are only deluding yourself. We had a very relaxed week and would like to thank the staff for looking after us, we appreciated it. And also, a great big thanks to some of the characters we met whilst there.... you know who you are!!!!!! We had a laugh. I recommend this for adults without young children.
Absolutly Terrible
from lallyMaragte
If you are thinking of going to the sun gardens in Alanya please think again. From the moment we arrived (We had to queue for about 1 hour just to check in ! ) until the moment we left it was an experience I would never want to repeat. You have to pay a deposit on arrival to the hotel against breakages, I've never had to do this before, and there's nothing in the hotel rooms worth breaking ! I felt this is an insult, but it probably sums up the clientel who would enjoy thier stay here. We though we had booked an apartment, but We were told we'd looked at the wrong website, and there were no apartments. instead we had a small double room. Towels not changed until we kicked up a fuss on our second to last day, We had sheets changed once, just as well because we only had half a sheet for the first couple of days. then only a bottom sheet, no top sheet provided. All the drinks are served in plastic tumblers, which are grubby as they collect dirt around the rough edges. Very unheigenic, and not very pleasant experience as everything tastes of plastic. The all inclusive concept at the hotel is unique to the hotel, it's certainly not all inclusive. you have buffet meals at set times fine if you like queing for your food, just like school dinners. You can have as much beer as you like, or nasty wine, or soft drinks. You can only get 2 drinks at a time from the bar, so if you are a group you are stuffed. The food was truly awful, Unlike the lady in the previous review who seemed to have a pretty good choice, We had omletes for breakfast twice, lunch was salad & cold meat (Same as breakfast) with normally 2 hot meat dishes which would run out pretty quickly. Then evening meal we had hotplate outdoors twice, otherwise same as lunch. Chicken every day, although we were told by another holiday maker later sometimes it was Veal some of the time, which i would not choose to eat. It would have been nice to know exactly what we were eating, as you couldn't tell by the taste. We ended up eating out as we could not face repetitous tastless menu any more. the local restaurant was pretty busy with people from the hotel. All on all inclusive packages. Which in itself tells a story. The swimming pool (not the one shown on the website) was full of kids throwing water everywhere. very few sunbeds, We sat away from the pool area on the sun deck just to get some peace, It was HOT & not particularly pleasant, as there was no way of cooling off . The beach was across the dual carriageway, but not a very good beach. Very rocky, with gravel. the sea dips sharply away from the beach, not good for non-swimmers. We did make our feelings clear to the rep, but although she wrote out a complaint form for us, She was totally uninterested in our views, and constantly defended the hotel. She actually lived at the Hotel and was very friendly with the staff. we think perhaps she should live off site. She seemed surpised we were not happy, as She said no body else had complained. We were shocked as everybody We spoke to had complained about someting or other, As it turns out, if you did not complain officially and get her to fill out a form it is only classed as a enquiry, not a complaint. Glad to be home !!
Hated the Sungarden, Alanya
from environmentalEngland
Got back from sungarden hotel, Alanya. 22/6/07 If you have already booked ask your travel agent to change you to a different hotel. TERRIBLE PLACE!! the holiday Rep was not interested in any complaints. Went all inclusive and spent £200 on eating out due to the food & drink being totally unacceptable. The hotel lift was dangerous, no inner door so serious risk of entrapment. definately not a child friendly place. I will never go back again or book a holiday through Goldtrail
in support of sun garden

We that is my partner and iwent to sun gardens on the 15 june. we paid 250 pounds each all inclucive .So we were not expecting the red carpet treatment. we were met by the gold travel rep Angie on our arrival ,who turned out to be the mother of all mothers ,for many on there hols. Our room was clean ( i took photos). the beds even had fresh flower pettles arranged on them. the bedding was changed three times in our one week stay.We had clean towels each day,but we had took are own just in case. the food, breakfast included ceareals boiled eggs soft or hard ,ommlettes made on demand, cheese cold meat fresh bread. not forgetting tomatoes olives ect.You will not get bacon and sausage in a muslim country. The dinners were an array of well presented turkish foods ,stuffed olives egg plant ,chillies .salads a plenty. they were presented each day along with chicken dishes lamb , paster rice ect. evening meals much the same . The staff were young friendly and fun.You did have to cross a busy road to get to the beach but you were escorted to and from the beach by the security guy. If you wanted to go clubing you were escorted including free travel by Carlos who made sure you were looked after and got home safe if not a little merry an important mesure for the younger people at the hotel .There was a small market in the htel along with a photo shoot guy that took some pretty good must have photos .the day we were leaving they were opening a hairdressers. We enjoyed our stay at sun gardens but to be honest we spent most of are days enjoying alanya. white water rafting ect.In the evenings there seemed to be a very friendly atmosphere all round . I would not recomend this hotel for familys with young children ,the balconies were to low.But for people like my self who want a base to stay at the price so low how can you knock it. please excuse the spellings im not an English teacher.
