Submitted By: tramshunterThe restaurant is spacious which enforces a no shorts or vests rule for men at evening meal(shorts below the knees are acceptable) Staff not very happy friendly (unless you speak Spanish ).If you time it wrong its like feeding time at the zoo, most of the food is good always something you can survive on if you are fussy eaters as we are, we did fine you can go back and get as much as want ,pancakes are fabulous.
Always seemed to be sunbeds available even though people got up early and put towels on sunbeds before going in for breakfast, well organised activities for kids during the day.
Evening entetainment by staff was shocking ,mimeing to cd,s was poor but lots of bars within 5 minutes walk to get live entertainment, fabulous views across the road towards Fuetaventura
All in all not bad realy We would go back and would recommend to anyone who wants a queit base /resort.
Advice: Quiet . Smashing views
Activities: Seafront bars
Good for: Beach
" Lovely Hotel & Resort "
Submitted By: Miss S HitchenIf you were being picky, the hotel could probably do with a bit of an update in a couple of areas but generally speaking it is very spacious and clean with efficient staff and an excellant position within the resort.
We were really chuffed with our room which had a pool view, balcony, sitting area and ensuite - with a bath! Extremely spacious, nicely furnished and excellant daily maid service. I think that we probably got lucky and landed a family room but either way, it was probably one of the best hotel rooms we have stayed in for quite some time.
A couple of areas where the Lanzarote Princess could defo improve is with the evening entertainment and the evening meals. We were half board at the hotel and although breakfast was nice, dinner was a bit of a strange mix most nights. Possibly down to the sheer number of people and trying to cater for varying tastes.... did note some vegetarians tucking into a plate of mash potato with chips one evening due to the lack of variety though!
The evening entertainment is just dire unfortunately. They started fairly well with an Abba tribute band but it went badly down hill with Grease Night. Anyone who was there would smile knowingly at this bit! Needless to say the room emptied fairly quickly and the entertainers in question kept their heads down the following day! Hey Ho!
Good job that Playa Blanca is such a lovely resort with enough to keep you busy all day and into the evenings! Its probably not for the young, funky brigade but it is ideal for couples and families. Extremely pretty resort split into two areas, namely the Old Town and Marina Rubicon. Lanzarote Princess is over the road from the middle of the costal walkway that connects the two areas, probably a 2 mile walk from one end to the other but well worth it. The walkway is also lined with small shops for mooching purposes!! Playa Blanca beach is literally over the road and down a slight hill - less than 5 minutes walk.
If you get chance to hire a car, its definately worth travelling around the island. There are two sets of caves on the north east of the island. Jameos Del Agua is the one that is advertised the most but less than a kilometer up the road, is another set of caves which are just fantastic. Worth a visit more so than Jameos but there is a fair amount of walking and steps involved. We are defo not the fittest but we got round ok and enjoyed it!
Also worth mentioning is the National Park, Papagayo Beach and the markets at Marina Rubicon and Teguise. Teguise is well worth a visit whether the market is on or not - lovely village.
The island is really easy to navigate around but wouldn't think that you would need any more than 4 days to discover the whole island!
On a whole, had a good holiday, nice hotel and fond memories!
Advice: Very pretty resort ideal for couples and families. Beautiful beach
Activities: Teguise and Caves

" Lanzarote Princess "
Submitted By: bigboykssWe have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Lanzarote Princess our review covers the resort, hotel accomodation, service from staff and quality of food.
Resort - Playa Blanca
The resort caters for both families and couples and has a wide range of bars, resturants etc. In particular if you enjoy walking around during the day the prominade is great and goes on for miles. This resort can be either lively or peaceful depending upon what you are looking for. Overall we rate the resort as excellant.
Hotel Accomodation.
The hotel is starting to show it's age in comparison to others such as the adjacent 'Yaiser' hotel. However the hotel is well maintained, clean and the rooms are considerably spacious and well decorated. The swimming pool is split into two with one half heated and the other isn't. Our children loved the pool. Bar's were located in easy reach of sun beads as were the toilets (and those who have young kids will understand how essential this is).
Service from Staff
The staff were fantastic, extremely helpful and pleasent. The last few holidays we have been on have been 'all inclusive' and we definately think the service suffers because of this. Half board may cost slightly more, but you pay for what you get and it's worth it.
And finally Food
The food was absolutely fantastic, they cater for everything and in particular we noticed the food hygiene standards were impecible. You can choose from a range of sea foods such as king prawns (not the tiny things you get back in england), muscles, salmon etc. In terms of meats you have a choice of freshly cooked chicken breasts, fillet steaks, veal etc. Also they have plenty of salads to choose from if your after something light. Breakfasts were great with freshly made pancakes while you wait (the kids loved these) and full english fried breakfasts. I can't strees how good the food is at this hotel (we would actually rate this as 5star).
We would definately come back to this hotel as it was fantastic and one of the better hotels in the resort.

" great family holiday "
Submitted By: helenknight7However the 1st time having gone with 2 children in tow, 10 months and 2 years.
Having read the other reviews, many are right that the princess decor is looking a little tired, however the staff so make up for it. They are friendly courtous and love the children! Shame some of the older guests are not so relaxed!
Though the hotel offer a kids club and is very child friendly, there were alot of more mature guests, some of whom seemed to think that children do not deserve holidays, and to have fun.
that aside, we had a fantastic holiday, the rooms are very spacious for a family of 4, very clean, with fresh towels everyday. The cot and camp bed were clean and of good quality.
The pool area is lovely, with a seperate heated kids pool. We didnt use the kids club as more for older kids, but staff friendly and the mini disco a winner.
Playa Blanca in just lovely, flat, lovely beaches, lovely place to sit and drink and eat. Great holiday resort. The Princess is in a perfect location, central to the modern harbour and old town.
We did notice how very expensive it was in resort and drinks in the hotel. Note for parents, take everything with you, baby food, nappies, wipes are a rip off!!
You will need some more euros these days!
Over all the princess is a lovely hotel, which you would find hard to fault, we will definatley go back in years to come when we need a playa blanca fix!!!
Advice: fanastic resort!
Activities: Lani's, new marina

Submitted By: Mrs D RichterOn arrival we felt a little disappointed as the decor is in need of updating. Although we're not high flyers, we expected more from the four star hotel.
Having said this, during our week there we were hard pressed to find a thing wrong with this hotel! It was fabulous.
We had breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant daily....a mountain of well prepared and beautifully presented food, which fed so many people, with precision that we wondered every evening how they managed it! They did themed evenings, where they would try to offer food from a particular country and the waiters dressed in the approriate dress etc, which made it pleasant. We LOVED the spanish night, which had mounds of seafood...large prawns, paella, squid, etc.
Most nights, we had a coffee after dinner in the piano bar which had a vibey duo playing a range of music on the piano, keyboard and sax.
Staff all round, were courteous and pleasant.
The pools were lovely, several of them centred around a thatched bar area. The baby and I often sat under the thatch to have a drink and some crisps, while watching the boys and dad playing in the pools.
They have an extensive entertainment programme for both adults and children. Starts from age four, so we never made us of it. We tended to walk down to the beach (a block from the hotel) in the mornings, and then use the pool, tennis courts and mini golf on site in the afternoons. You pay a small fee to use the tennis courts and mini golf, however the table tennis and any activities laid on by the hotel are all free. We did enjoy a game of bingo at the pool restaurant one afternoon! We also went to one evenings entertainment (a Kenyan gymnastic type group) which was well supported and fun!
Everything runs like clockwork...you don't have to ask twice for anything....and whilst the staff are not gushy or pushy, they are polite and competent.
Playa Blanca itself is gorgeous. More upmarket we felt that Peurto del Carmen, and certainly quieter, though very quaint, and still has a vibe. The walk along the seafront is wonderful....we enjoyed many lunches at a little restaurant right on the marina, just down from the Nettos shop....in the newer part of Playa Blanca. Cannot recall the name (but staff wear yellow and blue!)...boys loved it, as they give you bread to throw to the fish from the balcony where you sit. Food was always great and it was cheap.
Boys went for rides on the jetskis and enjoyed scuba diving along the rocks. There was always enough space to put your towel down on the beach (or rent deck beds if you'd rather). A variety of snack bars and restaurants all along the beach provide food for hungry boys!!
All in all we loved Lanzarote and can't wait to go back there!
Would recommend this hotel to any family!

Submitted By: Mrs H McCannWe had a family room on the ground floor over looking the pool. We were expecting some beasties to invade the room being on the ground floor, but didn't see sight nor sound of any. The room was fine, kept clean and tidy as you would expect.
The food was great. For breakfast there's the usual cereals, breads, cheeses, cakes, fruit, english breakfast, cava..etc. What I did like was being able to watch the chefs make the croissants, doughnuts, eggs, pancakes..etc. Also you were able to ask them to make you an omlette and they make it infront of you.
Dinner was a similar experience in that the chefs made certain things in front of you. There's the usual hot plate and also a children's buffet (which did have chips and beans on each night, but there was a range of other food, and of course, you could also get a range of salads, etc from the adults buffet.) We didn't have a bad experience at dinner, but we were there at 7.00pm (as soon as it opened) due to having a 2yr old.
The pool was lovely and we were in the pool everyday. I must admit, we also saw the grease on the baby pool, but as soon as the pool attendant was notified or saw it himself, he removed it from it. We were mainly in the larger pools though.
They also have a couple of playgrounds on site. There's one for the under 3's with a baby swing (which our 2 yr old was able to go in), a slide, some trikes and a little car. There's also a little plastic house which all the kids seemed to love. For the older kids, on a sanded area, there's some swings and a big activity thing which comprises of 2 slides which you tend to see on parks (hope you know what I mean there!) These are both as much in the shade as possible (they are underneath trees.)
The animation team made the holiday for us though. They were absolutely excellent and had a range of activities for each of the 2 kids clubs (mini 4-12 and maxi 8-16) ranging in events such as waterpolo, football, basketball, table tennis comps, mini golf, french boules and so much more.) There's also activities for grown ups if you want to participate... archery, shooting, football, water polo, the cocktail game, bingo (mixey shakey... oh sugar, ole...etc) aeorbics, water aerobics and salsa dancing to name but a few. You didn't have to participate and once you said "no" they didn't hassle you to join in. Lioni, Jade, Debs, Will, Lucia, Rob, Mary were all superstars - goodness knows how they do it from day to day. Activities start at 10:30 until about 4ish... then resume at 8:30 with the mini disco, certificate presentation and sometimes entertainment.
Playa Dorada beach is just 300m away (basically across the road and down a small hill) where hire of 2 sunbeds and a parasol is 7.50E. This is a lovely beach - the kids had a great time. The village is 250m away so in a nutshell, the location of the hotel is just perfect.
If you're a young couple who like a decent nightlife, then choose somewhere different to playa blanca. This is a place which is more for families or people who don't want a busy night scene (it's a quiet place!)
We hope to go back next year as we did have a terrific time.

Submitted By: Mrs J SearleThe rooms are very spacious and there is a little lounge space. The rooms are cleanish, maids only Tidy your rooms daily. We were put at the back of the hotel on the ground floor and the maids had a habit of leaving the patios doors unlocked after they left the rooms.
All the staff are friendly only a few cannot speak english very well. The food was great and the lady who cooked the eggs, omelettes and fresh pastries every morning did a fanastic job. The kiddies pool was not very clean, everyday there was a grease slick floating on one side of the pool, (sun lotion and hair).
It is not cheap in playa blanca there is not much competition , quite frankly its a rip off. I needed a few nappies for my baby it was 10 euros for 16 nappies and the local makes are not any cheaper,
Beer is 2.80 to 2.50 a pint and a bag of crisps 1.50 a bag, 1.90 for a bottle of water. We only ate out once, meals are on par with england. Best deals are with the chinese restaurants and there is a fantastic indian in town.
I will not be going back to the princess again try cay sun beach around the corner. We went in june 07, it is four star self catering with the choice of half board. Lovely rooms, very well maintained very, very friendly english speaking staff. My choice is Sun beach book with direct holidays.

Submitted By: Mrs J GillanWe are in our late 30's and were pleased to find the hotel populated with silvertops and young families. Very few tattoos or football shirts were in sight and there were no noisy groups spoiling the relaxed atmosphere. When we were there the guests were mainly British with some Germans and a few French/Spanish/Dutch. We didn't notice any nationality getting preferential treatment from the staff over any other.
Faded splendour would be a suitable description of the hotel. The public areas are spacious and bright but could do with some modernisation. Lots of marble -fine. The dark teak and gaudy gold accents need to go. In fact, the handrails on the marble staircases felt as though they could go at any time without much help! The pool area is lovely and the gardens are well tended. Lots of free sunloungers.
Our room was one which had been refurbished. It was bright and roomy and came with a tv set, two large wardrobes, dressing table, enormous mirror, sofa, beds and cabinets. The standard lamp, telephone and one of the beds were broken but these were fixed quite quickly. The bathroom was pretty grim - only the stubborn understains were holding the bath together! The refurbishment seems to have involved ripping out the teak and replacing it with limed oak furniture and an odd little fence cutting the room in two. Fresh paint and a new shower curtain (when was the last time you saw one of those?) and Bob's your Uncle. Sounds worse than it actually was. The maid service was daily and the place kept spotlessly clean (the bath was simply beyond help).
We didn't take part in the daytime activities but they're there if you want them. In the evenings there's the piano bar or the nightly show. Some of the shows were hilarious but one was terrible, you just need to take the good with the bad. There is a mini disco for children and they seem to be well catered for.
The hotel is well located. Some of the newer ones which we saw during our transfer journey are in the middle of nowhere. The weather was overcast a couple of days and there was an almost permanent wind - sometimes so strong it blew loungers away but generally welcome while the sun was shining.
Speaking of sun, watch out for the suncare advisor who arrives at welcome meetings and several times during the week armed with a credit card machine to offer his free services. We were asked what sun creams we had brought and were then told that they were no good. SPF25 apparently is a total sun block (yet I got a nice tan using this for the first couple of days). He happened to have some products with him... He also advised that he should be consulted in preference to a doctor in the event of sunburn/prickly heat/other skin complaints as doctors charge E100 and prescribe inappropriate treatment! The stuff he was selling may have been fantastic but we didn't hang around to find out.
All in all we had a lovely week and would return with our children without hesitation.

Pool area was lovely, pool can get dirty but it’s mainly just the leaves or flowers from the trees around the pool. We stayed in one of the new refurbished rooms and they were so modern with a 20 inch plasma tv that you can watch free of charge. I would try to get one of the end rooms as they seem to have massive balconies with your own sun loungers rather than just a table and chairs.
would recommend this hotel to anyone from families with young children as they do so much to keep them occupied, to the elderly, or young couples if you are not overly interested the nightclub scene.
