We booked our hotel through a website on the internet and were more than satisfied with our stay. The hotel was magnificent, with a perfect location and exemplary staff. Our room had its own pool and I couldnt have imagined anywhere better to spend my first holiday away... more

Wow! Best hotel ever!
from notts98
We stayed in the Sala for 2 nights at the end of our holiday as a treat and it definitely was that! The hotel is amazing! We had a Sala Pool Villa - own pool, outside bathroom which was beautiful and a day bed. The rooms are spotless and the bathroom is like nothing you have seen. I have noticed on a previous review that the lap pool has had some work done. This was complete by the time we arrived, and I can understand why the previous review was a little disappointed at not being able to use it as it is fantastic. You look out of the pool accross to the blue sea and almost feel there is nothing inbetween. The staff could not be more helpful, and you cannot even put your own towel on your sunbed as it would be considered too hard work! They are attentive without being annoying though! The food in the hotel is second to none, but be prepared to pay for it! Average prices are at least 3 times more than in the rest of Koh Samui, but you cannot expect anything different from such a hotel. You do not need to eat in the hotel as the beach bars and restaurants minutes away along the beach where the food is delicious. Cheong Mon beach is fabulous. Lovely and quiet and a real gettaway from it all! If you want more life it is only a 10-min taxi to the busy resort of Chewang which also has some lovely restaurants on the beach. The Fishermans Village at Bophut is only 10-15mins away in taxi and is a middle ground on the lively front. Again some lovely bars on restaurants to be found. Generally the resort is gorgeous and this hotel is just amazing. I would highly recommend!
Best Hotel We've Ever Stayed In
from KillickBoston
We stayed at Sala Samui Resort & Spa in August 2005 for our honeymoon (we're a bit slow posting our review). We've both travelled quite a bit, and this was the best hotel either of us have ever stayed at, and we HIGHLY recommend it for honeymooners. We stayed in a Sala Pool Villa which was amazing. Each Sala Pool Villa has a private court yard with a day bed and plunge pool. Upon check-in we were escorted to our room and as a honeymoon gift, Sala gave us a bowl of fruit, a dozen roses and a bottle of champagne. The staff and service was exceptional, right down to the beach conceirges who were attentive to our every need. The beach is very nice, but do travel around the island to see other beaches, like Chaweng Beach. The restaurant at Sala is also good; their breakfast is amazing, it seems they are able to make you any breakfast food you could want. I got my nails done at the spa and had a free 10-minute massage on the beach; both were exceptional. Everything about the resort was just perfect; their attention to detail is incredible. Look at the pictures on the hotel website - they do not lie! The two outdoor pools (we are not pool people, but we swam a lot in these beautiful pools), the grounds, the restaurant, the cleanliness -- it's definitely unsurpassed in our experience. We don't have anything bad to say about Sala Samui and would go back there in a heartbeat!
Fantastic at Sala Samui

We went together with another couple with kid and we are a group of eight with 4 adutls and 4 children (all under 10) to spend our Chinese New Year holiday in Koh Samui on January 2006. We booked a 2 Bedroom Presidental Suite at Sala Samui and it is fantastic ! The resort is magnificent and we have enjoyed such incredible stay in this resort. The facilities and resort looked exactly as in their website and it is new. The breakfast is with many variety and fruit is fresh, both oriental and western ! The private pool in the suite is clean and lovely, though the rate is expensive but fabulous with what has been offered. The bathroom setting is wonderful with outdoor shower, toilet and huge bathtub accommodate 1 adults and 3 children.... Restaurant facing the sea is great. Overal this is so far the best hotel we have ever stayed in our holiday as my husband is quite fussy ! Very relax resort and highly recommended to couples. We did enjoy the stay even with children as they love the private pool !
Luxury at the Sala Samui
from Lisa Emery
I used this site in deciding to book the Sala Samui so thought it only fair that I added a review. The hotel was excellent - we stayed in a deluxe balcony room and I have to say that the outdoor bathroom and the daybed on the balcony were a huge hit. Having a lovely shower after a hot day, then curling up on the day bed was pure luxury! We used the pool/beach area quite a bit - the pool is lovely and never got crowded. We only ate once at the hotel, and the food was very good. Although pricier than the various restaurants nearby, it still represented great value for money. The setting of the hotel is excellent if you are looking for a relaxing holiday - the beach here is much less crowded than Chaweng, and still has a nice selection of bars and places to eat. Personally I think the hotel is ideally situated, and you can always get a taxi to Chaweng if you fancy a more lively night out. Several of the beach bars offer excellent Thai dishes at a great price and at night the beach is lovely to lounge on with a beer. Sunset tip - go to the BBC bar (about 5 mins from the hotel) for a wonderful sunset view and good food. Highly recommended!
paradise on Samui
from A TripAdvisor Member
What a fantastic hotel- I would recommend this place to anyone expecting a 5* hotel with 5* service. We stayed in the deluxe balcony room which was spacious and comfortable for two frineds (not a couple) and enjoyed sunshine days by the pool which was beautiful and never crowded. Having visited Chaweng- which can only be described as Thailands answer to Blackpool- we were relieved that we had chosen this resort over many others advertised on the Island. Like previous reports, we found the spa was quite pricy compared to the massages that can be found across the country and on the beach, but definetly worth it for a special occasion. The hotel restaraunt was also good although I found a better choice of seafood in Fishermans village- only a 300 Baht taxi ride away. Top tip in the bar- the water melon and 'bango' fruit juices are to die for!

I`ll keep this brief. If your looking at reviews for this site, your possibly considering going there. DO IT, you wont regret it. Fantastic sala pool villa, very clean and private. Lovely friendly staff. Idylic location. Great resturant. Wonderful beach and views. Just 10 minutes and a couple of pounds to busy Chaweng if you want a bit of night life. WILL BE GOING AGAIN !!!!! Enjoy.
Paradise.....

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by friendly staff, a dozen roses and shown quickly to our pool room villa. The suite was gorgeous.....rose petals on the bed and in the bath. Very romantic. The room was very well appointed with a good home cinema system, dvd and tv (take your own sounds with you....), air con, fridge and most importantly a lovely pool and relaxing day bed and sun bed area, which was very private. The restaurant was excellent and in comparison to uk prices very reasonable and to a high standard. Room service was also good. The only down side was that the bar area closed at 10.30pm, so anyone looking for a late night needs to go off into nearby Chaweng. We went into Chaweng for eating and shopping (only cost about £3 for a taxi)and to see thai boxing. Did an island tour with the hotel - well worth it - air con mini bus and your own driver, and to go and see around the island. Would recommend you to do the trip. Lovely hotel.
Heaven on earth

My husband and I stayed at the Sala Samui for 10 nights in late September. We have been to some pretty nice places before but this one took the cake. If you are considering a romantic and relaxing holiday in Thailand then I can highly recommend it as a place to stay. On our first night we were upgraded to the presidential suite. The presidential suite is amazing and if you were planning to go to the Sala with another couple then you could easily both stay in this villa and I think it might work our cheaper than having your own rooms. There are two bedrooms and each bedroom has its own huge bathroom. There is also a central living / kitchen area and, of course, the huge swimming pool. The rest of the time we stayed in a Sala Pool Villa. It would be very easy to stay in the villa the whole time and never leave as the restaurant will deliver any food item on the menu to your room and the day spa will also provide certain treatments in your room too. Having your own pool was such a wonderful experience. A lot of people have commented on the prices of the hotel food. Yes, it is expensive compared to the other restaurants along the beach but it is quite reasonable compared with Australian prices and the food it second to none. We ate there for lunch and dinner most nights. We did go to a restaurant on the beach called "Bongoes" a few times and found that it was a great place to go if you were looking for somewhere a bit cheaper. I must say that I wasn't overly impresed with the Mandara spa. The treatments were nice and it is nice to do something like that when you are on holidays but I have had better and for the price you pay I don't think it was worth it. I can recommend the beach massage ladies (facing the beach from the hotel, just off to the left next to the pool). They were so cheap (200 baht for one hour) and gave a much better massage than the Day Spa did. Our holiday at the Sala Samui was the best holiday we have ever had and we are really keen to go back just as soon as we can!
Sala is sweet

Spent 6 nights at the Sala Samui recently for our honeymoon. We discovered Sala using this site and once again Trip Advisor pays off huge. My wife is extremely picky about the quality of our accomodations and even she was "wow'd" by the Sala. We loved pretty much everything about the Sala once we got past the access roads, which were in horrible shape. Imagine our relief upon arrival when we finally arrived at our wonderful pool villa. The one bedroom villa was wonderfully appointed and private with the highlights being the outdoor bathroom and the day bed near our private pool. Everything at the Sala is first rate....the rooms, the two infiniti pools, the sun loungers, etc. Additionally, the staff are extremely friendly and professional. Loved the "sawadee ka or krup" greeting along with clasped hands and a slight bow. Even the guards and landscaping staff would greet us in this manner. We found ourselves responding in kind after a while. It was basically a spa vacation as we got into the habit of eating and lounging until about 1 and then getting a wonderful one hour Thai massage by the ladies on the beach for 250 bhat each...total of about $15 US with tip. And what great massages there were. We also loved the food at the nearby beach restaurants....such good food for so little money. Otto's had the best Thai food of all of them. We also enjoyed dinner in Chaweng (Rice and Stars was good) and we also had a wonderful gourmet meal at the sister resort Sila Evason(owned by the same person apparently). It's conveniently close and it was easily the best meal of our stay. We also did dinner in the pool at the Sala which was a unique dining experience. We saw only one small child at the Sala. It's basically a romantic destination and in that regard it succeeded beyond even our highest expectations. The resort is well located in a quiet, but not dead section of Samui. We really liked the serenity of this beach, even though the water color was not as good as we have seen (in Cancun for instance). We enjoyed the hustle and bustle of downtown Chaweng and spent several nights shopping for designer bags, suits and other stuff. We actually had better success here than later on in Bangkok. The internet cafe was nice. We did do Mr. Ung's full day safari. They picked us up at 8:30 and the day consisted of Grandpa/Grandma rocks in Lamai, Elephant show and trekking (very much a highlight), hour wheel drive up the mountain (it was raining a bit so it was quite a journey up some very muddy and roads), lunch at a mountain top restaurant and then on to Big Buddha. Not a bad tour, but would probably just check out gpa and gma rocks and the elephant trekking on our own if we had it to do over again. Weather was good considering the time of year. We had 4 sunny days out of 6. The one day it rained all day, we used the day bed to read so we could at least be outside. We also went to Ban Sabia, a nearby spa, for our daily massage since the beach ladies were not available. Overall, it was our best vacation ever together and a huge part of that was Sala Samui.
Exquisite Tropical Paradise
from Tartan69
By far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Impeccable service, spotless rooms & grounds, 2 beautiful swimming pools and a perfect location. We stayed in a Garden Villa with pool which seemed a lot more private than the Sala Pool villas and also cheaper. The room was the most incredible room I have ever seen with a beautiful outdoor bathroom. There's a DVD player in each room with free DVD rental at reception. The breakfast buffet is also amazing with a stunning selection of food. The beach is kept clean and free of sellers although you can walk further up the beach if you want to buy sarongs etc. It's only 10 mins by taxi to Chaweng for the nightlife although there are some great restaurants along the beach that are quieter and more relaxing than the frenzy of Chaweng. It's also only 10 mins from Samui Airport. I hated leaving this place after a week of total relaxation. Luckily I got engaged at the Sala Samui so am hoping to use this as an excuse to return!

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. There are approx 54 rooms, 48 of which all have there own pools! We stayed in a pool villa, it was beautiful, 100 yards from a quite sandy beach lined with palm trees. Our villa also had a garden and decked area with 2 sun... more
