The moment you arrive, there is an out of this world reception being outside among beautiful surroundings. At once you are made to feel special the staff being so helpful and polite, nothing too much trouble. The rooms are glorious I was lucky as I also stayed in a... more

great deco bad location
we firstly spent one week in a medium class hotel in koh samui then moved onto hua hin and came down with a thud! This hotel is beautiful but so isolated that you could be anywhere! Other than staying in the compound of the resort - you can hire bikes to go into the local village or take the free mini bus (45mins) into hua hin centre for shopping. This town is also un-inspiring) It is def not worth the 4 hour drive. The beach was the most dissapointing aspect - not at all comparable to other thai resorts. The beach strip was in-undated with jelly fish - this may have been a one off but there were no tourist sun bathing on the beach or swimming in the sea. The hotel prices are closer to london prices than thai prices which is frustating as you do not have the option to go else where (except small family hun eatery to the right of the hotel - this is excellent, you eat on plastic plates and the surroundings are not as luxurious as the evason but the food is fantastic you can get a whole meal for the same price as a evason own cocktail!) The evason is a gorgeous hotel, the public areas are stunning even the toliets with lily ponds as the outskirts! You cannot criticise the food, it is the only buffet i have visited that offer oysters. I would consider visiting another hotel in the evason chain but would do my research on the location as the location of this hotel did spoil the visit. I don't understand why anyone would travel all that way JUST for a hotel
absolutely flawless !!
We stayed at the Evason and booked a pool villa room - well worth it if you can . The room was very clean and stylish. The showers (2 ) and the bath are out in your own private plunge pool / garden area - which makes showering a whole new liberating experince ! We also had a look at the Ocean Front studio room which is one grade down form the pool villa room, however is still very nice with a sunken bath and very big balcony! The bar area was all open air, which served really nice snack food all day/night and a further 3 restaurants which were great. In the evening all the public areas and walkways are lit with candles and flame torches which provides a really nice touch ! I work for a travel agent, therefore fortunate enough to travel extensively - the Evanson in Hua Hin i can safely say is the best place i've ever stayed ! I can't recommend it enough !
Lush!
We actually happened upon the Hideaway at the Evason in Hua Hin by accident: My family (parents -in -law, brother-in-law, wife and two boys aged 7 and 5) were originally booked to stay at the Hilton but decided to check out - nice, but not our thing - a little too claustrophobic. We hit the road to find somewhere more to our taste and were bowled over by the Hideaway. We stayed in the villas - which are stunning: All mod cons are harmoniously integrated with the traditional village style, there is plenty of space and (at last!) a private pool (10m by 5m approx) that is large enough for the kids to play in and to do a few lengths! The management team are excellent - Patrick is in charge of the Hideaway and is a master of relaxed, warm, efficiency. Mark, the Head Chef - got chatting about our food preferences and before we knew it, we were presented with a delicious choice of newly created dishes! The kids got spoilt by everyone and we were well looked after by our personal butlers. The problem is, after this holiday, anything else just looks bland in comparison!
Perfect relaxation
Having stayed a week at Evanson Hideway in May 2005 - in a wounderful poolvilla with full sea view we can only consider our vacation a success. Instead of rambling along we can simply say that the service, quality of food, views from the villa etc.. was just perfect. A stay here really gives you something to remember and make you smile many months later. A small note though: keep in mind that it is two (sister-) properties: Evason Resort and Evason Hideaway. The Hideaway (where we stayed) is more private (and more expensive).
Wonderful hotel but not for beach lovers
We stayed here for a week in April 2005. After a long journey (4 hour drive after flight from UK) we arrived at night to this hotel. We had a pool villa and were delighted with the room and pool. Although quite small it was perfectly perportioned with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The restaurants were also excellent and very reasonably priced; however be warned that the pizza restaurant located next to the 'hideaway' part of hotel charges 200baht more for the same glass of wine as the main restaurant (located ten paces away).......we thought that was odd. Having said all of that we spent £350 between us for 7 days/evenings of great food and wine and thought that was very reasonable. The road going through the hotel was also a bit off putting but as we had our own villa and pool it did not bother us. The beach is also disappointing. If however, you are a pool person and want wonderful weather, wonderful surroundings, reasonably priced and wonderful food then book a pool villa and have a wonderful time!
cool hotel shabby beach
I had booked at the Evason Phuket but due the tsunami Dec 26 2004 I had to alter by travel plans and ended up at the Evason Hua Hin. I travelled by car from Bangkok to Hua Hin which took around 3/4 hours and cost me 6,500 baht the journey was gruelling I had a pool villa which comprised of a bedroom sitting area with a large day bed and poster bed with an outdoor shower and bath with a small swimming pool and I suppose a salsa. The room was clean and well provided and relaxing. The restaurants had good choices of well prepared food and choices. The pool area seemed well staffed and guests had good attention and help with sun lounges and towels. The staff had a good attitude to children The beach area was mainly a sand dusty road separating the lawn area of the hotel with the sea front which was basically a sea wall made from large boulders, the beach was really none existent so one can forget laying on a clean sandy beach. One could sit beside the road I would not recommend. The sandy dusty road was busy with traffic which whipped up sand which blew into the restaurant area. Two new hotels were being constructed within a 2/4 minute walking distance of the hotel thus the heavy traffic One of the main think which bothered me a bit was that due to the circumstances due to the tsunami I found myself travelling alone I found that some of the staff mainly in the restaurant area treated me like a alien rather to a guest and treated me a bit different to other guest. I did book two tours of the local area which were cancelled by the hotel or tour operator I would recommend the hotel if one likes a good spa, and pool area, and villas with their private pool area and wish to have 2/3 days peace and quiet I would not recommend for a sandy beach as it was grubby and unsuitable for sun bathing and lounging. The hotel was a bit isolated about 30/40 drive to the centre of Hua Hin I did fly back from Hua Hin to Bangkok cost 1,200 Baht one way it took about 40 minutes it was a nice flight far better than travelling by road. Which I would recommend one can book the flight via the hotel
fab hotel
If you want to get away from it all this is the hotel a bit out of the way but if you have been to Bangkok first you will love the peace. Try and get a pool villa it is worth it. Food and staff are great only thing wrong no beach. We have now stayed 3 times here
Amazing resort
We stayed here for 3 weeks in September 2004 after a hectic 4 days in Bangkok. We arrived and were made to feel welcome immediately. There were some wonderful day-beds dotted all around the grounds and we were placed on one and given wonderful cold towels with lemongrass sticks and refreshing complimentary drinks. We had booked a couples package which included a room upgrade, one free breakfast in bed, one free meal at 'The Restaurant', a couples massage in the Six Senses Spa, chocolates and champagne on arrival and bathrobes. Our room was not quite ready so we were shown around the grounds. It was evident just how large the hotel was although during our stay we never once felt like the hotel was busy. Our room was amazing, just the way I had imagined it, very classy, neutral colours, very large very comfy bed with lots of pillows, very soft linen etc etc. We had a large day bed on the terrace with mosquito nets so we could sleep outside if we wanted. There was a TV with lots of channels, CD and VCD player, you could borrow movies free of charge, with speakers in the bathroom. The restaurants were amazing, and the food was very reasonable considering we were away from most restaurants. There were a couple of very cheap restaurants about 2-3 minutes walk up the beach, but we chose to eat on-site for the majority of our stay. We decided to upgrade to a pool villa for our final 2 nights at an extra cost of approx £140, but it was well worth it. Everything was amazing, the staff made us feel very special and our butler ensured we had everything that we wanted. The grounds are spectacular, there was some building going on as we arrived, they were constructing a large lilly pond and a new reception area which was finished by our departure date, this really made the difference, and turned the site into a no-car zone. When you arrived at the gate, you were transferred to a golf buggy and transported to wherever you wanted to go. Wherever you walk you are surrounded by tranquility, there are water features dotted all over with fish and frogs swimming in, large day beds so that if you get tired you may have a rest. The staff were impeccable. When you arrived at the pool, the brought you fresh towels and beds for you to chose where you wanted to sit. If you stood up to put the umberella up, they would rush over - you were not allowed to lift a finger! This felt weird and lazy at first, but we soon got used to it! We were given endless cold towels with lemongrass, ice lollies (the green ones were the best) and fresh fruit. We arranged to go the River Kwai with the tour dept, it was quite expensive at £100, but we had a brilliant day. We had our own guide and we were picked up at 05:30, we saw the most beautiful sunrise (see pictures) of the whole stay, and we set off. We were allowed to have a sleep and when we awoke we had a breakfast box containing sandwiches and fruit and cake. Our guide took us to the JEATH museum and cemetary and to the River Kwai, we boarded a boat and went along the river and caught the train. It really was a day to remember, and the service was amazing, lots of cold towels with lemongrass, cold drinks and meals etc. Well worth the money. I don't know what else to say about this amazing hotel! For us the slight downside was its location, it was a fair journey into Hua Hin itself, approx 30 minutes, although the hotel ran a shuttle bus a few times a day and a taxi was about the same price. The other problem was that the beach wasn't that great. We are great lovers of the sea, but couldn't swim due to the jelly-fish. But the pool made up for it. We would definitely return, but there are so many places we want to go it may be a few years until we go back.
Fantastic "Thai Style" Resort
We stayed here for two weeks in April 2004 and have to put a review on this site as it is a fantastic resort. It is located about 5Km out of Hua Hin, amidst pineapple farms and small thai bars and once you get into the resort it is like a paradise. It has skulpted lakes full of waterlilles and that rooms are set out as small villas with large marble bathrooms and huge balconies with double beds on for chilling out. The hotel is more expensive than one would expect in Thailand but you get 5 start service all the way. My partner and I also had treatments at the Evason spa which was fantastic. I cannot rexcommend this resort more highly as a base to see the real Thailand but also indulge in a bit of luxury.
Luxurious, but no beach...
Firstly, I can't agree with the reviewer who left after 3 days...we too occasionally had to get our own towels, but not being Thai Royalty then we managed to 'slum it' ok! It's hardly an issue!!! Everyone was very friendly and the hotel itself was excellent in style and luxury. There were a couple of downsides though...As someone else stated, the fact is that there is no natural beach and although there is a man made beach, it's basically a concrete road which has been covered with some sand. The pool area is lovely though and extremely peaceful. The second problem is the over-priced winelist with 'entry level' bottles costing around £22 or so. If you want anything decent then you're looking at £30 and above. Again, as stated, when you do go to the nearest town (Hua Hin) then it really shows how much mark-up you are paying to the hotel. If you go down the manmade beach you reach Mr Singh's little bar where you pay about 50p for a Singha beer and the other way there is a Thai massage place with really friendly girls who charged around £4 for an hour long excellent, but painful, massage :). That's the other thing - the 'spa' part of the hotel is, frankly, a rip-off. It's nearly £50 to get even the basic treatments which is ridiculous considering how much you've paid just to stay there. Having said all that, if you do what we did (visit Mr Singh, the 'other' massage area and visit the town often) then it doesn't cost a fortune. If not, then prepare to pay as much again just to for the bills as you did for the accommodation. Finally, the staff are very friendly especially Tak who is an excellent tour guide. I would definately recommend this place and it is really tranquil and beautiful. I don't want to paint too bad a picture because we would stay there again IF it had a nice beach. As it doesn't, I think we'll be trying another similar type resort the next time we visit beautiful Thailand.
