Not Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We stayed at this hotel the first two weeks of October 2008 and had a great holiday. This was due to the lovely people we met and the wonderful weather NOT the standard of this hotel.Whilst the rooms are large and airy, they are very shabby .Saying that,we spent no time in there anyway so this wasnt a problem. The pool area is OK,and the pool is clean, but there is no proper pool bar and due to the location of the hotel the sun only ever shone on one side of the pool and the rest of the loungers were in the shade.Luckily the majority of guests use the beach or there would not have been enough loungers, certainly not any in the sun.The beach is quite a walk away, and no alcoholic drinks or food are served at the beach bar.Whilst the food actually tasted OK,everything was stone cold and was not geared towards British tastes at all. This was OK for us,but lots of the Brits were not happy and eat out. There is no proper lobby or indoor restaurant, and if the weather had been poor, I dread to think what you would find to do or where you would have sat.to eat or drink. The staff, with only a couple of exceptions, are miserable and scruffy. The animation team had all left so apart from a half hearted kids mini disco and a couple of bingo nights the entertainment was non existant.Tea and coffee are not available 24hrs...everything is switched of at midnight. You only get water in your mini bar and the hairdryers overheat after 2mins and switch off.We complained to our rep....he agreed the hotel is rubbish, which says it all really. Overall, this is definately not a 4star hotel. We payed very little money to stay there and so we couldnt really complain. My husband, who is Turkish, has written to the Turkish tourist board to ask why it was awarded any stars at all!!!!!!!!! I think this hotel is best avoided by the Brits...its more geared up for Germans/Russians and is of very poor quality in general. In fact its quite depressing. There are some lovely hotels in this part of Turkey and it is a great place to go but Gold Safran Hotel......NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
ciderman
the food was always cold food not really up to the english palate more for easten european . rooms ok but forget the mini bar all you get is water, no servace is available around the pool.not a hotel to be recomended
Great Expectations Absolutely Not!!!!!
cannot begin to express my utter dismay when we checked into this hotel that was described as a 4* accommodation. i have stayed in many hotels in turkey over the past 17yrs and i can asure you that this is not a 4* hotel. on arrival we checked into a rather dreary reception area and was escorted to our rooms via a 4 storey flight of stairs as the lift was broken which was a regular occurrence. the rooms were very basic and scruffy and the shower ran down the wall so we had to stand against the tiles to get wet. the bedding was a disgrace with lots of stains on it, the top sheeet was the size of a hankerchief and felt like old rope. when we eventually went down to eat at the restaurant i couldnt believe my eyes we were greated with plastic tables and chairs it resembled a hgv cafe. the food was very poor i mainly eat soup and salad as the main meals were constantly cold and on the odd occassion the soup was even cold. the outside area was even worse i was unable to stay around the pool area as i was afraid i was going to be bitten to death by fleas.it looked as though the area hadnt been cleaned for months. we had to go to the beach everyday and pay for loungers as i wasnt prepared to stay in the hotel. the food quality was really bad it was aimed at the russian polish and german clientelle and mainly consisted of sausage combinations. we cannot express how bad this hotel is, not only the accommodation but also the staff. i found them rude ignorant and very unkept. we did try to move our accommodation but we were told that the resort was full and that we would have to down rate to a 3*! i felt as though the operator was not listening why would i want to down rate when i was destraught with the 4*. i could go on and on about this hotel but i just need to forget about the whole experience and move on. just to compare other hotels it turkey have a look at the resort of turgutreis hotel aegean dreams it was fab we stayed there sept 07.

rain and russians
My boyfriend and I booked the holiday with teletext on the 4th september and flew out on the 9th for 2 weeks all inclusive paying 470.00 each. FLIGHT AND TRANSFER flight out was fine and running on time. Picked up the suitcases and mine was ripped all down one side! Luckily I had luggage straps around it so nothing had fallen out.Arrived in alanya at midnight and was on the bus leaving at 1am. Around 3am the rep on the bus got off and went home as he was tired leaving around 20 passengers on the transfer with a non english speaking driver and no list of the hotels he needed to drop off at. 2hours later 5am we arrived at our hotel! the whole transfer was only supposed to be 2hrs. the transfer was booked with a2b transfers. HOTEL ROOM Hotel room was clean and we had a maid come in everyday to change the bed covers and the towels.she stopped leaving toilet roll after a few days and we thought it was maybe because we had not given her a tip yet as we had not been in when shje came to clean so we found her and give her 5lira, no more problems after this. There is a fridge in the room which the water is free to drink and is replaced daily. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom but it tended to overheat so I would advise to take your own. FOOD The food was average as to what you get abroad. It was edible and we always found something to eat even if it was just a bowl of soup with lots of bread. 7 - 9 breakfast 10 - 12 you can get like a pitta bread with cheese in 12.30 -2 lunch 2.30 - 3 hamburgers, chips and spag bol around the pool 7- 9 dinner not very many english in the hotel. our first week there was us and another couple. The other guests are very rude when it comes to meal times and push in front of you. It really is like feeding time at the zoo. I also didn't like the fact that there was not enough tables for everyone so we sometimes had to sit on a table for 8 people so other guests would join us. RELAX BAR is where we ate alot of the time. its a 2min walk from the hotel and they serve many dishes including full english breakfast in the morning to steak, toasties, fresh fish and chicken with garlic mushrooms all at reasonable prices. TRIPS booked with our rep Menderes Managvat market - paid £15 each TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY every monday there is a market outside the hotel which is bigger and cheaper. We were on the bus for 3hours to get there because of all the pick ups. we went to look at some old ruins first but nothing amazing. We then continued to Side jewellery store where everything is thousands and thousands of pounds. I t all looks nice and is made on the premises but I personally cant tell the difference between real diamonds and cubic zirconia so I wouldnt risk spending all that money. Then we finally arrived at the market and had 2hours there. There is a little cafe to get something to eat but it is overpriced. Then we visited a mosque which was a pleasant experience but by this time everyone was hot and bothered and realised we then had 3hours back on the coach. BOAT TRIP - paid £30 each This I did enjoy and was goog value for money with drinks and dinner included. As we were only ten mins from the harbour this was a quick and easy transfer. We did buy some lovely pics from the photographer on the boat as he puts them in a post card style . The only bad thing about this trip was that they charged £2.50 each for an ice cream and charged extra for beer. AQUA PARK- paid £30 each TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY was told by Menderes that this was all inclusive. We arrived at the water park at 10am and went in. On the entrance all our drinks were taken off us. When inside the toilets were disgusting! literally faeces all over the toilet and floor. Lockers didnt lock. Any way we decided to make the most of the day and start queueing for rides. To which we found out we need a 2 seater dingy for the majority of rides. So off we went to get a dingy where we found that we had to pay £5 to hire one for the day! After already paying £30 each to go. But you cant just pay with cash, you have to put money on a swipe card then pay with the swipe card. There was no rep to explain all this to us we had to go and ask at information where they could hardly speak english. Then when dinnertime came there was pizza, kebab or burger. The allowance for apparently all inclusive was one drink, one ice lolly and one meal! Which youy had to get al together. Then whilst trying to eat the meal the place was swarming with wasps. Latyer on we decided to get a drink and the same applies, back to reception to put money on the card to get a drink. Where we found out the drinks cost £4.50 for a can of coke. This is why they had taken our drinks off us on the way in. Whole day was horrible. JEEP SAFARI - Paid £30 each This I enjoyed and the food was not bad. good views and pictures take of the castle and harbour. It is a long day though and I was exhausted by the end of the day. It was a shame it was cloudy and not as warm as there was oppurtunity for swimming in the mountains. we did visit a remote village where the toilets were just a hole in the ground! WEATHER The first week the weather was beautiful, around the 40s every day and high 20s at night. Day 8- cloudy temp 30ish Day 9 - cloudy with heavy rain temp 20ish Day10 - thunderstorms non stop, hotel flooded on ground floor temp 15 ish Day 11 cloudy 20ish Day 12- cloudy with some sunny spells Day 13- cloudy with sunny spells Day 14 - Sunny - had to be on our last day! For this time of year the locals said this is really unusual and they dont usually get rain like this even in winter so I think we were just really unlucky and were grateful to have 1 week of nice weather. Also because we got the holiday cheap we did not mind so much as if we'd spent 700 each etc. I felt sorry for the people that went for one week. One last thing, the hotel does have a small internet cafe and for £2 an hour you can go online which is a lot cheaper than £1.75 a min to phone home on the mobile and 50p a text.
Omg this is a hotel??????
We just arrived from our 10-day vacation in hotel "Gold safran" Alanya, Turkey, from 29.7.-09.08.2008 and I must say that this was THE WORST hotel that I ever come into! Our arival in Turkey was OK , bus had air-conditioner, and it was nice 2 hour travel to Alanya from airport. When we arrived in hotel in 13:00 we had to wait for 1 hour(!) to get a room. Hotel policy says that rooms should be left or taken by 12:00. At the recepcion we noticed that personal is lookin very dumb into us when we spoke to them. Why? They dont know a word of English!!!! One or two man from all personal including general manager (he doesn't, so dont bother about complaining) can speak poor english. So if you speak only english and your native language you wont be chatting around a lot :-( Meals are catastrophic!!!! Main dishes are poor.cooks give you what they think it is enough and it is mostly about 1/3 of normal ammount, and if you ask for more you will me rejected ofcourse. We find out that water from baloons is supllyed from city water suply,we saw hotel personal doing that and it is NOT recomended to drink it.A girl from our group ended up in hospital, dehidrated, and without 350 euros for one bottle of infusion. Rest of food is brought day after day in different shapes, until it is eaten. One day - chicken pieces in souse, next it is chicken salad. Meat is founded in traces, meat fans- there is great restorant in front of hotel, excellent dish and good price. More critics on food, flies are all around "fresh" meals, salads, cakes etc... More critics - for every meal (except breakfast,i'll explain that soon) you NEED to come 30 mins - 1 hour before start becouse there are lack of tables for eating, and russians are always hungry,i guess they dont eat much in Russia. Since there are free alcohol drinks in bar untill midnight, guests (mostly Russians) are using that service a lot for their vodka-coke,vodka-beer,vodka-vodka shots before sleep and since they are to drunk to get in the morning most of them come on late breakfast (it is resuming of breakfast, starting at 09:30 till 10:30) Next part - pool There are very small number of sunbeds and umbrellas, and very big problem about that... That nice people (russians) are getting up early in the morning and place towells on sunbeds ( in 7 am all are reserved). We tried to put towell the night before but in the morning we found the same in some bush behind 2 rows of sunbeds. So we went on beach... Sea was suprisingly nice and we enjoy it,but 6 lira (3 euros) is cost of happiness (2 beds and 1 umbrella for all day) They said 4 opened pools: 2 big and 2 for children...i will show on this site 1 "big" and 1 small,in my opinion they have 3 small and 1 not big enough for their capacity. rooms - cleaning lady was doing nice job,but she cant do vonders with broom with chewing gums on floors and something like that. towell were changed every day, sheets on every 2-3 days,on your request it can be changed when ever you want. So if you want to visit this so-called hotel be prepared for fighting over crapy meals, lack on sunbeds, lack of english and a lot of hungry hungry Russians!!!!!!
Terrible
This should be 2 star hotel not a 4 star. Unfriendly staff, dirty rooms and hallways, broken elevator and no hot water. Stray cats wondering in the restaurant that serves the same food over and over again. The only friendly and professional person was the lady preparing gozleme. I had an argument with one of the bartenders just because i asked for a glass with ice for my coffee. He would not give me a glass because the only way he approves having coffee is in a cup without ice. I asked to see the manager and he yelled at me.
gold safran
just back from turkey and the gold safran hotel, had a great time apart from some very rude guests ( russians).not a lot of brits stay here but then not many in this part of the resort anyway. this hotel is fairly clean and well presented , the animation team are superb people, especially pinochio and smiley, (whom also gets called bawbag) .food at times was good but depends on your taste ,some of the shows at night are good ut others just bad .expect a fashion show from a leather company at least one night a week (strange) . the area directly outside the hotel is very good for food, shopping and shows at night. i just want to recommend a couple of places to you from my experiences. the relax bar/restaurant for the best english breakfast and great food in general where you,ll meet bob marley and the boys , superb . and also melanies who do a showtime act with jugglers and dance moves you really must see. these places are just round the corner from the hotel andi take some very happy memories from them.most places here take euros but beware they just round them up to the nearest euro so better with lira, and always argue for a better deal in the shops as its expected
Brilliant
Found the hotel not to be 4 star like it claims but it is very clean and the staff very efficient in what ever they do. once you get round your head around the hot water times as it is only certain times you get this due to water being heated by solar panels only.Found the hotel and the people very friendly many didnt speak english but this is what you go to a different country for to experience different things The food was different every night as they held theme nights from different country's and plenty of it loads of choice's What we did was try something if we didnt like it didn't get it again Bumped into moaning brits who you need to avoid LOL. who expect to go abroad and find england. Would deffinataly go here again me and my wife had best time of our life were very sad leaving. would recomend this hotel to anyone.the staff on a evening were great with kids ie: getting them up and dancing and playing games to which most of the parents joined in.Even through the day they had great things going on in the hotel We took liras with us but most people are after euro's just insist you pay via lira you get more for your money and where ever you go haggle haggle with every man and his dog LOL The only sad thing was leaving 7 days was not enough
Gold Safron August 2006
We booked our holiday through On The Beach [--] There were four of us, My wife, two girls (6 and 14) and myself. THe hotel although claimed to be a 4* is more like 2-3 * The hotel staff can't speak any English, I tried to speak with the deputy Manager as I had a problem with the hot water, although he claimed he could speak english, when I spoke to him he stared me in the face and looked at the reception girl who could speak a little for translation. We had problems with hot water, if you had your bath/shower before 6pm you would be lucky to get hot water any time after that it would run out as everyone else uses it. The water doesn't come with any pressure. The accomodation is OK but certainly not 4*. Some staff are pleasent others were not, the place is filled with Russians, so the food is catered for them. You won;t find any fry ups here or around the area. The entertainment music is often very loud so if I were you try and get a room on the front of the hotel. Overall the area is nice, but take Euro's not Lira. Every shop cat and dog want your Euros. I over paid for many things as I had already converted my money into Lira, they then convert thier Euro price to Lira which means you get done twice on the exchange. People out side are gereally nice, we booked out trips from a lady who runs a place heading towards the beach from the front of the hotel. She spoke English and appreciated Children. There is a haham place across from the travel place who were also a very friendly family run busniess, we had our second hamam there and got treated really nicely. There are photo paprazzi's there who will take picture of you and family then pester you to buy the pictures. So be carefull of them. The Saloon with in the otel is cheap and make sure you bargain, we paid £20 for three ladies wash and cut + 1 Mens Wash and Cut. Although be vary ofone of the barars who starts to flirt with the women then askes for thier e-mail address, telephone number.
