like others i looked at previous reviews and i thought they were more good than bad,, so take the chance.. well me and my partner went there for 2 weeks half board and we could not fault the place... the food was good the rooms are great and the staff were so friendly. ... more

We stayed at this hotel feb 13th in Oct 2010. we found it to be even busier in Feb than previous 4 month ago. It remained a beautiful clean and lovely hotel to which we will return probably in a couple of years time and try somewhere else for a change only next winter hol.... more

We have just returned from the Guayarmina Princess and I must say this is not a 4 star hotel. I have stayed in better 2 stars. My daughter and son-in-law had cockroaches in their room. The pool are is lethal it is so slippy. The food is geared more for the German market and... more

Overall a good holiday

We returned from our stay at this hotel just over a week ago and i have to say that we were very pleased with it. Being term time it was not over run with kids and yes as stated in some of the other reviews there are only two staff to run kids entertainment etc.. but they couldnt have been nicer and our three year old loved them! The food was great, a very good selection during the week - you just need to get used to the buffet style of eating - which is fast and furious but soon becomes second nature! We also had our one year old with us and they were more that helpful with heating bottles etc.. and the kids were given so much genuine attention from the staff that they had a great holiday. It makes a change to go to a country where kids are just accepted and you dont feel on edge every time they speak! Im not sure i would go to this part of Tenerife again - too many english abroad, luminous signage and football tops for us - but if thats your thing you cant go wrong. Would definately go to another Princess hotel - and in reference to other reviews talking about health and safety etc. surely going away and getting away from the red tape is what makes a holiday just that. Enjoy this hotel if you choose to go there!

A few highly critical reviews read before our holiday made us apprehensive, but there was no need to worry only to marvel at the capaity of some people to moan about almost everything. We found little to carp at.. yes, the tiled floors made old people like my wife and me wary, but there was little about the hotel we could fault. And how anyone could grumble about a menu that offered at least six choices a night, much of it cooked on the spot by cheerful chefs, and served hot, we just don't know.You cou7ld enjoy a five course dinner every night. Yes, the dining room is big - 700 plus covers - but we seldom had to wait for more than a few minutes even at peak time and the speed at which staff prepared tables, whisking away and renewing tablecloths in a flash, was most impressive. Even at 80 I found the pool acceptable if a little chilly, and to be able to take a lift down to the prom was a bonus. We found all the staff attentive, friendly and efficient. One of the biggest assets of the hotel was space - space to wander and to sit...and even on the hot days we never failed to find a lounger by the pools. We've been around the world, and for value for money, style and reasonable comfort (the room could have been more cheerful) the Guayarmina is hard to beat. We are already recommending it to friends, telling them to ignore the moaners - and go and enjoy it!
good class hotel

we have just returned after a wonderful stay in this hotel, the room was excellent and kept clean every day, fresh towels if you wanted them. food was very good and big selection even for the fussiest eater. did not go in the swimming pools as the strong winds every day made them too cold to go in. but always cleaned well. loads of sunbeds so no need to rush out in the morning there are PLENTY and umbrellas if you need them, loads of seating areas there as well which was good as there were many elderly people there, entertainment wasnt up to much but we found lots of places to go in the evening to suit us young " 50 's " if you go this month make sure you take woolies altho we came home with great tans that wind is wicked and it is COLD at night never known it like that all the years we have been there, only complaint i have of this hotel has got to be the price of the drinks in the hotel they were well overpriced but they do happy hour between 4 and 5 pm which we went for. staff were helpful but reception did not know a lot when asked questions of the area but there is a thomson office in the hotel and they were helpful, this hotel is better than its more exp sister hotel the BAHIA would go back again no problem, and if the room is not to your liking they will change in couple of days for you altho we payed extra 3pd night to have sea view which was well worth it. hope this helps
Weeks break before Christmas

We had a weeks break before Christmas with friends. We found the rooms in the hotel quite dull with white walls, white 'mfi' furniture, and a brick wall halfway down the room to separate the sleeping area from the sitting area. Beds were 2 singles, with a pull out for our daughter(10). Rooms were however clean, and well serviced, with fresh towels daily and beds changed half way down the week. The hotel bars and restaurents were good for the number of people staying with a buffet style service, but a good choice, and good food. The bar staff were attentive. The decor of the hotel was good, it was just the rooms that let it down for us. We would not class the rooms as 4 star, and told the TUI rep this (brick Wall), but the rest of the hotel lived up to its 4 star rating. Reception staff were also not up to the 4 star rating.
Wasnt up to the standard we expected

We stayed in this hotel in September 2005. Having read varied reviews we were not too sure what to expect. The hotel is a Thomson Platinum Hotel, and is featured on most of the correspondence you will recieve from Thomson. This was surely a good sign?! Afraid not. For a 4 Star hotel we were very dissapointed. The complaints we read before hand in regards to food, service e.t.c we could not justify, as we found these aspects to be fair overall but other factors were very dissapointing. Our main complaint was the standard of the rooms. My wife and I had paid a little extra for a suite, with our sons and a friend sharing a standard room. I cannot hoenstly say that there was a great deal of diffrence with these rooms. They infact had a better view. We also found the location wasnt great, for the young or old. Its a strange concept in torviscas, there are pleanty of places to dine but very, very few places to go after that. We found our self staying in the hotel most evenings. As for the younger members of the party they found the 15 mins + taxi journey into Playa de Las Americas a bit or a pain and over the period of two weeks, rather expensive. Having spoken to some of the residents we were told that the area is experiencing a lull at the moment, many of the busineses dont have the tourism to stay open. I would think this is highly probable as there seemed to be pleanty of disused/to let space. Overall, the weather was fantastic for the most, but I dont think we would go back and certainly not to this hotel.
Good Impression

Having just returned from a delightful holiday with my wife and granddaughter i felt I must answer some of the critics I had read before departure so here we go. water in pool freezing yes its cold for the first couple of seconds but then outside is so hot you will have a shock after that you can spend hours in the pool. Food only beefburgers! what about the entrecote steak,Turkey,pork veal. fish etc Having to wait for a table at restaurant yes there was a slight delay at PEAK times, but having stayed at over 20 four star hotels in the canaries this is quite normal, and does not spoil the night.The food was hot the waiter service was pleasant and quick. The rooms were clean,and seviced properly. Security was good,and Like its neighbour the Torviscas Playa Hotelwhere we stayed in may we came away having really had a good holiday.

Stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 children aged 5 and 9 years in June 2005. Very grand looking hotel in a very busy location. On arrival, we were left to find our own way to our room and as this is a very large hotel, we got lost a few times! Rooms were somewhat disappointing. They are in need of updating and decoration, although they are very large and more than adequate for all 4 of us. The view was a sideways view and not a very good one! However, rooms and hotel was very clean. The main highlight of this hotel is the staff. They are extremely helpful and very friendly. The head waiter is great and always on hand to make sure everything is running smoothly in the restaurant and to turn away those gentlemen who insist on wearing beach wear to dinner!! The head waiter was constantly checking the buffet and making sure food was hot and topped up. Great selection of food and good carvery. The waiters were all very friendly and helpful, and great with our kids. The facilities were good but entertainment average. Lots of staff on hand to assist guests and hotel surroundings kept very clean. The swimming pools were great and plently of sunbeds. Location of hotel was right in the middle of everything so lots to do during the day and evening. However, you do get hassled when walking along the promenade during the evening. Theres a nice walk along the promenade into Playa Du Duque which is very upmarket with fabulous luxury hotels and shops, and great views.
Less than expected from Canaries

We just returned from Tenerife about a month ago - overall it was fine, even great in terms of places to visit and the beauty of nature to admire. BUT the attitude is an issue: I would say, I'd expect more from a well-developed resort, especially when tourism is the country's prominent business. The hotel's location couldn't be better - right on the beach, very near to Del Duque where it is so nice to walk and hang out. Not too noisy which is good, not too many drunk Brit teens:-) Hotel is very beautiful, probably the best looking 4* hotel I've seen on Tenerife. Rooms are not too spacious, but very tidy and well-kept. However I had a feeling that Russians are always put on the 1st level - it's ok, very close to the beach, but lower than the promenade level with no sea view. Plus when there was a tropical rain (shower), we all were moved because the water started to go inside the rooms. Food in the restaurant is very good especially for dinner - menu changes all the time, everything is very well-cooked. Still, you have to stand in the line every time which starts to annoy you soon. Personnel is OK, friendly, pretty professional, but lacking enthusiasm as everyone on Tenerife including guides: "you liked it - good; you didn't like it - ok, we'll have new people coming here right after you". Though it's officially banned, sunbeads in the pool area are being booked from 7 AM, and you can hardly find a vacant one with parasol. Animation for Russian kids is poor as it is usually in Spanish and sometimes in English - not very convenient, but probably perfect for Spanish families from the continent. Beaches are all municipal, somewhat dirty, but Fanabe Playa is certainly above average. From locational standpoint I would recommend Guayarmina to everyone, however, it is unlikely that we come here again.

This was our second stay at the Guayamina Princess and it proved even better second time round. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly, helpful and recognised us from our first visit - this made us feel even more welcome. The location is lovely with the sun terraces overlook the sea. The food is excellent and the speciality nights are a real treat. The hotel is close to the beach, bars and restaurants and the promenade offers a lovely walk to the Del Duque area which is quite and relaxed. Our holiday here was perfect for the second time and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of holidaying in Tenerife.

impressive on arrival, and well situated between Del Douque and Las Americas, so you can have easy access to both worlds. Del Douque is very upmarket, relaxing and hassel free, Las Americas is full of Football shirts and lager louts. There's an awaful lot to be addressed at the Guayarmina Princess and whilst it does offer a four star standard (technically), it's NOT a platinum hotel (as advertised by Thompson's) The rooms are small, (if you've booked a twin room (2 adults, 2 children), you'll get a 18 foot by 12 foot box, with a 3/4 partition down the middle and no living space. You'll pay 54 euros for a fridge, (that'll take 3 x 3/4 lts bottle of water, nothing more) and you'll pay 30 euros for access to the room's safe box, (never had to di that before) Up early folks (06.00 hrs), if you want a sun lounger, and even earlier if you want one with an brolley, there's not enough sun beds for guests and whilst Thomson and the hotel, have notices everywhere stating you can't reserve them, they don't enforce there policy and if you complain they'll give you a poor excuse. (seemingly this has been a problem since 2003 but they still haven't solved it) The pool is also too small and it's lethal, health and saftey would have a field day. They've got terricota tiles round the pool, which are very very slippy when wet, you'll not get a moment to yourself, as you'll have both eye's on your kids, just waiting for the inevatable accident. The food (buffet service) is OK, it's never going to win any awards, but as far as buffet service is concered it's better than i'd expected. The service in dinning is above expectations, they are efficient and pleasant as are the maids, whom will clean your room daily. The kids club is poor, only 2 entertainers for the entire hotel, so they thinly spread themselves between the kids and the adults. The ratio for supervision is also unsatisfactory. An accident waiting to happen. There's also no differentiation between the ages, so your 4 year old will be playng water polo with the 12 year olds and if he/she cant swim, well tough. The after noon club often doesn't open because of lack of staff, which is a shame as the 2 hours in the afternoon is the best time to get the kids out of the midday sun. Dont expect too much help for the hotel staff either, they all need a lesson in client service, they'd be lucky to get a job in burger king in the UK. overall this is an average resort and a dissapointing hotel, but there's plenty to do and if your expectations are high, before arrival, you'll still have an enjoyable holiday. i wouldn't go back to Tenerife, not our sort of holiday, but in the main, the two weeks passed quickly and we and the kids enjoyed themselves. BUT Come on Thomson's, this was are first package with you and you're not a patch on Thmas Cook, surley you can do better then this.
