On arrival the hotel looked well impressive. Excellent location, overlooking the bay.
Our room was also excellent, with a large balcony, again overlooking the sea.
Although clean throughout, the bathroom represented somewhat of a challenge! A fixed glass shower screen on the side of the bath made it exceedingly difficult to access the taps to bath and shower. Elderly or disabled would have found this a major problem.
Other reviewers have described the restaurant as 'a canteen.' I can only agree with such comments. Queue to get in, queue to get out.
In fairness, breakfast was essentially good, but as for dinner, little variation, often cold and vegetables swimming in water!
The pool area with its many sun beds, we thought very similar to a Thomson aircraft. (Sardinecan.Tom!!) God only knows what it is like in the height of the season!
Then we come to the funny bit!
On arrival back to the room, a letter awaited us. 'We have found a kettle in your room. Please contact reception for information and advice.'
'Oh no' we thought, what are we going to do ... they've found our kettle!
Having had many years experience of the use of kettles, we simply ignored this nonsense and continued to enjoy our morning coffee!!
Their gospel regarding high safety standards was made somewhat laughable, when the cable to the bedside lamp contained an exposed live cable connector lying on the top of the table!! Not very good news if young children are guests!!
Finally, after an error in our final bill, which the front desk staff took over an hour to rectify; their attitude was far from expectation and to be honest, quite obnoxious!
In summary, this place could be really good, but suspect a new management team and a complete review/change of practices and procedures is needed.
We would not consider returning!

This hotel is a 4 star building with a 2 star catering service. There was always a queue to get into the restaurant and a queue to get out again as no liquid refreshment was provided with the evening meal, (not even water).
This meant one had to buy wine or water from the waiter who usually put the bottle of wine on the table then walked away without opening it. On leaving the restaurant there was always a queue to pay for the water or wine.
The meat dishes were nearly always over cooked and what few fresh vegetables there was, were usually sloppy and tasteless.
Our room was a good and clean room but because of its situation next to the hotel loading bay, we were woken at about 4.30 every morning by the sound of bottles crashing into the recycle bin.
I was charged approx 4 euros per day for the use of the fridge which was approximately 18 inches square and was filthy, which I reported to the reception but to no avail, so I cleaned it myself.
To conclude, 4 star hotels should be able to provide water with the evening meal and not expect their clientele to queue up and pay for it after the meal.
The building itself is superb and well appointed, but the restaurant is run more like a canteen.
I would not stay there again.

I came on holiday to the Guayarmina princess hotel for 14 days with my mother. The hotel looks absolutely stunning from the outside, large whitewashed roman pillars and marble frontage. The inside of the hotel is also breathtaking, anybody, from first glances would agree that this hotel deserves its four star status, but they would be mistaken.
Our first week in the hotel was fine, the room furnishings were a little sparse, but the bathrooms were lovely. The only downsides were that we were not allowed tea or coffee making facilities or to use the plug sockets for anything, so no phone charging, no hair straighteners (help!) No digital cameras. We decided for the sake of a couple of cups of tea it didn't really matter. So we decided to order room service. Two cups of tea delivered to our room 7 euros!
The hotel is blindingly expensive for drinks and for everything else for that matter. Just a suggestion, but for anybody that comes to this hotel half board, go for lunch somewhere other than in the hotel! (After a week you'll be wanting to go for dinner elsewhere as well!)
My mother and I had decided before we came that this holiday would be very relaxing and wonderfully girly! So with that thought in mind we booked in to the hotel hairdresser/manicurist for a manicure. Anybody having any ideas about doing this whilst staying here, I implore you please don't.
The half an hour booked slot for my mother consisted of her waiting for 20 mins whilst the manicurist chatted in Spanish to her friends before blindly dumping my mothers fingers into what could only be described as washing up liquid before sticking some Aloe Vera on her hands followed by the worst nail painting I have ever seen! (She had more on her fingers than on her nails!) And let me tell you mine was no better! And all this for an astonishing 25 euros!
The second week started off very well, we booked a wonderful excursion to Loro Parque, but on our arrival back to the hotel was where the fun began. Starting with the lifts. There are three sets of lifts in the hotel by the time we arrived back to the hotel from our excursion. There was one solitary lift in operation. For around 500 people, all the others had been boarded up and the workmen were everywhere drilling and sawing in the lift shafts! Tuesday we woke up to find that out of the three hotel toilets only 1 was working as the others had been boarded up as well.
Wednesday saw the start of the painting, with areas of the hotel cordoned off and men with shopping trolleys full of paint walking the halls and using the only lift to get up and down! And then Thursday began in earnest with my mother finding the largest cockroach i have ever had the displeasure of meeting, relaxing in the bathroom! After the response we received from reception which was basically it’s a problem within the island not necessarily the hotel! We decided to ask the maid who was kind enough to spray the room with insecticide!
All in all, I would say that this hotel is a mixture of good and bad, obviously repairs and maintenance have to happen at some point and with Tenerife being an all year round destination I suppose it has to happen, but I would expect Thomson to make us aware! This hotel is ok but it is in no way 4 star.

Just returned from spending Christmas at this hotel. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure.
We booked a suite which on arrival after a 6 hour delay, and missed our evening meal, a cold buffet was waiting for us and in our suite was a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice, and a basket of fruit. The suite was spacious, clean and was well furnished.
During the stay there was a Gala Dinner on Christmas day, which was first class and included Quail eggs with Caviar, smoked salmon, and various courses of high quality cuisine, a selection of wines accompanied each course.
The remainder of meals were again of good choices and quality. We did not have to queue for more than a couple of minutes at the restaurant and that was only to be shown to our table.
The staff at all levels were more than happy to assist you and courteous at all times.
Having read previous reviews I was a little sceptical about this holiday. For a tourist 4 star on the continent, it was excellent.
All I can say that we met some people who we knew at the airport when we were leaving, and they stayed in a 2 star dump, miles away from anywhere and as they had booked via Thomsons as we had gone with Portland Direct, the difference they had paid to a standard room at this hotel was £58.00.
I would certainly say it is worth shopping around.

The first thing that happened when we arrived for our week in the Guayarmina Princess was to be greeted in the room by the safety guidelines listed on paper for our benefit. This barred you from using their power points for anything other than hairdryers. I ignored the rule and was met by sparks as I plugged my camcorder into a wall socket. I found that I could use the shaver point in the bathroom without any trouble. Of course, I couldn’t report the electrical fault, since I was not supposed to be using the socket anyway.
Unfortunately, this was not the only fault in the room I was not going to report. The maid managed to lose a screw holding up the toilet seat during the week and, fearing I would be blamed and charged, I said nothing. The fault was never repaired.
Apart from these niggles, the room was actually quite nice. It pleases me that now hotels realize that for British guests it is good to have Sky News. BBC World and CNN only really cater for international news.
The view was splendid. I could see right over the resort of Costa Adeje.
Around the pool it was crowded. However, I found up a flight of stairs a terrace with plenty of room. It did not have parasols but awnings. That should have been an improvement, only the awnings were moved using a metal pole and many of the metal loops into which you put the pole had rusted and were unusable. This led to me, what with the electrical socket, feeling that the hotel was slightly shabby and in need of renovation. In the brochures its sister hotel, the Bahia, looks gleaming and white. Closer inspection reveals it to be grey and in need of paint. I am starting to have to question my former opinion of the Princess chain that its name was a byword in class.
It was the week before half-term and there were a lot of children. A lot of parents seemed to feel that since they were on holiday they could leave their children to riot during the evening entertainment.
Thomsons were disgraceful. Their Platinum lounge was locked shut most of the time. Which is not much use when flight times are inside and not even displayed in the window. If you think that doesn’t matter then you are wrong. The reps don’t put a note through your door informing you of the flight details.
We spoke to the reps the Friday we left. They justified this on the grounds that you were told at the welcome meeting (what if you didn’t go to that?) to look in the Platinum lounge 24-48 hours before departure for the latest flight information.
On the Wednesday the Platinum lounge had a notice announcing that it was closed for “Staff Training”. We found out from another holidaymaker what they meant by “Staff Training” – a night out on the town for the reps. They weren’t there Thursday either when they should have been there in the morning. Hangover, anyone?
So, how could anyone have found out flight details between 24-48 hours beforehand, in the Platinum lounge, when we were all locked out?
The reps are totally without shame. Not only were they not up to the job, but they had a box in the Platinum lounge where you could unload unfinished toiletries from your stay. Why buy your own when you can get the holidaymakers to give you theirs?
A rep twice passed us as we left for the airport. Not so much as a hello to any of the large number of people waiting. We had to check we were on the bus for Los Rodeos airport. Friends at another hotel caught the wrong bus and had to spend 70 Euros on a taxi to the right airport. Let number one look after you? Yeah, right!

Just returned home after spending a week at the Guayarmina Princess, and although we did enjoy it I don't think we would return, didn't realise that this was a family hotel and it was over run with kids, disappointed that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, if you fancied a cuppa you either had to ring for room service or go downstairs to the bar area which I found unacceptable for a 4* hotel, and although the food was good the only restaurant area was like a cattle market at meal times, although the meal times were spread out you found yourself constantly bumping into other people, certainly doesn't rate as 4*, entertainment was poor also.

What can I say, went here for a 2 week holiday with husband and daughter age ten, hotel looked wonderful from outside but inside was another story. The hotel room we had smelled so bad of damp and mould, our headboards were covered in mould and the damp smell coming from all the mattresses was unbearable. We had to pay for a fridge which was very old and only held a couple of cans which could never get cold because once you left the room the electric went off. Wardrobe space was just enough for one person, there were three of us. The only reason we did not ask to be moved was our balcony overlooking the sea.
The food was mostly the same every day, no flavour no taste, if you didn’t arrive early enough to eat it was mostly cold too. We spent the second week eating out, and buying drinks to bring round the pool as the bar prices at the hotel were beyond stupid.
The pool was very nice and clean at the start of the week but by the second week we were swimming in a one foot layer of hair and skin. The poolside was extremely dangerous as it was very slippery and lots of children were having accidents. There was a security guard on the back entrance to the hotel 24 hours a day, but if you weren’t back for nine o'clock he locked the door refusing to let you through even though you had a hotel key. This meant walking all the way round up the hill and back on yourself to get to your room how stupid and annoying was that!
Overall the hotel should no way be rated at four star, its in bad need of refurbishment. It was in a nice location right near both beaches. The entertainment was really naff at night, during the day it was worse nobody could be bothered to join in as the activities were so boring. The television in the rooms also only catered for German and Dutch guests, oh sorry! Actually we had the one 24 hour news channel. We would never go back to this hotel but would go back to the resort.

First impressions of the hotel are great with a magnificent entrance area. The pool area is very nice and staff are friendly.
The food was good and varied. The downside is that drinks onsite are expensive but because of the hotels position that was not a big problem as there are lots of bars and restaurants in the area.
The hotels position is very good beside the beach, shops etc.

We visited this hotel in October 2004 and only stayed one night, I have taken this up with Thomson, they sent us to a different hotel after we paid to be upgraded to a 3* hotel. Thomson still think this is a 4* plus hotel and it still appears in all their brochures and they were extremely unhelpful, after travelling with them for several years we have not used them since and have been on 4 holidays since this time with another booked for October ! So there loss (there are 7 of us).
It was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, there was tarpaulin in the reception, the rooms where absolutely appalling, we had a lovely view of an Irish pub which went on till 2pm. There was mould in the bathroom, which was really small. The room was actually worse than any hotel I had ever stayed in.
The one meal we ate was breakfast, this was alright, nothing to shout about.
The whole of the hotel was dirty and the lower hallways smelt of mould.
The swimming pool was small and very dangerous for those with small children. This hotel should be down graded to 2star plus or maybe 3 star if you are being generous.

What an amazing holiday! This was my families (mom, dad, 2 sisters 18, 12 and myself 19) second visit to this hotel, but we got talking to several people who had spent 5/6 holidays there - which proves the high quality of the Guayarmina Princess.
All staff are extremely friendly and always look very smart. Whilst the drinks in the hotel are a little expensive- a) SO WHAT, you're on your holiday!! & b) there are plenty of local bars where a pint is as little as one euro!
The food was plentiful and of great quality! Lots of fresh fish and the olives, mmm... The only one slight complaint was that there was only cava for beakfast on one day (ha ha), however maybe this was not so bad in hindsight!
The rooms were clean and plenty big enough as a base, not that we spent too much of our time there.
The only reason that I have not rated the hotel as a 10 was the lack of a constant pool attendant or guard. Whilst this did not ruin my holiday in any way, it is my one and only complaint.
I would rate the resort 10/10 and have to mention The Moonlight bar, which is just fantastic! There is plenty going on for all types of people, and just down the road (4 euros in a taxi) there are some more lively bars (O'Reilys).
I had a fantastic holiday and will be most definitely returning!

We just spend our holidays in this magnificent hotel. Good food, wide variety, excellent quality. Nice, spacious room (mini suite) with sea view.
Only complaint is that the fridge was not included in the rate of the room and had to be paid additional. This should not be his way with a 4star rated hotel. We traveled with two teenagers (12 and 14 yrs). Animation during the day and in the evening was superb! Nice shows, lots of different sports.
During our stay we had a power failure and had to use the stairs to go to the swimming area. Stairs were not too well indicated and many people had to ask their way all the way up to the pool. I can only imagine to think what would happen in such a case during an emergency!

Having just returned from a fantastic holiday I thought I should write my review.
Myself, husband and son spent a week at Guayarmina Princess Hotel and I cannot fault the hotel in any way.
The hotel was spotless, the food was superb and the entertaining fabulous.
The quality of this hotel exceeded my expectations. Also I need to comment on Thomson... excellent.
I had read previous reviews and was slightly worried. The flights were on time and the onboard service was as good as anyone else we have travelled with.
The weather was also fabulous... it must of been high 70's every day, so don't be fooled that it maybe winter in Tenerife... but it is more like summer in the UK.
Overall I cannot fault the hotel, service or standards and it is worthy of its 4* status.
