Theoxenia Hotel

My wife and i spent part of our honeymoon at this hotel and now use the site as our screensaver because we did not want to leave. The breakfast was great each morning on the balcony overlooking the volcanoe and sea. The small intimate hotel as just what we wanted and located in centralized location that was perfect for shopping, dining and nightlife. I would be back in a heartbeat...only regret is we did not use the outdoor jacuzzi! Highly recommend staying here.

The hotel is a bit pricey, but worth it in many respects. You'll get a tastefully decorated room, breakfast in bed, courteous staff, and a central location. However, you should be aware of the properties shortcomings: the hotel is a 100m walk after a taxi drops you off, which may be tough on some customers; the hotel does not offer a free transfer from the port; not all rooms specifying a full caldera view actually give you one (two of my friends paid 138 euros in the low season for a deluxe room with a not-so-ideal view); and, the front desk is not always staffed.

I can not understand how many people can say the this hotel is so wonderful.I made my booking based on these reviews and I think it was a mistake. We booked for our honeymoon what we thought it was a nice room.When we arrived there it was everything but nice. The room had no views and the bathroom was dirty And there was no flowers or a bottle of wine as they say it is complimentary for all the honeymooners. They even knew that on our departure day there was a strike and he didn't tell us a word about that. The only good thing we had was breakfast. So please think twice if you want to stay there.Really it's not worth your money

We have just returned from a week’s stay in this hotel, and after reading the last review was really nervous before we left for our trip. When we got there the hotel, and certainly our room, was a really pleasant surprise after what I had prepared myself for. We had a room at the top of the hotel (Caldera Rooms 8 & 9 have just the best views!) and were certainly not disappointed - rather the opposite with the view that awaited us. The hotel is situated on one of the main busy streets (but this is Greece not New York so don't get too hung up on the busy!) but this kind of added to the appeal, you could walk out of the door and be in the middle of everything, but as soon as you got to your terrace and room you could have been a million miles away from anywhere - the views (the hotel is situated at the top tier of Thira) were just stunning. For those that can't get one of the top floor rooms - the ones without a caldera view overlooking Via d'oro are still really nice, you may not get a birds eye view of the sunset but the balconies still looked like a really pleasant place to people watch on the cobbled street below. As Theoxenia had a sister hotel (Aressana) we were able to use their pool which was welcomed! For May in Greece, Thira was busy especially when the cruise ships came in, we had 4 one day and the place was really heaving - this is not really somewhere I would visit during June, July or August, but we had a lovely time. Santorini is certainly one of the more expensive Greek islands but well worth a visit, and I would recommend the Theoxenia Hotel.

I dont understand the reviews posted here. I made my booking based on the excellent reviews here and I was indeed disappointed. Although I booked a seaview room, I was given a room with two small windows; one window looking onto a backyard and another window onto a large common terrace (no direct access) with a glimpse of the sea. The Manager insisted that this room was sold as a seaview room and couldnt find me another seaview room as they were all occupied. Other seaview rooms were better but apparently not perfect. Most looked over the roof of the shops opposite with a view of the sea beyond; it was not a clear unobstructed view like most hotels "on" the caldera. Needless to say, I checked-out the next day and found a wonderful hotel down the road with a clear view of the sea and volcano.

The room had enough space and was fairly nice, but the bathroom was in bad condition. Also, the hotel is on a busy street, so don't expect quiet, private vacation here!

Be prepared for the entrance to this hotel. I thought that the lady showing us to the hotel had made a mistake. The entrance was a door beside one of the famous jewellery shops. We were in Santorini for our wedding and on seeing the entrance I felt disappointed. We were shown to our room and I just could not believe what I saw. The room was everything you could want.. The breakfast that is brought to your room every morning is to die for... We plan on going back to Santorini for our anniversary next year and we will definitely stay at this hotel. Staff that are really helpful, a great location that is central to everything and a hotel that is spotlessly clean. The view from the balcony of the caldera is awesome.

Spent 3 wonderful nights at this small boutique hotel in the center of Fira town. Great view of the volcano, an incredible breakfast delivered to the room each morning, very helpful and pleasant staff. The rooms were decorated in a sleek modern style that I would not expect in a small property, and it was beautifully presented. Short walk to main shops and restaurants. I would consider this a "find" for the value and accomodations.

We stayed last may for 3 nights- The staff was great,the hotel outstanding, the view wonderful- we would leave the room and be seconds away from everything!!

For a moment i thought it was a mistake. The entrance was not quite what I anticipated. I knew the Hotel was small but I never expected what I saw. But then, oh god, just a surprize!! Walking to the top floor it all became true. An excellent room, slept very comfortably at what they said a bamboo matress, had a Jacuzzi (not the original but still way too comfy), the view to the Volcano is amazing as well as the sunset and the best of is the external Spa. Talk to Chris, he is professional and always smily. In their website....they sell no more of what they offer. I ll be back for next year Olympics and I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else.
