Spiliotica Villas

To whom it may concern at Trip Advisor: Spiliotica Villas is a family run operation and has been one of the most consistent establishments in Santorini. It is true that we are a small operation as are most located in Imerovigli. However, we pride ourselves on our ability to make guests feel like home. I would like to address the issues listed by Hercules0001: "Can't drink the water, but the Villas won’t provide bottled water." It is true that the water provided on the island is not potable. However, water is provided throughout the hotel and is plentiful and abundant at Breakfast. During this period of time, we chose to keep the water refrigerated because of the intense heat wave, but it was and always is available upon request. In reference to these particular guests, we offered a bottle of water and white wine immediately upon arrival. "Staff turns off A/C and refrigerator daily (a disaster in 40c weather)" Actually, this statement is completely false. The A/C switch is controlled by a key card. When you open your room, you slide the key card in and the A/C begins. This allows you and only you to regulate your room temperature. The refrigerator was never turned off. Sometimes during a mini power outage, the electricity will go out for a couple of minutes. "No towels for the beach, use for pool only" Yes, it is absolutely true that our towels are for pool use only. Since we are a small establishment, we reserve the right to mention this. This is not something that was promised and not delivered. This is an expectation that we clearly cannot fulfill and therefore do not promise. "Can't flush toilet paper. (is this an island wide problem?) Actually, all hotels in this area of Santorini do not use a sewerage system but rather septic tanks. As a result, we clearly indicate in all bathrooms that flushing toilet paper is NOT allowed, however this is a request that goes unheard quite often and causes troubles for our guests as it did for these guests. "Cant trust staff to book transportation and will push you to rent a car." This is completely false as well as slanderous. With regards to the above mentioned guests, we pointed out that it would be less expensive and more comfortable for them to rent a car and drop it off at the airport rather than hire a cab or 2 to take them to the airport. We never have and never will push guests to purchase any services at the hotel. In actuality, as mentioned previously we are a small family run B&B. These products distract us from the day to day operation, so we provide them only as a courtesy to our guests, they are not our profit center. "Two days out of five, the pool did not look clean enough to enter." The pool is cleaned daily. The greenish tint occurs when too many guests dive in with lots of sun tan oil. It is a common problem that can be only rectified with the expansion of our pool which is planned for next year. We believe that in light of these very hurtful statements which bear some serious inconsistencies, we had no alternative but to address these statements, and to shed complete light on what actually occured versus one families' alleged and reckless statements.
