Santorini Palace Hotel

We checked around in the other hotels in Santorini and found Santorini Palace to be the largest and nicest. Although we found their staff to be pretty rude, the rooms were large and spacious. First, we were given a small room, but complained and were given a much larger room. The access to the rooms is quite difficult and confusing because of the several stairways. Also, the pool was VERY nice and refreshing, even though it was saltwater (be careful not to open your eyes underwater) and it was VERY cold. Yet, it was nice for the summer.... more

We have read all the reviews of the Santorini Palace and feel that those submitted from August 6, 2003 to May 14, 2005 paint a highly accurate picture that reflects our own experience at this hotel. We stayed there June 8 – 11, 2004 on a World of Vacations (WOV) “island hopping” package that took us to Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete, Santorini and Athens. Stayed five nights at the Palace in Fira. The hotel is a bit dated but was clean. The hotel room was very plain with basic furniture and horrible beds. The bathrooms were clean but so old and barely functional regarding the shower. The balcony overlooked the pool and had a far away water view of the non caldera side of the island. We stayed at the palace in late September. I was worried that the pictures would make it look much better than it is, but I found that they were quite accurate. The lay out is really nice, and it gives you a sense of privacy. The pool is huge and beautiful, although the water was pretty cold. Nice view. The location is decent. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. We so far went to Mykonos and Paros. There is so much to do on this island. Make sure to visit the red and black beaches (Perivolos). Rent a scooter also. We found that the hotel was satisfatory. The room had a really nice view from the balcony. We were on the fourth floor. My wife and I arrived at the Palace on our honeymoon with high expectations. After all, our tour operator classified it as a 4 ½ star hotel and the pictures didnt seem too bad. Having previously visited Mykonos, another tourist Mecca, we were expecting it to be a fairly plush and luxurious experience.What a disappointment!!! We stayed here on our honeymoon and everything about the hotel was great. Our room was comfortable and we had a large balcony with a view of the island. The service was incredible. My husband accidentily broke the ceramic towel rack in the bathroom. We told the front desk on the way out and everything was cleaned by the time we were back an hour later. The pool was excellent. We spent half of our time there and the other half on the beautiful beaches of the island. My brother and his wife had recommended the hotel to us. I would recommend it... more

The pool is even more beautiful then the pictures, we had a room with an enormous balacony and the view from the balacony was amazing. I don't agree with the other reviewer how she could possibly compare this hotel to a Comfort Inn is beyond me. Granted the rooms aren't as luxiourous as the Ritz, but this is Europe you have to expect the rooms to less extravagant. I was in Santorini, Fira, in June 2002. We stayed in Firostefani - Santorini Palace which I find all right. I will be going to Fira this summer again but will definitely stay on the caldera. Santorini is one of the most beautiful places I've been to - great night life but romantic as well.

I stayed here in August 2002. I was very underwhelmed. I would equate the quality of this hotel to a Comfort Inn or other similar mid-to-low end hotel in the states. Mid-level, no frills hotel. (The rooms are in need of renovation; nearly all the fixtures in the room were starting to rust.) The one thing I liked aout the hotel is the computer room where I could check e-mails at night.
