" Just returned from a fantastic... "

Just returned from a fantastic holiday in Skiathos. It’s a lovely unspoilt island. I stayed in the Prekas Studios, my family was allocated the cottage studio which was fantastic.

The kitchen facilities were great, and not like the typical studios in Greece. We had a full size fridge, only 2 rings, but the space was great. The studios were very clean, and the maid did a great job, only having Sunday off. The pool area was very clean and the food at the taverna Calma - run by the owners of the accommodation was very reasonable and well presented.

We only realised this towards the end of our holiday and would have used the taverna more. We thought that we should eat in the other tavernas in the resort, but should have saved our money and ate at Calma.

the resort itself is very quiet, with no entertainment for children.

We went to the beach at the resort for only a couple of days, instead, we went on the local bus to Koukanaries beach - ( bus stop 26) - nearly every day.( it cost only euro 1.20 for adults and 60 cents for children) This beach had more activities for the children, the beach was also very clean.

The bus journey was an experience, everyone at the bus stops usually got on the bus - everyone just squeezed on.. I was on the last step of the bus for one of the journeys.

We went into Skiathos town a couple of times in the evening. This was quite a busy resort with some nice shops. The shops and bars were mainly on one main street, and on the harbour front. The town had small narrow cobbled streets, and had some more bars within these. The town was really for those who wanted to drink into the early hours of the morning - not really for young children.

Overall - I had a great relaxing holiday with some very hot sunshine.
