Nine Muses Hotel

Well what do I say, Disappointing, is putting it mildly....For the price of just over a £1.000 each it was awful....
Firstly the room we was allocated, a 10 by 10ft box, no where to sit in the room, (just the bed) no little table to put a glass, on certainly no 4* luxury, it was ground floor so we had a so called terrace, which was enclosed by shrubbery and a weed patch 5ft in front of our noses, so no view.....One good thing linen change was excellent..
Food...oh dear I feel like a big moaner, but I can honestly say there was people of all nationalities staying there and the treat of the evening was to see the expressions on their faces as the food was delivered to the tables.
The thumbs down was used by all....Plenty of salads to choose from..but all uncovered sitting on an array of side tables most for the 3 1/2 hrs of evening service, a cheap bottle of wine was 18 euros, hence nearly everybody just had water, some of the Italians even bought their own wine in, which to me took some nerve......and the food was invariably luke warm to cold, which we had to send back on a couple of occasions, and hey we were in Greece so what happened to greek menus?
There was a choice of 2 starters & 2 main courses, example lamb chops, with just a garnish, nothing else, and the chops were rib with a mouthful of meat, that was the best night for face watching....all main course seemed to come with just a garnish.
Breakfast all cooked food was kept in unheated containers, so if you didn't get there when it was filled up you got luke warm or cold, lovely with streaky bacon...
It was very windy during our stay, so one day round the pool, commonly known as the morgue, you could hear a pin drop, glasses were blown off from the little tables a real loud smashing of glass, did anyone from the bar area come over to clear them up( the couple who had the drinks had gone) No, after 5 mins I had to go and request that they attend to the glass as it was dangerous round the pool where people were bare footed (they were just standing there doing nothing as the bar prices were extortionate).
A lad came over and started to pick it up with his fingers, no broom , no dustpan and brush, no bin to put it in, my wife told him to sweep it up properly, he reluctantly went for a broom and flapped it around, my wife then took it off him to do it herself, telling him politely that he didn't know how to sweep.
His comments were "Greek men don't clean"...the shock & horror still returns to me, this was a pool side, where people walk barefooted....And also a big thumbs down to our Aussie rep, who gave us the wrong day and time for our welcome meeting which was at another venue, we chased after her on 3 occasions and then gave up, then in our second week we managed to grab her, told her our grievances and took her to our room to see if she thought it was 4* accommodation, her comments" it is Greece you know" hey we have been doing Greece for 18yrs, 2*, 3*, self catering , apartments and hotels, never ever had a reason to complain....she shrugged her shoulders and kept her lips buttoned.....basically wasn't interested.
Santorini....absolutely stunning....Perissa wonderful...with some wonderful Taverna's....which we occasionally went to for a decent Greek meal....Hi to all the wonderfully entertaining staff at CHARLENAS....did they work hard, but a joy to be served by..... Loved the island.....The rest well its history never to be repeated...Sorry.
