The Tur is basic just as the brochure...
8 / 10
Aug 2005, Mr R Lee

The Tur is basic just as the brochure says, but it would be hard to find anywhere that is kept cleaner (towels changed daily, and bedding every other) and with more helpful and friendly staff, who aren’t pushy, but are there to help, and who mix well with the guests, who are predominantly British.
A good-sized pool compared to some of the other hotels and was close to the market (which is a must) and is a comfortable walking distance from the town centre.
Kusadasi is a much bigger and busier resort than we had expected, and it did take us some time to get our bearings (a detailed map of the centre would be very useful) as it is easy to miss many of the bazaars and shops in the back streets.
The meals in the larger restaurants which cater mainly for the Tourist market are generally good but we found it was worth trying some of the Turkish restaurants as they were cheaper, better and more authentic. Some may not have menus in English but you will be invited to see the food displayed in chiller cabinets to make your choice from. We found it was good not to be overwhelmed with chips, rice, mashed potatoes, vegetables as well as the main meal all on one plate, as found in the large, touristy places. Do, however make sure they have a priced menu or at least ask for prices first, as our last night was ruined by an unscrupulous restaurateur who seemed to think it was OK to rip us off, charging us twice what we had been paying all week for food, and treble for drinks! AVOID IT - THE MENGEN RESTAURANT!!! (on a balcony overlooking the pedestrian precinct opposite the Carpe Diem restaurant.) For a good lunchtime snack, try the kebab takeaways, which often have outside seating, as these are ludicrously cheap and filling. (1 YTL for a huge kebab/sandwich, about 45p)
Not everyone’s cup of tea if you are not into historical sites, but we had a fantastic day at Ephesus, although it would be more comfortable in the spring or autumn when you could take your time, due to it being less busy and not as hot. Make sure you take plenty of water and a sunhat! It would be worth taking an organised guided trip or tour - our guide was fantastic - enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
And just a warning for the airports, do not let anyone take your baggage on arrival as they’ll expect £10 for the 200 yard trip from the arrivals area to the coach! Grab a trolley DIY!

What a fantastic holiday. I went on...

Jul 2005, Miss Hayley O'Leary

What a fantastic holiday. I went on this holiday with my 14 year old brother with know or little expectations and ended up coming away after 2 weeks with fantastic memories. I made so many new friends there both from the hotel and from other holidaymakers. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
The Staff did everything they could to make me and my brother feel at home, the hotel rooms were small but cleaned everyday. We were lucky to of got a room on the ground floor that opened up onto the poolside (which meant i never went with out a sun bed)
There is so much to do in this area and so many different places to eat. I recommend that you book yourself a boat trip as this was such a cheap great day out, and Albertos for the food as this was cheap but fantastic quality. Plus the staff here were great (Big hi to Ali Barba x)
The holiday was so great that I'm going again in September for a month back to the same hotel!!! Would definitely recommend
Hi to everyone that I met on holiday and a special hi to Jimmy the sexy barman... will be seeing you soon!!!

Although very basic and expensive...

Jul 2005, Miss Stacey Smith

Although very basic and expensive compared to what other people have paid for the same holiday our group of 5 had an excellent holiday whilst staying at the Hotel Tur!
The staff there were very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable even their new pet dog pasca!!
They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Nothing was ever to much for them.
The entertainment was especially good if it was just at the hotel or down the famous bar street people who have been will know what I mean!!!!!!!!
The hotel it’s self had it’s own characters like Norman the mad barber always posing and smiling (jiggi jiggi oi oi)!!
Jimmy the hunk behind the bar, nursey always smiling!!
And the night staff pilot and Sinan who always had to stop us jumping in the pool at 6 in the morning after a night out down bar street!!!
Big hello to Louise, Michelle, Luke, Jon, Emma, Kerry, Amanda, Charlie(Casper), Vanessa and of course our new adopted Doberman puppy pasca!! (that’s another story) thanks to everyone who helped retrieve and place pasca where he belonged!! We hope jimmy looks after him.
Lodsa love

Hotel Tur was a big disappointment....
4 / 10
Sep 2004, Miss M Wood

Hotel Tur was a big disappointment. Fair enough, it was only a 2* and inexpensive, but even at the price I paid, I wouldn’t return.
The rooms were very basic consisting of a bed and furniture that wouldn’t look out of place in a charity shop. Also, there was no way that you could fit two chairs on the balcony, which was just as well really as the view was nothing special.
I stayed at Hotel Tur in the middle of September and I found that the pool was often too cold to swim in and the nights cool, again this was a good job as air conditioning facilities are not available here.
Just a word of warning, the breakfast consists of jam, melon and bread with very strong tea and coffee so be prepared to pay for something a bit more substantial.
I would not recommend this accommodation to couples or those seeking any level of luxury. However, some friends I met there return every year as it is a cheap base for a clubbing holiday. This hotel is set back a little from the main resort, although all amenities are within walking distance.
On the plus side, the hotel is family run so expect to be made very welcome. In addition, it is also kept clean and tidy. The snacks and drinks are comparatively cheap but not such good value as the local restaurants and shops, which is a shame as no outside food is allowed in the hotel.

Fantastic service. My father passed...

Jul 2004, Mr G Viviers

Fantastic service. My father passed away whilst I was on holiday with my family. The hotel arranged my flight home to South Africa and looked after my family whilst I was away. This is a cheap holiday with top class service. The hotel serves an adequate breakfast and has a 24hr room service that will make anything you desire at a fantastic price. The pool is large and there are enough deck chairs for everybody.

Jun 2004, Miss M Eaton

The Tur hotel is a very friendly and welcoming hotel, the staff are very polite and helpful and are brilliant to associate with. We enjoyed this hotel that much that we have decided to go back again this July. The hotel is clean, the food is delicious and well prepared and presented. The pool facilities are clean and well maintained. But not only is the hotel that good it is also central to all the tourist attractions.

Just got back from holiday and have...

May 2004, Mr E Smith

Just got back from holiday and have to say if we had paid twice as much as we did I would still have been fantastic value. The staff were happy to look after your every whim. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar is open 24 7 even if you would just like a cup of tea. If you like to eat out may I recommend Alberto s. Out the hotel turn right turn right again down to roundabout just on the left. Want a singsong the golden oldies . From Albertos straight across road to bottom on your right. Sing and drink all night then get taken home in a free taxi. You wont get that in England. Don’t forget to get a shave with the crazy barber.

Aug 2003, Miss J Bell

Absolutely superb holiday!!! There’s nothing negative to say, very basic, but brilliant. Everyone really friendly, staff were happy to help 24/7. They were superb, contacting a doctor when I was ill.
Area was lovely, plenty to do in town, for all ages. Great market!! Pool was lovely, and certainly well appreciated during the hot days. Turkish party night is definitely worth taking part in it was really funny. Definitely worth a visit.
