After 14 years of holidaying on Greek islands we chose Louloudis Studios for our hols this year. The Thompson brochure says -
Sea View - We was in room 206 and only looked onto the balcony infront of us and into there bathroom window, The front balcony looked onto some trees no view here also we asked for a change but sadly no. And some studios on the ground floor looked on to a brick wall.
Well-equipped kitchenette - The worse we have seen no work surface, no storage space for food only a high shelf my wife could no reach, chipped crockery, when one of the two cooker rings was on the whole sink got hot.
Satellite TV - Yes eleven Greek channels one American channel and that was The US Embassy Network Channel and no one on holiday wants that on holiday. And the TV was 15 foot off the floor and bad reception, what a joke. But then we was not on holiday to watch TV and a good job too.
Shower Room - It was so small if you are over Severn stone forget it drop the soap and you will not to pick it up.
Other thing to take into consideration the Bar closes at 12 one night 11.20 and there are no bars in reasonable walking distance. No night life here only one night Friday they have a barbecue we declined it after a member of the staff was rude to my wife and she is very tolerant as she works in care of elderly people.
The nearest shop for anything is a 30min walk (one hour round trip).
Only a very small number of Tavernas and they are a good walk (well you can walk off the meal).
The Bed was like a plank we came home with bad backs. (I know not every one has the same bed prefrance but other guests we spoke to said the same)
One good point the studio was very clean.
This is one place we will not be returning to at any cost. But we will go back to Greece for our next holiday.
Sorry to be so negative about this place so,
BUYER BEWARE.

Louloudis apartments are just across the road, 250m from one of the best beaches in Thassos. Surrounded by mountains and greenery, what a little gem of a place. Complete with a fabulous panorama and views towards Kavala on a clear day, it also boasts a tranquil beach bar and four very reasonable taverna's.
The village of Agios Georgios in just 8km up the road where you can have dinner in this quaint village. Limenas is just 10 minutes away and Prinos is 3km. Very accommodating place to stay, helpful, great customer service, clean rooms, cost effective. You can always take an evening stroll along the beach and choose between many a taverna or bar.
Love staying at Louloudis. That's why I'm going back there.

Thassos is the loveliest of all the islands - and we have been to so many.
The accommodation, Louloudis Studios is a wonderful place to spend your 'chill out' time. The family are kind, generous and couldn't do enough for us.
The apartments are spotless and cleaned daily - in fact all you would expect from apartments with so many awards for excellence.
In fact since finding Louloudis we haven't been anywhere else on Thassos to stay(Due to unexpected circumstances we were unable to go last year - BUT we are back this year).
We are making our own way as Thomas Cook have let us down!
The food there is lovely and there are many other good restaurants in Rachoni. Our experience of eating in Thassos is good in fact most restaurants we have been to have been superb in comparison to other Islands.
I am sure I will be back to say more after this year’s hols.

The Louloudis hotel is owned by George and Sitori who own the apartments approx 100m away. The hotel is run by their daughter Thomi. The hotel is new, being built in 2005, and is situated amongst olive groves just off the main road. The hotels facilities are excellent, as are the rooms, of which there are 29. Be prepared though you will need air con and this is charged at 50 euros a week.
The pool is larger than most, and caters easily for all the guests. We stayed B&B and found the service, food and attitude of the staff excellent. Dinner is either buffet at 10euros each or a la carte which is competitively priced against local tavernas of which there are 4. We ate at all, and never had a bad meal, in fact the opposite. The hotel is 2km away from Skala Rachoni and 8 km from Thassos town. Buses are fairly frequent during the day but stop early evening, at 2.20 euros for 2 to Thassos town are very cheap, all have ac and are very comfortable.
The hand written timetable at the bus stop directly outside the hotel, is by no means set in stone! Hey but your on holiday, so relax and get into the Greek way of life!. A taxi to or from Thassos town is 8 euros. We hired a 125 scooter from Thassos tours in Thassos town across the way from the dodgems. 120 euros for 8 days was far cheaper than hiring a car, and don't be afraid of the driving standards, the locals are very sympathetic to tourists on scooters. I would suggest if you want to see the island then organise your own transport. I won't go on about our sightseeing, but, will say take your time traveling around, stop when you see a cove, beach etc, they are superb and very beautiful.
Be sure to nip to the apartments on Sunday night for sitori's bbq, at 12.50 euros each, you'll feed enough to last a week, traditional Greek meals followed by souvlaki and dessert, and wash it down with a carafe of red wine for 5 euros. All in all, an excellent holiday and we will return and to the louloudis. Many other guests staying at the apartments are serial returnee's, which says it all.
I would recommend the hotel to families and couples alike, be prepared the majority of other guests are eastern European, German, Czechs, Romanian etc.

Holiday-makers be warned - Do not book through Thomas Cook on a self-catering basis for this place. To begin with, there are only 3 S/C apartments available through Thomas Cook (despite what the brochure says) - 2 of which have a balcony and are okay, but the 3rd apartment is actually the annex to Reception on the ground floor.
There is no privacy to be had, as the so-called terrace area is actually on the main walkway for all and sundry coming and going, there is no table inside which means eating all meals on the doll-sized table on the terrace in front of everyone, no chance of romance either in the daytime - you would have to pull the steel shutters down on the tiny window (the only window) and turn the lights on, lest you be thrown into darkness.
I don't know how they can call it a 1 bed roomed apartment, since the fridge was less than a foot away from the bed, and the only place to sit was on the bed! Oh yes, I forgot to mention that whilst sitting on the so-called terrace, one has a fantastic view of.... a concrete wall. Apparently, this apartment was originally an annex to Reception but the law required the owners to turn it into an apartment for disabled persons, which again is a joke, as there's no way you could get a wheelchair in there, and no way would it fit in the terrace area.
Thomas Cook deceived us, and I would never, ever book a package deal through them again. Apparently, they are not obligated to tell their customers exactly how many units they have at each site, which again to me seems like one big con!
Other tour operators will tell you exactly how many units they have and also what the odds are on the customer getting more or less what they want.

I took my 13 year old grandaughter on holiday with me and we are both talking about the wonderful week we had at the Louloudis studios on Thassos a month later. The Studios were functional and immaculate and adequate to make snacks and light meals. However, we opted for the buffet breakfast and ate dinner and lunch there on a regular basis. The louloudis studios are set amongst olive trees on the north of the road and is about a 10 minute walk down to a couple of beaches idea for swimming and snorkelling with accompanying Tavernas if you want them. It is peaceful but also a short taxi ride to Thassos town if you want to do a bit of shopping or an evening meal. There are about 20? apartments so its not too busy.
For a beach holiday Thassos is quite the nicest island I have been to. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the pool was great. Many of the guests were greek themselves which has to be a good recommendation.
I have every intention of going back to Thassos and will book the Louloudis again. If you like organised activities and night life this is not for you. But if you like beautiful scenery, beaches to sigh over, a cocktail in one hand a book in the other and family run accomodation, This is for you.
