No heated pools even though one was supposed to be, which means smaller children do not use them, not near the beach, very understaffed, the 2 that do run it spend most of there time doing shots at end of bar with there friends. Alcoholic drinks in reach for children on the... more

My girlfriend and I booked this as a 3 star hotel, all-inclusive, BIG mistake. We arrived about 10:30pm tired and weary, we were met on reception by Patricia, a lovely girl, very friendly and helpful but spoke near enough no English whatsoever, she gave us our room key, and... more

To begin with the staff were incredibly rude, one in particular called Pedro who was the receptionist was rude, sarcastic and intimidating. All other members of staff could barely speak English and didn't even attempt to try, and when I asked for directions to the bus... more

Where do i start, the transfer we had booked took us 15 mins to find due to no person holding a logo of the company we were told to look for. The bungalows, well what a complete and utter shambles, ants all over the apartment including the beds, shower/bath didn't look to... more

This has to be the worst place on earth. The resort is fabulous as are the people however the Club Rio Sol is badly managed and as far as health and hygine are concerned the rats and roaches that were seen have packed their bags for better accomodation. Please do not put... more

We've just spent a week at Club Riosol and really enjoyed it. Were really worried about going after reading the reviews-but my advice would be to go with an open mind. Our apartment was quite basic, but was cleaned 5 out of the 7 days-no cockroaches or fleas. We did get... more

My partner and I have just spent a week at the Club Riosol over the New Year period. The only thing we both felt inviting was the pool area. It actually did look like it had been recently refurbished. The rest of the complex was crying out to be flattened and rebuilt. The... more

We had a great week at the Rio Sol. The bungalows were neat, no cockroaches, and the bath water was very clean. A cleaning lady came almost every day. For young couples there's not much to do, since the bar closes at 12, but a taxi to the centre only costs about 3 euros.... more

moaning brits
just back from a weeks stay at club riosol, we enjoyed it very much and would/will return. we allso had a mozzy problem in our room as the last post mentioned, food not great but ok never hot enough though?bungalow fine, clean towels/bedding only once in a week, bungalow only cleaned twice not five times as we were told but it was enough.entertainment was fine but we met a class group of people and really made our own, we were sick of listening to "moaning brits" though it really is quite ok and we will allmost certainly return next year? keith and sue mills.
the pits!!!!!
we stayed here in jan 05 the tsunami having put paid to our maldives holiday (see maayafushi review 06). it is without doubt the worst place we have ever had the misfortune to stay. the accommodation was below basic the food crass and the staff were obviously all the hotel could find!. Please do not think that this is sour grapes, the place is awful, the location isolated spend your money anywhere but here. amazingly i have read that some people actually enjoyed their stay there, WHY!!!
People seem too Fussy..
club riasol.. 18.01.07 to 25.01.07 What can i say.. Never been all inclusive before. !!! Food was fab. so much variety.. cant get over the choice.. put on half a stone in a week.. Staff very friendly and helpful.. Cant knock the place.. apartments cleaned regularly and towels changed at least 3 times a week. Downfalls ... Entertainment at night is geared for children.. After the childrens entertainment the grown ups have to play GERMAM / English Bingo. CRAP !!! Everyone in the family had loads of mosquito bites whilst sleeping in the appartment.. ( the youngest daughter finished up being treated at the chemist after being bitten all over the face ) Maybe the bungalows should be fumigated occasionaly ?? Saying that... More than satisfied and will visit the complex again 1
Don't Expect to Much!
DEFINATELY NOT A 3 STAR AIl Inclusive-WOULD RATE AT 2 STAR! Most dissapointing thing was the food. Niether of us are usually very fussy and my husband usually enjoys lots of salads, but at this Hotel we only ate in the evening once (on arrival)and lunch a couple of times as the standard and choices were very poor and repatative -in one week! and the salad was not very appealing (we checked every night before going out, in the hope it may have improved, but it was not to be!). Pool bar food also poor and VERY limited. Then there was the one & only American Bar-very small for the number of guests the Hotel holds & the entermainment was very amatuer, OK if you have small kids with you. The Hotel advertises as suitable for couples, but there are no facilicties to have a drink in the evening other than the one bar which you were not allowed to take your glasses out of, so if you want a drink at the Hotel you have to endure the 'entertainment'!! The accomadation was basic but adaquate. Could have been cleaned alot BETTER, the bin was not emptied all week! The landscapeing around the Hotel is nice, and the Pool area had plenty of beds. Not sure it would'nt get a bit crowded if the Hotel was full though. The heated pool was cold, didn't try the unheated one! Both pools were kept clean. If this had been our 1st AI trip we would have been mortified and very disappointed!. ADVICE FOR COUPLES :Treat it as B&B and eat out as there is plenty to choose from in Playa Blanca. Use AI during the day and maybe pop back for a drink(s) just before 11pm.. We only paid B&B prices for our trip so we were prepared to spend extra eating out, It would have been awful had we been restricted to the AI facilities. Hope this helps!! 2 Keys Not 3 Star as some holiday companies sell it as
II would have given this a one rating but because of the swimming pools i thought it deserved a little better. The food was terrible and currently the worst all inclusive holiday i have been on. Snacks were toasted sandwiches (cheese and ham) and hotdogs, (this was it). Most nights we would eat out, within a couple minutes of seeing the food, we were asking reception to book us a taxi into town so we could get something to eat. I felt sorry for the people who couldn't afford to do this and were stuck with the food on offer. There were normally 6 different types of food, although 4 of them were fish. Entertainment was mainly Bingo, the night they had a magic show and night fever thing which wasn't too bad. You will need a taxi to get into playa blanca because it's a long walk anywhere. Remember the only reason we went on this holiday because it was cheap, but spend a bit extra and go somewhere else; ever wise you will be paying more eating out the cost of your holiday.
very well impressed
date visited 30.11.06-07.12.06 After reading some reviews we were wondering what to expect. Fantastic suprise, I went with daughter and grandson and my son 3 adults 1 child, bed in lounge area was a proper bed.Pool was marvelous, apartment very good I would go back again, cleaning 5 out of 7, towels changed 3 times, Bar put on entertainment each evening, a variety of entertainment thoughout then day. This had been my 6th visit to Lanzarote and I would recommend highly. Bus to beach 3 times day or you can take a pleasant walk along the sea promenade. Taxis reasonable approx 3 euro. All in all a great holiday.
riosol ok..........not fantastic
i stayed at the riosol for a fortnight with my fiance.we stayed in a two storey apartment which had gorgeous views of the sea and also of fuerteventura, apartment was cleaned five days out of seven and clean bed linen and towels everyother day, apartment dated in need of some re-decoration.the pool area was amazing two large pools for adults and a childs pool.[non were heated which meant sometimes the water would be freezing]there was also a pool bar which served cheese and ham toasties and hot dogs[my fiance would not have survived the fortnight without these]as you can probably guess food was not that great at the riosol, they liked to serve fish nearly every night.staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome.entertainment staff at the riosol work very hard[ellen and serje]after a fortnight though entertainment became repetitive,i could not have gone another night there listening to the tracks of mini-disco for the children.the main bar was very dated[wood panelling]and there was not an adult place to sit and have a conversation as the pool bar shut at seven.you either stayed in the bar and put up with the entertainment that was lined up or you went to town were there was many bars and nice restaurants you could go[taxi fare 4euro but well worth it if you want to escape]overall our stay at the riosol was ok but i dont think i would go back.
Ignore all bad reviews
I stayed at the Riosol early November for a week with my Mum and my 2 year old daughter. After reading the reviews I was dreading what I would find but was really pleasantly surprised by the whole place. We got the impression a lot of decoration, and upkeep work has been done to improve the place anyway (the rooms looked newly painted etc). There was a gorgeous pool and bar terrace overlooking the pools and with a view of Furteventura, and all bungalows, pool area and playground were set in landscaped gardens, kept immaculately tidy and always with something stunning in bloom. The whole complex was really clean. My daughter rolled about the floor in the bar and was never dirty afterwards. (There's no smoking in the bar which was a bonus too) The complex was really quiet at night, no road noise or disco noise anywhere, and no building or road noise duing the day. The bungalow, although slightly dated, was fantastically clean, with fresh crisp linen and towels. Yes it was basic, but remember it is a 3star so you cant expect perfection and if you're eating in the restaurant everyday you dont need anything extravagant. The food was above average, we had no complaints and always found something to eat at every meal, even if you didnt like some of the stuff they put out. They have to cater for all tastes after all, so no everyone is going to be happy all the time. The hotel staff were wonderful, all really friendly and helpful. They love kids and tried really hard to win over my very wary 2 year old! The entertainment staff, Ellen and Serje were incredible and really made the holiday special, dancing around for the kids, doing archery, rifle shooting, darts and volleyball during the day and comedy and dance routines in the evening. They tried really hard, spoke 4 languages fluently and were genuinely nice people. All round, no complaint, but one word of warning. As with most places in the canaries, mosquitos were rife, so take some Tescos insect wipes, they kept them at bay for me and my daughter. Everyone else was being bitten like mad and was going and buying stuff out there which was expensive so buy it before you go. All in all, i'd definitely recommend this hotel to others. We had a lovely time and it was excellent value for money. Thanks Riosol, Ellen and Serje.
Don't expect too much
The complex was clean, & the staf polite & helpful. Unfortunately it goes downhill from here. The pool was nice but there weren't enough loungers, the food could at best be described as edible but was very repetitive & reminded us of our old school dinners (fishfingers meat fritters etc). The pool bar shut at about 6pm & the club was small & unbearably hot, with no air con in any of the facility. The complex is about 2 miles outside Playa Blanca, a nice walk in the day but to go out at night the taxi fares mount up. Also there are no shopping facilities on site, the nearest shop is about 5 minutes walk away. Hope this helps anybody thinking of going
good value
good value alround complex well laid out , clean and tidy , food and variety very good , staff very helpfull ,only down side was the bar and entertaiment area, inneed of a good make over. overall excellent value.
