Submitted By: Miss C ElliottOur apartment was quite basic, but was cleaned 5 out of the 7 days-no cockroaches or fleas. We did get mosquitoes-but no more than in U.K.
The food is o.k.-similar things each day. Breakfast is the meal with the most choice. For lunch and dinner we just ate more when there was something we liked, in case the other meal wasn't so great. Is also really cheap to get a taxi to Playa Blanca to eat there.
The pool is excellent-cleaned every day that we were there. As there are separate pools, it never got really crowded.
Also the entertainment was fab thanks to Serge. Every day there are activities on site, and in the evenings there is some classic entertainment in the bar! The kids club seemed really well organised and the kids got to take part in some of the evening shows.
So go with an open mind and try the activities. I would go back again.

Submitted By: Miss S CoventryThe only thing we both felt inviting was the pool area. It actually did look like it had been recently refurbished. The rest of the complex was crying out to be flattened and rebuilt.
The accommodation was basic and in desperate need of modernisation, overall they were clean. The hot water was brown and smelly and there was never enough for 2 people to shower.
We wasn't impressed with the selection of food considering it was all inclusive and it was never warm. The cocktails tasted like weak orange juice and on a number of occasions the vodka was simply water.
The worst problem we encountered was the fleas - not mosquito's as we was told. All of the guests staying on the complex were covered in bites. The so called entertainment area was full of them. The furniture down there was that old it needed to go on the bonfire. It was at this stage we also found them in the rooms.
We spent the rest of the holiday going into the centre of Playa Blanca eating at the many restaurants. The food was great and the entertainment in the hotels was brilliant.
Well worth a visit to the Marina, it is stunning, a good place to get dressed up in the evening and eat at the finest restaurants.
Our experience of staying in the Club Riosol is one I would like to put behind us and I most certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. I would definitely visit Playa Blanca it is a beautiful resort, they just need to get rid of the Club Riosol.

Submitted By: Mr O PriestleyThe complex is great, lovely clean rooms which are bright and spacious. I had beautiful views of a nearby volcano, island of Fuerteventura and the sea. The room was cleaned at least four times in the week, with fresh towels each time.
The pools are clean and large with room for everyone. Beach hut next to the pool serve drinks and snacks (toasties) all day. Restaurant food is good quality, always something good to eat. We could have unlimited beer, wine, sangria, soft drinks etc
Entertainment team were great and fluent in English, German and Spanish. The shows they put on at night were loved by everyone. The staff were all very friendly and made you feel at home.
Overall I would recommend this place to everyone.

Submitted By: Miss B LeerlingThe pool was great, with lots of sun beds. The entertainment was simply fantastic, compliments to Serge and Ellen.
We chose not to eat at the hotel, because even the staff said it was no good. So we went out to dinner every night, which is not expensive at all! Try the mojo, it is delicious. Finally, do not try the cocktails at the bar, they are lousy. But all in all, we had a very nice and relaxing week!

Submitted By: Mrs G DanielsThe water was brown all two weeks and some days didn’t work at all. The cockroaches were in the rooms, as were mosquitoes that go for the legs no matter how many repellents you have!
The bar only has local drinks - no named spirits or beers either for inclusive or self catering - all virtually alcohol free!
The food was ok - no choice for kids.
The entertainment was superb, Serge and Carly were great with the kids. My two girls are 9 and 11 and the eldest has never joined in anything, but this holiday they were doing shows for the people, and joining the clubs everyday!!
The nearest hotel was out of the back of the complex, the Paradise, which does fantastic buffets for anyone to join in, they have a good bar and well worth going to. They also have a supermarket!!
It was good to be old early on that you can go into any hotel in the area and use their bar and entertainment facilities, A very good tip, as this hotel is way out of the centre and a good 1/2 hour walk to the nearest decent restaurants.
If you do go the other way towards the Rubicon hotel- there are a couple of restaurants in a little area, including a great Argentinean, worth a visit.

Submitted By: Mr I MostranOur friends apartment in which they stayed had brown bath water, electricity problems and not enough beds or blankets. There were 3 pools, the children’s pool was not heated and was freezing. Hotel staff overall were unhelpful. Washing facilities were inadequate - only 1 washer and 1 dryer for the whole resort.
There was no choice of menu for children and as for the choice of food altogether, 4 nights out of 7 our children ate nothing - the food was disgusting, that’s if we were lucky enough to get a table and be seated. The restaurant to us seemed not big enough to accommodate the number of people staying so queuing was common. Not a lot of choice of vegetables or fruit and the fruit looked like it had been thrown out of a shop for not selling - apples were always bruised and old and bananas were green or black.
The pool bar only served toasties in the afternoon. The accommodation was at least clean. We caught the free bus most days as there is nothing to do in or around the resort. Free buses run but the last one back to the resort is 3.15pm. Overall this made our holiday disappointing and we will not be returning to Club Riosol or Lanzarote.

Submitted By: Tiff19488The food was great, the weather was great & we’re going back again next year. The staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful! You actually got to know them. The entertainment was typical of a family resort but the animation team really got you involved in day and night time activities. Kids seemed to love it. Be careful if you need a taxi on departure day, as we tried for 1&1/2 hours and ended up hiring a car to get to the airport. I would really recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fun yet relaxing break in the sun.

Our only complaint was lack of air conditioning in the villas, but you can hire fans from reception for 15euro per week. Town centre was only 5 minutes in a taxi (approx 3 euro) taxi service is top class. Playa Blanca itself is a beautiful resort but small resort with plenty shops and bars, but be careful of some bars as we were charged 11 euro for 2 vodkas (Irish bars). The Chinese restaurants are excellent value for money.
Submitted By: R LuckinsThe Rio Sol bungalows were clean and cheerful but the beds were something else! After two nights, I complained to reception and they changed the mattress immediately for a much softer one without the protruding springs.
I would recommend hiring a car if staying in this resort because it is a walk to the centre, although a courtesy bus is supplied three times in he morning to the Playa Dorada beach with three return trips in the afternoon, the last being at 15.15.
The staff were excellent in the resort, particularly the bar staff in both the snack bar and the American bar.
If you want to avoid the 'Germans', this seems the place for that! Having stayed previously in the Loma Verde, I expected to see the towels on the sun beds at 06.00. Surprise, there were very few. Sun beds were available all day long with very little claim to reservation.
Around the pool area, there were mainly English, Spanish and Dutch people with the odd German throw in but nowhere near as many as the Loma Verde.
I felt the food was a disappointment. The variety was not as good as the Loma Verde and the selection was certainly limited. Two mornings, I had wished I had never got up for breakfast as I did for one or two dinners. But saying that, there was good tasty food on offer some of the time.
The kids loved the snack bar, mainly living on hamburgers and hotdogs. This was available from 10.00 to 23.30 and being July, did not get full to capacity and we always got seated at whatever time we went there.
All in all, an enjoyable cheap and cheerful holiday and I would consider returning to the Rio Sol if I was taking the kids but not if it was just my wife and I.

Submitted By: Mrs J BarrettThere was a good choice of food in the restaurant all of which was very tasty. We were worried that the food might be a bit bland but not a bit. The pools were very clean, bar staff excellent, reception staff very helpful and the in house entertainment at night was enjoyable too.
It’s a good 20 minute walk in to town however we hired a car for our length of stay so that was not a problem. Thoroughly recommend hiring a car as it was cheap and a lovely way to see the island at your own pace.
Playa Blanca is a delightful resort and I would certainly return there and to Green Oasis.

Submitted By: Ms C A FraserThe complex had a 'family friendly' bar and games area which overlooked large sun terraces with 3 pools - heated, not heated and toddler pool.
The staff were nice & friendly without being over-zealous or intrusive.
The hotel offered lots of local info about the resort and excursions and even ran a free bus to the town twice a day.
It had a sandy playarea and clubhouse for kids which was suitable for toddlers and bigger kids. It also had a volleyball and football pitches.
The local beaches were really nice and perfect for young familes especially babies and toddlers. My daughter loved every minute of it, so of course happy baby - happy parents!
The only negative was the food. In the Rio Sol it edible but was pretty bland and boring. It had a slight air of School Dinners... but we were S/C so we only ate there once. The food in the resort supermarkets was mainly pre-packed, processed stuff. We could only find one place that had a tiny fresh meat counter and couldnt get fresh fish at all unless we ate at a restaurant and even then nothing to get excited about. I do look forward to eating good food when I go abroad especially local fish & produce but was sadly disappointed. But if you're not bothered too much about your food this wont be a problem. The beachside restaurants were pretty good but all seemed to have the same menus except for one or two in the town.
I would happily recommend this resort to tired parents with young kids who want a relaxing sunny winter break with nice clean, safe beaches with no gangs of loud single sex groups in sight.., young couples who want to relax and the more senior persons.

The upkeep of this resort has not been done for years!
Advice: If you dont get it cheap dont go!
Activities: Is beside a volcano, is a nice walk!
