Just returned from a fantastic week at Club del Sol. Cannot fault it in any way, booked 'self catering plus' which included all of our drinks from 9.00am until midnight and one free evening dinner. Once there we booked in for half board it was such good value, excellent choice of meals all freshly cooked.

Our room overlooked the swimming pool and the sea, really lovely, it was a very good size with large balcony and everything spotlessly clean. Swimming pool and surrounding areas were immaculate with ample sun loungers. Everyone very friendly and so helpful the entertainment reps were brilliant working most of the day and every evening.

Buses every 15 minutes to Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia, the same bus will take you into Palma for 5.50 euros. A visit to the old town of Pollensa is a must, take a walk up the 365 steps to the church the views are magnificent, go by bus for 1.10 Euros.

An excellent hotel very pretty resort will definitely be going back next year.

If you like to spend your days...

If you like to spend your days by the pool and your evenings in the hotel bar listening to the entertainment you'll love the Club del Sol.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, we found the self catering accommodation to be clean and smart, but more 3 star than 4 star in my opinion (we were there at the end of Sep '07).

We paid extra for a sea view which I would not advise as the sun was never on our balcony (having said that, we hardly saw the sun at all during the week we were there). The hotel restaurant was good value for money if you like a buffet. I would not recommend new Jules restaurant at the back of the hotel.

Our son was due to turn 3 a couple of weeks after we went there but was not able to join the kids club. The pools are great. We spent every evening in the centre of Puerto Pollensa as we like to go to nice restaurants (Tangoes, just off the square was the best). I would not advise walking into Puerto Pollensa as there is no pavement and the heavy traffic goes very fast on the road, it would be a lovely walk if it was a bit safer.

If you spend your days on the beach and your evenings in the resort centre I'd advise that you stay somewhere more central, we worried that the centre might be a bit noisy, never having been there before, but this was not the case and I doubt it would be, even in the height of the summer.

There is a bus stop directly across from the hotel and buses are regular up until around 8pm, a taxi back is around 7 Euros.

Sutton's, near the roundabout is lovely for breakfast and coffees. If you go self catering make sure and find out where the big supermarkets are as the small ones are ridiculously over-priced.

We plan to go back to Puerto Pollensa and the only reason we would not stay at the Club del Sol again is that you can't walk safely into the resort centre.

This was the first time to Majorca for us, and only just got back from the holiday few weeks back, and all I have to say is WOW!

My expectations of Majorca, itself, were a lil shoddy, as I always seen it as hotter version of Blackpool... And to a certain extent this is true.

But anyways, we arrived at the hotel, and from the outside the hotel looked amazing, and from the inside STILL amazing. Really nice. Straight away as we entered the hotel for the 1st time we were greeted and any questions we had were answered with no hassle, which was nice.

The hotel itself was really nice, friendly staff, which are also helpful too. Rooms cleaned regular and to a VERY high standard. But the best feature of the hotel was the pool, it visually looked amazing, and was such a great addition to the hotel.

Definitely will come back to Majorca, and definitely back to this hotel.

This was our third visit to Club-del-Sol. On the second visit I broke my leg getting off the bus. (Watch for the pot-hole at the bus stop) Everyone was fantastic, First Choice staff and Hotel Staff; they even found an old wheelchair in the basement and cleaned it up for me.

The staff changed our rooms so that I had easy access, and when your leg is in plaster everyone stops to talk to you. Great.

Location; - OK it's out of town but so what! Who wants to be in the middle of a town anyway? I thought that’s what you went on holiday for, to get away from it all.

On all three visits there has been a real mix of Brits, Scots, Irish and on this last holiday a couple of polish families and everyone got on like a house on fire so regarding the opera singer who allegedly had to suffer a bit of Mickey taking, it was probably because he was boring rather than any other reason. Suggest he goes to Covent Gardens for his next holiday.

Food; - Good in the restaurant and value for money. It's true about Jules next door. It's gone down in quality in the last year.

Entertainment;- The West End it isn’t, but the First Choice youngsters worked hard at

what they did. Perhaps they ought to have been a bit braver and more critical of each other when they didn't hit the notes but what the hell.

A nights show for two costs £150 with wine in the West End we got 2 weeks for two people with drinks and snacks thrown in for £500. It's a no brainer. One would have to work hard not to have a relaxing, funny, quirky, cheap holiday there. Go for it, just stay in bed or in the bar during the reps meeting and spend a few bob on a good tourist guide book.

Any questions ask Sharon on reception or Jose at the pool bar.

Just got back from Club Del Sol, abit concerned going to Majorca as thought it would be 'Blackpool on Sea', however thought Puerto Pollensa and surrounding area was really pretty.

Liked the location of the Club Del Sol, as it was slightly out of town and quieter, and with regular buses to Puerto Pollensa at 1.10euros, plus taxi's at 6 euros, no problem getting into town and back. We stayed in block 6 paying extra for a sea-view, which was worth it, got a nice breeze of the sea and lovely view, plus away from the bar area, so quieter if you left the entertainment early.

All entertainment was indoors in the main bar and thought although it was abit amateur it was quite good fun. Our 3 year old loved the kids disco and all the shows, which kept her occupied so we could relax with a few drinks. She used the kids club once for the Friday party which she loved, bit disappointed that it was cancelled a few times, due to low numbers, but as it was out of school holidays so alot of the children were below 3 years, so fair enough.

Thought the kid’s club reps and entertainment reps did a great job and put alot of effort into the shows and keeping people entertained. Can’t say the same about the actual rep whom didn’t seem that interested in giving details of trips, except for the ones she really wanted to sell, more interested in getting people to tick the excellent box for the resort and her!

Found Club Del Sol very clean and the staff really friendly and helpful, we mostly used the small children’s pool at the back of block 6, which was great for our 3 year old and also away from the games in the main pool and quieter.

Ate twice in the CDS restaurant wasn’t bad, but nothing exciting, mostly went to Sinbad’s on the main road in Puerto Pollensa, which does really excellent Mallorcan fish dishes and was really friendly and welcoming.

Would definitely go to Club Del Sol again, one of our best holidays in years!

Best holiday we’ve had. Excellent for families, our daughter is counting the days till we can go again! The pool was gorgeous, the apartments lovely and clean and the nearby resort was lovely and relaxing with some lovely shops and restaurants.

It’s quite a walk away - 40 mins but the bus runs right past the hotel and is frequent and good value. The staff were always pleasant and helpful with good english.

The poolside bar serves great lunchtime snacks and for evening meals the nearby new jules restaurant is the best place we found.

This is a great holiday for all the family, we can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely return next year!

Just back from Club Del Sol – been going there for a few years now. As per usual the reception staff are very helpful and friendly.

This year we paid a little bit more and had a sea view – well worth it. We didn’t choose the self catering plus we like to use the restaurant in the complex. The kids love it there so friendly and the food is great. This year their little shop is back so that was great for fresh milk, water and all the basics you need; so you don’t have to carry it on the bus or buy it from the hotel – as the hotel shop is a little expensive.

The reps did their best. We like Club del Sol as it is abit out of Puerto Pollensa. Taxi only 6 euros. We eat in the hotel restaurant only once – that was enough. The complex is worth a try for families.

We have just returned from our holiday to the Club Del Sol. (25/8-1/9 2007) 2 adults 1 child age 4 and infant age 5mths and 2 gran parents (aged 50).

Upon arrival the hotel looks nice in a large garden style surrounding. The hotel in the reception looked nice and clean and organised. Large glass doors recessed into a nice building.

Opposite the front entrance had a small water area with fish swimming around this seemed to entertain my 4 year old! Straight on down the drive way is the Jules restaurant (we did not use) as we were on a Self Catering PLUS) which I can recommend, from First Choice, who are the only company to use this hotel.

On the left at the rear was a soccer astro turf pitch.

Reception - all the staff at the hotel were English speaking and friendly warm welcoming. Easily booked taxis for you etc, although during 5-7pm easier to hail one from the main road or catch the Bus to Pollensa.

A quick photo to use for a card and then a band placed on your arm to allow free drinks(Pepsi/lemonade/water etc local Don Simon beer, spirits etc etc. This was a saving and well recommended! You can upgrade as with most Spanish/Balearics hotels to half board/All Inclusive ect. The upgrade for Breakfast was 76 Euro for 2 adults and 1 child.

Overall I would give the staff a 10/10.

Accommodation - very clean tidy and nice place to stay, a few ants here and there but that’s natural in hotter countries. The room had more than enough room to fit the cot for our infant, child, and 2 adults. The cot was a little hard so take a few sheets to pad it! As stated in the brochure, microwave hobs kettle fridge air con etc all worked fine!

The gran parent’s rooms were identical and all ok here too.

Overall 9/10 - shame they put us on the 2nd floor with a buggy! For this I would give them 0-10 for child friendly allocating rooms! However the lifts worked all week so I won’t knock the rating down!

Entertainment - Now before I start, I’m not a victor meldrew! But I have to say the music was too loud, the stage was outside, and didn’t we know about it! Too loud...are you listening to this!

Even the Reps took the pee bellowing out at midnight when the music finished saying we really must go now(I wish they bloody shut up and did! but they didn’t!) I have been to so many complexes and they reduce the volume down after 10pm, but been in the middle of nowhere it blurted out till midnight.

What made us even more annoyed was we booked this in advance (Jan 07) and asked for quieter rooms, away from the entertainment with a new born baby in mind...what we got was block 3 opposite the stage.

We asked for Block 5/6 knowing these were quieter! Good luck if you get Block 1 as this was above the reception and bar, which was used when it's a raining potential or when they do a show with the Parrots. Due to this excessive noise and below par entertainment we went into Puerto Pollensa most evenings, and we weren’t on our own with these thoughts!

Kids daytime entertainment was good, water sports in the pool, table tennis mini crazy golf(free deposit refunded) pool as in snooker/pool! 2 great swimming pools etc

Entertainment overall the acts I would rate (3/10)

Kid’s day time activity 9/10

Music volume 0/10!

Location-ok we accept that the location was out of town, so reading several reviews we took note and thought ok we can walk into the Centre of Pollensa...forget it! It takes a taxi on average at 11pm 8 minutes from the taxi rank! They drove quicker out of town, trust me it’s not walking distance at all! The beach heading into Pollensa was around 20 min walk. We never bothered trying to walk to the centre! Its 3.1Km from the hotel(I took a note on the taxi's speedo!) to the port/taxi/bus station.

Location overall 4/10,

I gave it 4 as it’s next to the sea front(pebble's not able to sit on it and swim in it!) although 20 mins direction to either Alcudia (not a lot there!) or Pollensa, more facilities and you hit a nice beach. Also it has great views of the surrounding mountains and views towards Pollensa and the mountains.

We enjoy eating out during the evening and dressing up, something that you cannot just do at the hotel and look in shops at the resort

I would recommend this hotel if you don’t want to wander through the town and are happy with a rural location that takes a minimum of 20 minutes to walk, to the nearest beach. Or if your happy to catch a taxi and bus. And are happy with a below par entertainment schedule on an evening.

Also I am going to speak for the majority, First Choice do not palm your customers off with Spanair...they are rubbish....delays out of Leeds/Bradford and delays on the way home, 2 weekends running for departure as I spoke to a lady who went for 2 weeks and we went for 1, and as we were delayed homebound that would make it a 3rd weekend on the run, as well as not getting our pre reserved seating on return flight!(which a complaint is on its way!) and a final dig at First Choice, get some reps on your coaches, palming off a non English speaking Manuel is not customer relations!

Transfer/Flight rating 0/10!

I’ve just returned from 2 weeks in the Club de Sol apartments, with Falcon holidays part of the First Choice group. Officially a 4 Star by First Choice.

I think they need to revisit this rating at the best possibly a 3 star. The staff and the holiday reps were excellent and the entertainment provided by young reps has to be admired.

The kids club staff were great but mixing 3 and 8 years old is not great also beware of trips for children, mine travelled on a coach without seat belts and we had been assured that all coaches provided would have them.

We booked on a B&B basis which was reasonable, okay let’s face it, not much can go wrong with a breakfast but the days of powered juices from vending machines are long gone.

Be wary of "inclusive" this does not cover meals. We did eat in the complex restaurant on three occasions but once because it was free and the other times because we were had arrived back from a day out and were it was convenient, the food is alright basic canteen type food, when you’re on holidays and especially for those who cook the other 50 weeks of the year we want nice food and also not all children eat chicken nuggets and chips. they do sometimes like veg.

The apartments were cleaned on a 5 out of 7 days basis (and the lady we had Adrianna was lovely) which was great but the apartments need to be updated, old pine furniture which is well worn out is not acceptable for 4 star accommodation. And some fresh grouting in the bathrooms would go a long way.

The pool areas were fine but the sun loungers had definitely seen better days, on no occasion did we see the pools being cleaned and our apartment was right beside the pool area, in fact one night we actually reported some youngsters having thrown glass in the family pool and this was ignored.

I had read reviews of the complex before travelling and yes the common area are lovely and photographs are great but the your on holiday I don't want to have to get up at 8 am to put towels on sun beds I thought that day and age was gone.

Serious issues I have are the lack of security at night or life guards at the swimming pools during the day. But my main issue is regarding safety, when you arrive you are given the key to your apartment with a key for the air conditioning system and electricity attached, but if you want to leave a light on at night (particularly those of us with young children) you must lock the door then remove the key and replace it in the electricity system.

Finally you are at least a bus ride away from a usable beach and it is too dangerous to walk to it, you are on a main busy road between Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa.

If you want to eat nearby avoid on site restaurant and pop across to Jules next door or a lovely place just to the left of the main road towards Alcudia about 3 minutes walk but whose name I've forgotten, this is the type of pampering we want on holidays.

We stayed for 7 nights in July and had great time.

Room spotlessly clean overlooking entertainment area one side and open fields the other. Weather very hot.

We actually had no trouble getting sunbeds at 10.0am every morning. We went to Jules for breakfast every day, great food, great service, brilliant, and just a stone’s throw from apartments.

Restaurant wasn’t to keen on but we got a free meal ticket on arrival, think everyone gets that, wasn’t to keen on the meal we had in there but the outside snack bar served really good simple meals until 9,30sh every night and they were actually very good and not too expensive. Again Jules did evening meals and were very good.

We paid extra for self catering plus with free drinks day and night; well worth it as esp during day we had loads to drink (no not the hard stuff, well maybe one at tea time).

Entertainment during day excellent, the reps really worked very hard especially on footy pitch, Stewart had to take football for approx 2 hours every day I could not have done that in that heat.

Night time entertainment (same reps) also great and very entertaining, First Choice reps worked really hard and tried to make everyone have a good time. outside acts a bit ...strange some of them, especially snake show. (some were stuffed, what was all that about).

Went on Pirates excursion, expensive esp if its fort a family and approx 1 hour away from Hotel, but I have never seen anything like it, out of this world, acrobatics and just all of it, thoroughly enjoyed it. Again the entertainers from the show got people involved even on the huge stage.

Alcudia wasn’t like I expected it to be, 15 Euros in taxi, not as much going on at night as I thought but loved Puerto Pollensa, 7 Euros in taxi, which was nearer. restaurants, streets, sitting outside the pubs at night was beautiful. approx 20 min walk from apartments on rough ish road.

Would def go again, loved everything about this holiday.

We found it very clean the staff are always willing to help. We did have a problem with ants, but after I went to reception the room was sprayed.

I do think they need to change the evening entertainment, it’s the same as 2 years ago.

You will need to get up early for the sunbeds, if you go back in before 9 and leave your towels you may find they have been taken off.

My husband and I have just came back from Club del Sol apartments in Puerto Pollensa.

We were there with my daughter son-in-law and 2x grandchildren aged 2 and 5years.

It was one of the best holidays we have had in a long time. First time we have been to Majorca in about 25 years. This site has everything and was so clean and the staff were

brilliant especially the reps working with the kids.

We visited the old town of Pollensa and it was amazing. The restaurants down on the front were great with loads to choose from, also Jules did a lovely meal also and the owners were very friendly.

We would certainly recommend these apartments to anyone with a young family or even looking for a nice friendly location with something for everyone.

We will certainly be back.

Rooms 10/10. Staff 10/10. Brilliant pools! Big bathroom. Comfy beds. Good nightlife.

And the drinks are cheaper than in puerto Pollensa it’s self.

We were allocation on arrival and worry about what it would be like and when we got there we was over the moon. They entertain the kids brilliantly. And they are never short of people to play water polo at 3:30. Ha-ha.

We went on the 26th June until the 10th July and we had a ball.

The rooms in block 3 and 6 and 1 are the best because they look over the sea front and the pool and the drink's area.

We are going back next year because we loved it that much.

Excellent holiday and my mum's fussy but even she said she had a great time.

What a fantastic holiday! I have got not one single complaint about anything. The apart hotel is perfectly situated just outside of the town of puerto pollensa, which is easily accessed either by walking or bus (1.10€) walking literally takes only 20 minutes and its on a straight flat road, so no hills!

The beach in pollensa is sand, not pebbles, which supports clean, clear sea. Also nearby is a variety of different shops, bars and cafés.

The Club Del Sol is a fantastic place to stay; it's clean, welcoming and perfect for any member of the family. All rooms have satellite television, microwave, cooker and air con of course (Which if you go around June, July or August you will definitely need!)

The room we stayed in accommodated very easily for four people, considering it only had one double bedroom (other two beds were sofa beds) our room overlooked the second swimming pool and had an amazing view of the mountains and the bay in Alcudia.

The restaurant in the hotel always had a variety of food, we stayed for two weeks and there was no repeating of any meals. The restaurant hosts not only English cuisine but also a variety of traditional mallorcan food.

Another good point is that the restaurant is quite large and never felt busy, despite us going at peak times. (Plus the restaurant is fitted with Air Conditioning!)

One good thing that we did was hire a car while we were out there, it wasn’t something we planned to do, but the hotel offer good deals on rental cars from local rental dealers. The car is dropped off at the hotel and then picked up again so it wasn’t even a hassle to actually collect it!

We headed off to tour the island and it was absolutely stunning, I would advise anybody to drive the "Sa Calobra" road, absolutely terrifying because its right up in the mountains but the Views are something else, there's also a really nice bay at the bottom as well.

Speaking of the reception at Club Del Sol, the staff that work there are brilliant too, they're really helpful and friendly, nothing ever seemed to be a problem for them. Overall the staff which work at the hotel were all really friendly and welcoming.

I would like to give a big thank you to the entertainment reps, Kay Leigh, Claire and Stuart who did a brilliant job for the whole fortnight at entertaining us. Lots of reviews say the entertainment was not very good but I suppose it's all about taste really. At the end of the day if the entertainment doesn’t float your boat then there is an excellent nightlife in pollenca to experience as well.

So thank you entertainers, you really did make our holiday. (Rock on!)

Anyway, don’t take my word for it, experience it for yourself!

Just got back from a week at Club Del Sol. Great family apartments, spacious, very clean and well equipped rooms with air con and sat TV in rooms.

Beautiful view from balcony overlooking the pools and the sea (200yrds away).

Bus to Pollensa runs every 15 mins and costs 1e10 or Alcudia (bit more) or taxi to either for less than 7 e. Both resorts have good mix of restaurants bars and shops and nice beaches. Eat out for approx 40-60euros (2 adults 2 kids) including drinks.

Apartment complex is really nice and far better than other similar ones we have been to in the past. All areas are well kept and clean and there are 4 great pools (2 kiddies’ pools), need to get up early to get a sun bed!

Food at the complex is a choice of snack bar, nice enough, chicken 7 chips 5euro, spag bol 5euro, burger & chips 3.5 euro. There is also the hotel restaurant which is buffet style serving breakfast and dinner at 6e for breakfast and 15 for dinner - half price for kids.

This again is nice enough but we chose to eat at either Pollensa or Alcudia most nights. Other option is Jules bar - we ate here and had food not cooked and 4 different hairs in my meal gross! Would not in any way recommend this place despite people saying it’s nice - hair aside the food was cold, overcooked, and just nasty!

Entertainment was good if a little tongue in cheek/butlins style but was after all geared to the kids and did the job. The first choice entertainment team worked hard and kept us up to date throughout the day with Bing bong tannoy announcements.

We went for the self catering plus option which gave us all inclusive alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, crisps and ice cream pots for the kids. Naturally it is all local beers + spirits , but this was a good option as only added about £80 to the cost of the holiday and we saved loads on drinks for the kids ( oh and the occasional beer for me ).

Over all great holiday +'s were the pool, cleanliness and staff , -'s were Jules bar , lizards and entertainment staff constantly asking people to up their service scores from 66%. Highly recommend for family.
