My night at Finikia
from sornin
I stayed at Finikia, it's a little bit far from Oia ( 15min walk ). The room 's very cute and bathroom is Ok. You can find anythings you want here. Like others comment it's wonderful.
Good hotel & location with excellent restaurant at a reasonable price
from Marjory1
We received a very warm welcome on arrival and found staff to be helpful. We enjoyed dining on the roof terrace and the food was excellent. Breakfast was basic but good. The hotel is well situated to enable easy access to Oia (20 minutes walk),although the road access is not ideal but you can use the Caldera footpath for most of the way. The highlight is the easy access to the Caldera Footpath, which gives fantastic views of the Caldera and the Volcano. Sigalas Winery is worth a visit but the footpaths across the fields have not been maintained and in places are blocked by fallen stone walls. We watched the famous Santorini sunsets from the comfort of our terrace, although they did not meet our expectations! For us Finikia Place was a good value, well positioned hotel with an excellent restaurant, in one of the best areas on the island.
What a great find
from TheHappyJocks
We recently stayed in this hotel for one week. We had always wanted to come to Santorini, but the accommodation always seemed very expensive. Then we stumbled upon Finikia's Place.. what a find. We have stayed on many Greek islands and know that the accommodation can be very basic, however I would not describe this hotel as basic. We stayed in room 23 which was right by the pool. The room was very spacious and very clean, it was cleaned everyday with fresh towels being provided. On our first day the staff provided us with a bottle of freshwater and some fresh fruit. Never had this before in a Greek hotel. Breakfast was basic, but nice and it meant you were up for the rest of the day. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good, in fact we spoke to various people on our trip who had been recommended this place for the food, even though they were staying in different places. Although you dont have a view of the Caldera, from the roof terrace you can see the sea, watch the sunset and look out towards Oia with its blue domes. Oia is a 15 minute walk from the hotel, but it doesnt feel like that. We found a path that took you along the edge of the Caldera so you didnt have to watch for cars etc. There is small taverna 5 minutes from the hotel, where the owner makes you feel very welcome. We ate there 4 out of our 7 nights. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a reasonable priced hotel, in a quiet location.
Wonderful dinners, food and views fantastic
from TAFFANDAUSSIE
Stayed there for four nights at the end of June. The food was so good that we had dinner two of the nights we were there, the service was interesting (they have their very own Blugarian versoin of Manuell) and the view of the sunset was fantastic. We made lots of use of the pool and the breakfasts were good. The location is great just a five to ten minute walk into the centre of Oia, and there is a beach and winery nearby.
ok

Have just returned from a week at hotel. Stayed in a double room, the room was clean and tidy. The first 3 days the pool area, although not busy with only about 12 sun lounger these were soon occupied and had the hotel been full some guest would be unable to have a sun lounger. Breakfast was ok, with either, ham, cheese or eggs and jam. 5 out of the 7 days there was no grapefruit juice availble. The staff were ok, we didn't really eat in the resturant, but heard it was good, thought the drinks in the resturant were a bit expensive 9 euo for a glass of wine and a Greek liquor.
Finikia made Santorini special
from Mizzkooky
My hubby and I stayed at Finikia's junior suite for our honeymoon, and it really made our Santorini experience more perfect. The Finikia area is a couple minutes' drive (also walkable) from the town of Oia, and about 15 minutes drive from Fira. I recommend renting a car if you can, it's really easier to get around. Go to the gorgeous, secluded beaches of Baxedes and Kolumbo, a nice scenic 20 min drive from Finikia, nearer than the more crowded and popular Perissa Beach area in the south. Back to Finikia Place - it wasn't dripping with luxury, but that's why we liked it. Instead, it oozed authentic charm, from the uneven white walls to the double-storey suites topped with those cute rounded roofs. The breakfast had the best fresh strawberry jam ever and the sunsets from Finikia are jaw-dropping. This place is great value for money - unlike some of the more expensive places in Fira which we saw - stacked on top of one another, smack in the middle of the too-bustling-to-relax tourist district (even though it is the Caldera view). At Finikia, there's space to breathe and to really enjoy beautiful, peaceful Santorini.
Fantastic - Would Return in a Heartbeat!

My boyfriend and I just returned from 4 nights here - we didn't want to leave. It was absolutely fantastic! Of course, it depends on what you are looking for, but this place suited us completely - it was luxurious enough that you felt you could relax, cheap enough that you could afford to stay there, private enough (no tourists taking photos of the surrounding areas while you're trying to swim in the pool, etc), and far enough away from Fira to be totally peaceful, but yet not so far away that you can't be part of the action. We both highly recommend Finikia's! We had room number 19, which is one of the units with a kitchen, and it faced the pool and the land/sea. Most of the units have their own small 'outdoor' space with a couple of deck chairs, an umbrella and a table. Even though there are other people around, you get quite a sense of space. The kitchen units seemed fairly large - they all also had two couches which could serve as single beds. All bathrooms are typically Greek style, wih a handheld shower nozzle. I ventured into a couple of the other rooms for a look - they are all different, but spacious. The double rooms were smaller (no kitchen, or dining table) but in general, these rooms were also fairly spacious and comfortable (avoid rooms 1 - 4 if you can - these face the driveway and some uninteresting scrubland). Our room request was easily granted so do make sure you ask for what you want. The breakfast was good - a bit on the small side if you are a big eater, but it was fresh, with a few types of breads, cheese (or ham), coffee/tea and juice. It was served in the restaurant which is open to the public in the evenings - you can sit inside, outside on the roof where you can see the view, or in the courtyard on the other side - all very nice. We didn't actually eat a dinner there so we're not sure what the food is like, but we have heard it is quite reasonable. Finikia's isn't too far from Oia, where there are several tavernas and 'corner stores' (good for snacks, cold drinks, alcohol, toothpaste, etc), as well as places to rent vehicles (scooters, 4-wheelers, open-topped cars). It is just a 7 or 8 minute walk down the hill to the first rental place (Auto Europe, which is the one we used), although we wouldn't recommend it. Keep walking for another few minutes and there are several more to choose from so that you can compare prices. Finikia's is also within walking distance of two traditional settlements (great for taking those postcard photos), and if you travel right down to Ammoudi Bay (you will probably need a vehicle for this unless you are an ambitious walker), you can watch your fresh seafood being cooked on the BBQ at one of the pleasant outdoor restaurants. Travelling time is fairly decent if you have a scooter or hired vehicle. The upper route (the main way to get to Fira from Oia) can be very windy, so if you are not confident on scooters etc, there is another way to go on the lowlands on the other side, which is far more pleasant, if a few minutes longer. The journey would be about 15 minutes by scooter/car, and it is very easy to zip around the place. We didn't take the bus, so can't comment on that so much. Fira has some great views and restaurants, and of course, all the tourist stores. The small alleyways and different levels of architecture have not completely sold out on their charm. Akros (?) & Niki's (opposite each other, facing the caldera) are both cheap, tasty dinner options we would recommend. In general, we were really pleased we picked Finika's Place as our accommodation on Santorini. It is not as far away from Fira as Perissa (although if you are 18 and just looking to get drunk then Perissa might be for you), and is not as touristy as Kamari - in Oia you have the chance to see a beautiful view and sunset everyday, rather than sit on the flat (pebbly) beach. It costs about €25 to get to/from the airport (each way), which the hotel can arrange for you. The proprieters are awesome as well. When my boyfriend fell on some steps (too much Ouzo) and smashed his mouth/chin open on some rocks, they took him to A&E for me, and also visited him in our room the next day to see how he was getting along. They were very kind and helpful. There are also several hotel cats to take photos of - very cute. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone. Give it a go!
Just Fantastic!
from paisfeliz
We loved this place! It is not super luxurious, nor is it on the caldera. However, it is MUCH less expensive than any of the hotels we looked at on the other side of the road, closer to Oia and on the caldera - I'm talking half the price. The restaurant was wonderful and the owner's daughter was SO helpful and friendly! We loved Santorini and decided to stay an extra day on the island. Finikia Place was booked the last night we wanted to stay, but they went out of their way to find us a room at another place that was very nice, and right down the street. It is 15 or 20 minutes from the town of Oia - a little bit of a walk, but we discovered you can walk on a path that goes along the caldera instead of walking along the street. It was a pretty and pleasant walk, we were far enough away from the crowds that it wasn't annoying, and it was very affordable compared to the other hotels in Oia. The rooms were basic and the bathrooms were small, but it was a quiet and friendly place and plenty comfortable enough. The pool was very nice, and there is a breathtaking view of the sea from the hotel. So it isn't the caldera - so what?! It was gorgeous in it's own right. We walked into Oia to watch the sunset from the tip of the island one night; nice, but once was enough. Santorini is a beautiful island, and staying at this hotel really enhanced our experience. The food at the restaurant is authentic, delicious, and affordable. We wanted to eat there every night! I really can't recommend this place highly enough, especially if you don't want to spend the bank. Highly recommended and would stay here again.
Wonderful place, friendly, authentic!!
from WILive2travel
My husband & I honeymooned in the Greek Islands & Finikia place was our FAVORITE hotel of the trip!! The staff was so friendly, the restaurant wonderful, and just a great laid-back atmosphere. When we first checked into the hotel we were shown the standard room, which was small, but for a small fee (we were staying several days) we were able to upgrade to the studio, which was really, really perfect for a honeymoon & with a very reasonable price. It's true that it isn't the truly "famous" sunset, but the sunset is very beautiful from the hotel & you can relax with a glass of wine all by yourselves instead of with the crowds in Oia.
Quiet little treasure!

Contacted the hotel directly and by completing the booking via e-mail, they gave me a 10% discount. The hotel is about a 20-minute drive on the bus route from Fira to Oia. If you get on the bus in Fira and tell the driver or his assistant that you are going to Finikia, they will drop you off. From the drop off point, continue walking up the road about 200m and the hotel is on your right. The rooms are plain but clean. Note there is NO TV, which was fine for us but if you count un unwinding to BBC coverage every night you will miss it! The bathroom does flood badly after each shower as there is no curtain or door separating the shower corner from the rest of the bathroom. The free breakfast is a bit skimpy (tea/coffee, juice, some bread/croissants and cheese). The restaurant is wonderful --over the course of 4 days we had 2 dinners and a lunch there. Oia is a great town, about 20 minutes' walk up the road. The walk isn't strenuous, but dark at night so bring a flashlight. The staff at Finikia's place is very helpful and friendly. When we were there, one of their dogs ran away but luckily showed up later that night. While he was gone we were sad --the place really does foster a family environment!
